AMA Announces Additional Support/Sponsorship for Sports Road Race Grand Championships

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is proud to welcome additional sponsors and supporters to the 2008 AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships, set for this weekend, September 19-21, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Rose and Earl Hayden, parents of professional road racers Nicky, Tommy and Roger Hayden, are launching their new online store of Hayden brothers' memorabilia, HaydenBrosGeneralStore.com, at the event. They have also generously donated some Nicky, Tommy and Roger autographed merchandise to be given away at the AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships.

Track day on Challenging Luxury Circuit in Spain with CSS

On October 30th, California Superbike School will be moving to the continent for a few days. CSS has recently added another top notch track to it's list, this will be the first CSS Camp to take place at the luxury Ascari Race Resort in Spain. This is a two day event held at a challenging track in beautiful Andalucia, Southern Spain, the price includes track filming, coaching, accommodation and food. Unlike other tracks, Ascari focuses on the whole experience, pampering the racer and offering not only a world class circuit, but extras such as a skid pan, buggy/ off road track, petrol station, underground parking, vehicle washing facilities, hospital, hotel, wireless internet access, helipad and even a health and beauty centre!

Bayliss & Webber Sign Up for The Race of Champions

The Race of Champions will feature an all-Australian team for the first time when the spectacular event returns to Wembley Stadium on December 14, with Ducati’s Double Superbike World Champion, Troy Bayliss, partnering Red Bull Racing F1 driver, Mark Webber. The ‘Duo from Down Under’ will go head-to-head with competitors from the world of Formula 1, World Rally, Le Mans and motorbike racing, as they battle in identical cars on a specially-built circuit inside Wembley Stadium. Names already confirmed include seven-times F1 World Champion, Michael Schumacher, and triple World Touring Car Champion, Andy Priaulx.

World Champions to Race at Croft

The North East Motorcycle Racing Club makes its second visit of the year to Croft Circuit next weekend (August 2/3) with no less than three prestigious trophies up for grabs. As well as a host of club championship races for both two wheels and three, the feature race for the solos is the Laird of Croft and Ken Redfern Trophy whereas all eyes will be on the famous Mac Hobson Sidecar Trophy race to see who can add their names to the list of famous winners.

More Points for Jenny in Supersport Cup!

Since her impressive results a couple of weeks ago at Snetterton, Jenny couldn’t bear the thought of a weekend without racing, so she teamed up with Fergus, her sponsor from sorrymate.com and headed off to South Wales, and the interesting circuit of Pembrey, for a bit of fun competing in the Hottrax Junior TAG Endurance Race. After a demanding 102 laps, ‘team sorrymate.com’ finished the race in 7th position overall, and the best of the 600’s, with Jenny herself, recording the 2nd fastest lap of the race.

Jenny Does the Double at Brands

After a successful weekend in the British Supersport Championship at Donington Park on the 26th of May, where Jenny qualified 35th and finished in 30th overall and 9th in the Cup, Jenny ventured into the Thundersport GB Championship last weekend with an entry in the one off 'Ladies Race' and the Thundersport 600 Races - entry courtesy of Mark Brice. Jenny took pole, set the fastest laps and won both of the Ladies races on her Honda CBR600, but the highlight of the weekend was a win in the 600 races. After finishing third in Saturday's race and third in Sunday's first race Jenny finally stole the win by just 0.048 of a second in the last 600 race of the day setting a personal best lap time of the Brands Indy circuit with a 49.1 sec lap.

Senior Disappointment for Guy Martin

Any hopes that Hydrex Bike Animal Honda rider Guy Martin had of claiming his maiden TT win were dashed when he retired in today's Dainese Senior TT on lap three. After the disappointment of retiring in Saturday's Superbike TT when well in command, the 26 year old from Kirmington in Lincolnshire was hoping for a change of fortune on the Shaun Muir Racing Honda CBR1000 Fireblade and traded blows in the leading group on the opening lap held in perfect conditions.

Journalists Enjoy Day at Honda Ron Haslam School

Newspaper, magazine and radio journalists recently enjoyed a day’s training at the Honda Ron Haslam Race School. The day was organised by Ron and Ann Haslam who run the school, to help broaden the appeal of motorcycles in the media. With the onset of the Second European Driving Licence Directive in September, when the motorcycle test becomes more difficult and more expensive, it’s important to get the message across now about the benefits of motorcycling.

Justice for Anstey on the Mountain

Bruce Anstey put the disappointed of Monday’s supersport race firmly behind him, taking an emphatic 34 second victory in the Relentless Supersport TT Race 2 earlier today. Anstey and Ian Hutchinson couldn’t be separated at the end of the opening lap, but the 39-year-old Kiwi dropped the hammer on lap two, opening up an eight second lead, also recording a new lap record of 125.359mph. From there in, Bruce’s GSX–R600 Relentless Suzuki never missed a beat and the quietly spoken Kiwi took the chequered flag and his seventh Isle of Man TT victory. The win also completed the set for TAS Racing, having now won every available solo four stroke class in TT racing history.

Donald ‘Doubles Up’ at Isle of Man TT

Cameron Donald gave Relentless Suzuki win number two at TT 2008 taking the Superstock victory in a four-lap thriller on the Mountain Circuit earlier today. The 30-year-old Aussie took a slender one second lead going onto lap two; he then increased that advantage to 15 seconds over the next three laps, handing Suzuki their seventh Superstock TT victory in as many years. Bruce Anstey was the pre-race favourite but a heavy cold left the Kiwi feeling less than one hundred percent and he retired at the end of the second lap.

Extra IXON Track Day Announced

The overwhelming response and success of the debut IXON Track/Fun Day at Cadwell Park (22nd April) has prompted Thunderchild to add an extra date this summer taking it to three complete days. Pembrey Circuit in Wales, the home of Welsh Motorsport, will now host the second IXON Track/Fun Day during the height of summer on 24th July. All you need to take part in the action-packed day is own a full motorcycle road or ACU racing licence, and your bike to comply with the 105db noise limit. Oh, not forgetting your IXON leather suit!
