Acumen electronics has announced two very special deals to encourage motorcyclists to try some of the company’s more innovative products. The Acumen Platinum Duo looks like a regular smart charger, yet it is capable of monitoring and charging two batteries simultaneously. Housed in a splash proof case manufactured from attractive and robust extruded aluminium, this microprocessor-based unit automatically tests, charges, maintains and recovers batteries. Although it only requires a single power socket for operation, inside are dual independent charging circuits that enable the Platinum Duo to charge and maintain two batteries of different capacities, in separate machines or vehicles, at the same time. Simple to operate and compact, the Platinum Duo is supplied with all necessary leads and a wall mounting bracket. It normally sells for £74.99 but Acumen has reduced the price by 20% to £59.99 for a limited time only.
Acumen, the UK’s leading motorcycle electronics manufacturer, has introduced a device that is popular with riders in the USA because it helps reduce rear end collisions. It achieves this by drawing the attention of following traffic to the brake light more effectively than a normal brake light signal. Research by Mercedes-Benz engineers showed that the reaction times of following drivers are shortened by up to 0.2 seconds if a flashing red warning signal is used during emergency braking, instead of a conventional brake light. At 62mph this reduced the stopping distance of the vehicle behind by no less than 5.5 metres. Mercedes were so impressed that this technology will be standard on their new S-Class models in the future.
