Ducati’s Desmosedici Day to Raise Funds for Riders For Health

The life-saving work of Riders for Health will receive a vital boost thanks to a charity auction at the world’s first Desmosedici-only track day. The event, organised by Ducati UK, will see the largest ever gathering of these amazing motorcycles at Donington Park on Tuesday 30th June.

Special Arai Helmets Stolen

On the evening of Tuesday 24th February, 2009, our premises in Newcastle under Lyme were broken into and 5 irreplaceable helmets were stolen including a signed Barry Sheene replica. There are pics attached of the helmets and below is listed what was taken.

Arai Supports Riders for Health

Phoenix, the UK distributor of Arai helmets, are delighted to announce that at their recent auction at the 2008 International Motorcycle show, £9,700 was raised for the Riders for Health charity. Riders For Health is the official MotoGP charity and raises funds to buy, service and repair off-road motorbikes, so that vital medicines and trained healthcare staff can reach the more remote parts of the African continent. The auction, held on the main stage in the Arai entertainment zone at the NEC, was hosted by Randy Mamola, Steve Parrish and Barry Nutley and many unique items were offered for sale including an Arai helmet signed by the motorcycle stars of the 2008 Goodwood Festival of Speed, plus graphics, helmets and clothing signed by Arai stars Dani Pedrosa, Nicky Hayden, Leon Haslam, Jonathan Rea, Kevin Schwantz, Shinya Nakano, Noriyuki Haga and Colin Edwards.

MotoGP now becomes a one-make tyre championship. Michelin is leaving MotoGP because there is no longer competition in the area of tyres. After 36 years of MotoGP Wor ld Championship racing, Michelin would like to thank all the teams and pilots who put their trust in the Group during this period. Prior to the last MotoGP event in Valencia this coming weekend, 42 pilots won at least one race riding on Michelin tires, giving the brand 360 victories in Premier Class racing.

Get On Track And Help Save Lives In Africa

Racedays are holding a new fundraising event at Ascari, Spain, with all the profits going to Riders for Health. The exclusive trackday event will be held at the Ascari Race Resort, near Malaga, on the 27th and 28th of March. GP500 legend Randy Mamola, MotoGP's Jeremy McWilliams, World Superbike's Dean Ellison, World Supersport's Iain Macpherson and Isle of Man TT heroine Maria Costello will all be providing instruction to riders over the two days.

Schwantz And Mamola Turn Back The Clock With Rizla Suzuki

Suzuki World Champion Kevin Schwantz and Grand Prix legend Randy Mamola took to the track yesterday on a pair of Rizla Suzuki GSV-Rs, and the years rolled back as the two stars of yesterday completed some high-speed demonstration laps. Both riders showed that they had lost none of their racing hunger as Schwantz first followed Mamola around the 4km circuit and then Suzuki’s 1993 World Champion led the way for Mamola to follow him round.

A little bit of Hollywood came to Laguna Seca today, former GP winner Randy Mamola giving a group of celebrities from TV, film and athletics the time of their lives aboard the Ducati Team Desmosedici two-seater. Actress Catherine Bell, from ‘Bruce Almighty' and TV series JAG, perfectly summed up the giddy emotions inspired by the two-seater when she said. "Oh my God, that was awesome, just insane. It was the most terrifying thing but at the same time it was the safest I've ever felt on a motorcycle, if that makes sense!"

Dr Costa Rides The Desmosdici Two-seater

Dr Claudio Costa, a crucial member of the MotoGP community and a paddock personality since the 1970s, today got a first-hand taste of the performance of the latest MotoGP bikes. The Italian doctor, who runs the Clinica Mobile which looks after all aspects of riders' health, rode one lap of Catalunya aboard the Ducati Marlboro Team two-seater behind former GP winner Randy Mamola. Costa ended the outing with his hands trembling and described his ride with his usual philosopher's turn of phrase.

F1 racing's most successful rider Michael Schumacher experienced a new kind of thrill today, riding round Mugello aboard the Ducati Marlboro Team Desmosedici two-seater. The seven-time World Champion rode two laps of the high-speed circuit behind former GP winner Randy Mamola, after several other guests had taken their turn, including the reigning Miss Italy, Edelfa Masciotta.
