HM Plant Honda Boys Battle Hard in Portugal - Haslam Takes Third

HM Plant Honda duo Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow performed brilliantly at the final round of the World Superbike championship today, showing strongly in both races. Both riders were up at the sharp end of the action as results were decided by tyre performance at the new Portimao circuit. Both HM Plant Honda riders suffered tyre consistency problems at some point during the races, but Leon managed to take a superb third place in the second race after a seventh in the first outing. Cal also showed strongly in both races, but tyre problems saw him retire in race one, and force him into 9th in race two. Both riders showed both their strength and the potency of the HM Plant Honda Fireblade on the World stage. Leon and Cal now leave the team to prepare for their 2009 campaigns on the World scene, while HM Plant Honda will look forward to reclaiming the British Superbike Championship and winning on the roads at the 2009 North West 200 and Isle of Man TT races.

WSB Duty for HM Plant Honda in Portugal

HM Plant Honda will sign off a successful 2008 race season this weekend with their ‘wild-card’ appointment at the final round of the World Superbike championship at the Portimao circuit. With the Bennetts British Superbike season over with riders Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow in second and third places respectively, now both riders and team have a chance to shine in the World series for a second time. At Donington Park in September, Leon and Cal did well, despite poor weather conditions. Leon was taken out of a podium position by another rider in race one, but remounted to take 8th, before crashing out of the second race. Cal suffered a DNF in race one, but battled hard to take runner-up spot in race two. Both riders will be aiming for podiums as they say goodbye to the HM Plant Honda team as they move to the World championships in 2009. In preparation for this weekend’s race, HM Plant Honda conducted a two-day test at the circuit last week.

HM Plant Honda Announces 09 British Championship Line-Up

HM Plant Honda is pleased to announce its rider line-up for the 2009 British Superbike Championship with Glen Richards and Josh Brookes competing in the Superbike class, Steve Brogan looking to retain his title in the British Superstock championship and Steve Plater aiming for the British Supersport title. Glen Richards dominated the British Supersport category this season to take the title at the penultimate round at Silverstone. As well as claiming the British Superstock title in 2007, the Australian has plenty of experience in the Superbike class after a number of seasons on 750 and 1000cc machinery, during which time he achieved a number of podium positions.

HM Plant Honda Announces 2009 Road Racing Team

HM Plant Honda is pleased to announce its 2009 team line-up for the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT road races, consisting of four seasoned campaigners to include 14-times TT winner John McGuinness, six-times North West 200 winner Steve Plater and five-times Sidecar TT winner Nick Crowe, with passenger Mark Cox. 2009 marks Honda’s 50th anniversary of participation in motorcycle racing – beginning with the 1959 Isle of Man TT races. Since then, globally, Honda has endeavoured to win in every racing category it has entered. With pure road-racing and the Isle of Man TT races being so close to heart, 2009 sees one of Honda’s strongest ever rider line-ups for the road, as the marque attempts to celebrate its Golden Road-Racing Anniversary in style with yet more wins.

Leon Haslam to Leave HM Plant Honda for 2009

HM Plant Honda rider Leon Haslam will leave the factory Honda British Superbike team at the end of the 2008 season after choosing to move back to the World Superbike Championship for 2009. The 25-year-old from Derbyshire is in his fourth season in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship and so far this year has achieved five race wins and a further five podiums on his CBR1000RR Fireblade. Leon heads in to the final round of the championship 17 points ahead of Tom Sykes in third, and aims to retain his current second place standing in the championship.

HM Plant Honda head to Croft for sponsor’s ‘home’ race

Riders Leon Haslam, Cal Crutchlow and Steve Brogan are looking forward to podium finishes from this weekend’s Croft races. The North Yorkshire circuit is the ‘home’ round of title sponsor HM Plant, so all three will be aiming to impress at the 2.12-mile circuit. This weekend could see Steve Brogan take the Metzeler National Superstock title. The Liverpool ace needs just five points from Sunday’s 15-lap race, and he knows that despite two rounds remaining after this weekend, a solid result would earn him the title.

HM Plant Honda make Britain proud as Crutchlow podiums!

Both HM Plant Honda riders made Britain proud today with their performances against the World’s best Superbike riders at Donington Park. Cal Crutchlow took his maiden WSB podium in the second race with a superb runner-up position behind race winner and former HM Plant rider Ryuichi Kiyonari, while Leon Haslam was looking assured of a third-place finish in the first race before being taken out by an errant Robbie Rolfo at the Fogarty Esses. Haslam eventually got back on track to take a hard-fought eighth.

HM Plant Honda Confident Despite Wet Superpole Positions

HM Plant Honda’s Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow are still confident of a good showing in tomorrow’s two World Superbike races at Donington Park, despite losing out a little in today’s wet Superpole session. Both riders have shown strongly in the previous practice sessions and will be aiming for good starts on their HM Plant Honda CBR1000RR Fireblades to be up at the front in both races.

This weekend sees the HM Plant Honda team take on the World championship regulars when the World Superbike Championship makes its visit to Donington Park, Leicestershire. The Louth-based team will be converting its 2008 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblades to WSB specification for both Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow. Both will be wanting to impress in front of the home fans at the 2.5-mile circuit.

The HM Plant Honda team head to Cadwell Park this Bank Holiday weekend for round nine of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. With the team based just down the road in Louth, the 2.18-mile Lincolnshire circuit is looked upon as their ‘home’ round. In the Superbike class, both Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow are now winners on the new-for-2008 CBR1000RR Fireblade and both will be eager to chalk up further victories before the end of the season. In the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 championship, Steve Brogan wants to move closer to the title with another win, which would leave him needing just one point from the remaining three rounds to secure the crown. In the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport series, the team has made a number of small changes to his HM Plant Honda CBR600RR to make him even more competitive at the track.

Haslam takes debut 2008 win for HM Plant Honda at Knockhill

Leon Haslam finally got his first Bennetts British Superbike win on theboard for HM Plant Honda at Knockhill today. The victory in race two made up for his retirement in the first race, which was due to a misfire. His team-mate Cal Crutchlow suffered a disappointing day. He crashed in race one, before having to start at the back of the grid for the re-start of race two. Despite this handicap the Coventry rider managed to scythe his way through the field to finish in seventh place. In the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 race Steve Brogan toon his CBR1000RR Fireblade to yet another win - his sixth in eight races. He faced a tougher battle in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport event, where a bad start saw him way down the order. He managed to fight back to 11th place at the flag.

HM Plant Honda Chase Successful Foray North of the Border at Knockhill

The HM Plant Honda team heads to Scotland for round eight of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend. In the Superbike class, Cal Crutchlow - currently second in the overall standings - and team-mate Leon Haslam, fourth, will both be aiming for wins and podium finishes at the 1.27-mile circuit. Steve Brogan is making a good recovery from breaking two metatarsal bones in his left foot in a crash at Mallory Park earlier on in the season, and he will be chasing victories in both the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 class and the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport series. Knockhill marks the arrival of Exide Technologies as a sponsor of the HM Plant Honda team who will be on-board for the remainder of the season.

More Crucial Points for HM Plant Honda at Oulton Park

The whole HM Plant Honda team took more vital points for their respective championships at round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike championship today. Cal Crutchlow took another podium finish in race two, after falling in race one and remounting to recover to sixth place. Meanwhile his team-mate Leon Haslam netted two fourth place finishes. Steve Brogan suffered his second DNF in a row in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport race, but kept his 100% podium record in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship with a hard-fought second place.

Successful Oulton Return Required by HM Plant Honda This Weekend

The HM Plant Honda team will return to Bennetts British Superbike action for the second time of asking at Oulton Park this weekend. Cal Crutchlow sits in second-place in the series with team-mate Leon Haslam in fourth. Both Fireblade riders will want to be winning races to try and close the gap on runaway series leader Shane Byrne. Leon will want to score his maiden win this weekend, after netting four second places so far this year, while Cal – who has two wins to his credit – will also want to win and bag more points for HM Plant Honda.

Race Ace Crutchlow Passes Bike Test & Collects All-New CB1000R!

Honda’s race ace, Cal Crutchlow, passed his motorcycle test today – and then promptly collected his all-new Honda CB1000R, launched at dealers across the country today. The 22-year-old racer from Coventry, currently lying in second place in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship with the HM Plant Honda team, knew full well that now was the time to pass his motorcycle test before the Second European Driving Licence comes into effect from October.

Podiums for Crutchlow & Haslam at Mallory

HM Plant Honda’s Cal Crutchlow took a pair of third places at today’s Bennetts British Superbike races at Mallory Park, putting him back into second place in the championship. His team-mate Leon Haslam took a superb second in the first race, but slipped to sixth in the second outing with a tyre choice that didn’t suit the drying conditions on the 1.41-mile Leicestershire track. In the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship Steve Brogan crashed his HM Plant Honda CBR600RR out of the race and broke two bones in his foot. The 27-year-old rider is banking on being fit for the second meeting of the season at Oulton Park in around three weeks time. Today’s race schedule at Mallory Park did not include the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 championship.

HM Plant Honda Aiming High at Mallory

Mallory Park beckons this weekend for the HM Plant Honda squad. Both Cal Crutchlow and Leon Haslam have the daunting task of catching runaway Bennetts British Superbike leader Shane Byrne on his Airwaves Ducati. During a test session last week at Cadwell Park, both riders made small improvements to their HM Plant Honda CBR1000RR Fireblades and will be aiming to gain as many points as possible. With no Superstock race this weekend, Steve Brogan will be concentrating on his HM Plant CBR600RR, as he tries to claw back the points deficit to Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport series leader Glen Richards.

Ron & Leon Haslam to Ride at Castle Combe

More top class big bike racing is scheduled for the 2008 season at Castle Combe with the announcement that the Wiltshire circuit will be once again hosting the now traditional Castle Combe Superbike Grand National on the weekend of the 16th and 17th August. As well as some top class club racing and the two feature races, race fans will be treated to the sight and sound of BSB star Leon Haslam who will be demonstrating the HM Plant Honda Superbike at the Fowlers-sponsored motorcycle meeting.

Superstock Win for Brogan, Crutchlow Podiums in Superbikes

Liverpool’s Steve Brogan extended his lead in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 championship with another win, taking his lead in the series to 40 points. In the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport series Steve took a battling sixth at the super-fast Snetterton circuit to hang on to second in the series. In the Bennetts British Superbike championship HM Plant Honda riders Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow had a tough day. Leon led most of the first race, but was bumped back to fifth after he went straight on at a chicane, while Cal suffered from a poor start but fought through to fourth. In the second wet race, Cal hung on for third place while Leon bagged fifth at the flag despite grip issues.
