Set-Up Not Quite Right for Dean Ellison
Dean Ellison and his crew worked hard to find the optimum setup of his Co-ordit Yamaha R1 superbike - essential for the technically demanding 1.4 mile Leicestershire track which features a number of heavy braking points and slow chicanes (29th June). Keen to score points at his now local race, Dean safely negotiated the opening laps of race 1 determinedly setting his sights on places ahead. By half distance, the gaps were consistently reducing as Dean visibly reeled in the riders ahead. The tactics paid off two laps from home, as Dean moved through to fifteenth, then fourteenth. The destinctive yellow 118 bike crossed the line, gaining another two well deserved championship points and looking to improve for for race two.

Kirkham Claims Spring Cup Title at Mallory
5 Days ago
Jon Kirkham claimed the first Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup Spring Cup title over a thrilling 14-lap race at Mallory Park (29th June). Drama unfolded as the riders circulated round the 1.41 mile circuit on the first of two warm-up laps. A short sharp shower across part of the Leicestershire circuit saw the red flags deployed and proceedings briefly halted. A quick re-start was called as the rain past, with race distance reduced to 14 laps. Championship leader, Jon Kirkham, had the unenviable task of just bringing home' the Jon Kirkham Racing Yamaha R1 in the points to secure the title. But with Warren having an outside chance on paper, and Ben Wilson determined to finish the first half of the season with his first win, the scene was set for some breath-taking action.

Cooper Dominates to Take Debut Win
16 June 2008
Richard Cooper dominated in wet conditions to record his debut Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup victory, in a reduced 10 lap race at Snetterton. Sean Emmett stole the holeshot as pole-sitter Sam Warren spun up on the start dropping back through the field to 9th at the end of the opening lap. A mistake by Emmett, in tricky conditions under brakes for the Esses, saw the veteran Superbike rider run deep allowing Cooper through for the lead. Crossing the finish line for the first time, Cooper had eked out a 1.7s lead on the chasing pack. Sam Warren, slipped and backed the Mission Racing Yamaha through the pack to run hot on the heels of third placed Ben Wilson by lap 4, stealing the final podium spot on the next lap from the Boston based Wilson.

Warren Claims Pole At The Death
15 June 2008
Sam Warren took a sensational debut pole position ahead of the fifth round of the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup at Snetterton in Norfolk yesterday. An initially wet track deemed all the competitors to use a full wet Metzeler tyre choice for the 25 minute session. As the track quickly began to dry the name at the top of the time sheet changed place numerous times, swapped between no fewer than seven riders. Championship leader Jon Kirkham, dominant over the past few rounds, left his charge for pole until late on, as Mason, Nutt, Emmett and Cooper made their marks at the head of the field. However, Kirkham's luck ran out as he made a final charge after the flag, crashing out at the fast right hand Coram corner.
