An Unlucky Day for Kawasaki at Misano
After sparkling performances in some periods of qualifying, Makoto Tamada and Régis Laconi had a disappointing raceday on their Ninja ZX-10R machines. Neither rider managed to finish a race, as each crashed out in race one and then experienced technical problems in race two, one of which caused Tamada to fall again at the entrance to the first chicane. The team now looks to the next round at Brno to get back to points scoring form, particularly as each rider is happy with the latest chassis developments. They will have a further chance to test them at Mugello, on July 2 and 3, before they head to Brno.

Checa’s Double Win Leaves All to Play for at Nurburgring
11 June 2008
The double win by Carlos Checa (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) in Round 6 of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship two weeks ago at Miller Motorsports Park in the USA succeeded in shuffling the cards in the points standings somewhat as the series reaches the mid-point of the season. With Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) failing to score in both races, the Spaniard has now cut the gap to the top man to just 28 points. What seemed a healthy points cushion for the Australian just a couple of races ago, is now not such a large gap after all, proving that anything can happen in the unpredictable world of Superbike racing. The second new circuit in the space of two weeks is the Nurburgring, which has not hosted a round of the Superbike World Championship since 1999, when the German Round made its second and last visit after the first event in 1998. Four riders in the current world championship line-up have raced Superbike there before – Troy Corser, Noriyuki Haga, Ruben Xaus and Gregorio Lavilla – with the Australian powering to a race 2 win in 1999, while Carlos Checa and Max Biaggi have raced in 500 and 250 respectively and Max Neukirchner in the German championship. Almost one decade has passed since then and this weekend’s Nurburgring race is sure to throw up a few surprises.

Tamada And Laconi Ready For Another New Experience
10 June 2008
PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse riders Makoto Tamada and Régis Laconi will begin the German WSB weekend confident of a fresh start on their Ninja ZX-10R machinery, at a circuit new to most current WSB riders. The Nürburgring circuit was last used for World Superbike racing in 1999 and therefore few riders will have any worthwhile insider’s track knowledge of the circuit when it comes to raceday itself. Of the two Kawasaki men, Laconi has at least some experience of the circuit that replaced the classic full road-style track on the GP calendar many years ago. He raced a very different type of machine then and being in control of a 200bhp Superbike now, his latest Nürburgring experience will feel very different from when he was a 250GP rider.

Bayliss Takes Healthy Points Margin to Monza
08 May 2008
Following his double victory at Assen, Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) will come to Monza for the IDS Italian Round of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship this weekend with a healthy 70 point lead in the table over his closest rivals as the series reaches third distance. In eight races so far on his Ducati 1098 F08, the 39-year-old from Taree has taken the chequered flag on five occasions, finished second twice and has only been off the podium once, in race 2 at Losail. This sort of steamrolling form will guarantee Bayliss an ample cushion from his 178 points in the next few races should a challenge be mounted by the chasing four-cylinder contenders.

Third Row Starts For Makoto & Régis
27 April 2008
Makoto Tamada (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) will line up alongside his team-mate Régis Laconi on the third row of the Assen starting grid on Sunday. Tamada put in a strong performance through qualifying on his Ninja ZX-10R, finally setting a Superpole time of 1’39.307. This placed him 10th overall, only 0.879 seconds from pole. Laconi made great improvements at the 4.555km Assen circuit after a difficult first day, ending in a high-speed crash that seriously damaged his machine. An overnight rebuild led him try the latest specification of rear swingarm, as first tested at Jerez by Tamada, and Laconi also found an instant improvement in the feel and performance of his machine.

HANNspree FIM SBK World Championship® Assen
25 April 2008
As the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship arrives at the Assen TT Circuit in the Netherlands for round 4 of 14, all eyes were on the select group of riders invited to the SBK Paddock Show for the traditional pre-event press conference. Present on the stage were Valencia race 2 winner Noriyuki Haga, the protagonists of the last corner clash in race 1, Carlos Checa and Max Neukirchner, Régis Laconi, Max Biaggi and Dutch rider Arie Vos who has a wild-card entry on a Ducati 1098 for his home race.

SBK Heads to Classic Dutch TT Circuit for Round 4 of 14
23 April 2008
The classic Dutch TT circuit at Assen plays host to the fourth round of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship this weekend, after a gap of three weeks from the Spanish Round. With two second places at Valencia, Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) increased his lead over his closest rivals to 48 points but the Australian is now coming under threat from a number of adversaries, mainly on four-cylinder machines. Regulation-wise, there will be no extra handicap applied to the twin-cylinder 1200s for the next three rounds, as the event average difference between the two types of machines – twins and fours - has so far proved to be insufficient to warrant a change.

Kawasaki Riders Look For Success In Spain
01 April 2008
After two intense long haul races at the start of the season Régis Laconi and Makoto Tamada return to Europe for the third round of the World Superbike Championship, at the 4.005km Valencia track. Each PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Team rider has had his share of ups and downs already this season, but after a recent two day official FGSport test at the Valencia circuit each rider gathered more information about their 2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R racebikes.

Round Two For Laconi & Tamada
26 February 2008
Phillip Island in Australia is the venue for round two of the World Superbike Championship on Sunday March 2, only one week after the opener at Losail in Qatar. For the PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Team Losail brought the first points of the campaign but the task ahead at Phillip Island is clear for riders Makoto Tamada and Regis Laconi; find an overall race set-up to match the awesome power output of the 2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R racebike.

Qatar Tests Completed By PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Squad
13 February 2008
A final three day pre-season test for the PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse team culminated at the 5.380km circuit of Losail in Qatar today, with Makoto Tamada and Régis Laconi continuing to work towards an ideal set-up to take forward to the first round of the championship, in just over one week’s time. Despite a delay to the start of this test, when a few of the team’s latest specification engines were damaged in transit to the circuit, useful information was gained by the team, even with a reduced quota of laps available to each rider.
