Pirelli Race Review - Monza
12 May 2008
A classic Italian weekend started on Thursday 8th May with a press conference, held at the Castello della Bicocca degli Arcimboldi, inside Pirelli’s headquarters in Milan. Many riders from the different classes participated, along with Pirelli and FGSport top-level management. Fanatics around the world watched it live, on the pirellityre.com website. On the racing stage, Pirelli fulfilled its promises by bringing a range of excellent tyres, both in SBK and WSS classes; thus Parkes and Bayliss made new track records at Monza. In SBK, Neukirchner was fast from Friday and ended Superpole in 2nd position, behind Bayliss, and clearly aiming to take his first ever SBK victory at the legendary Monza.

Pirelli Race Preview Assen
24 April 2008
Assen, Netherlands - Having been a long time fixture on the World Superbike Championship calendar, Assen continues in its early season date and in its latest 4.555km layout for the 2008 season. Despite having been modified on numerous occasions as the demands of global racing have changed, Assen in still one of the classic circuits on the World Superbike trail, and features some unique challenges to man and machine - and to their tyres. Assen’s banked corners may be fewer than in previous decades, when it was an almost exclusively a pure-roads circuit, but as well as the largely gradient-free corners created in the new millennium, there are still flowing sectors on the last section of the track where crossing and re-crossing the crown of the road, and using cambers to help ultimate corner speed, are all part of the unique Assen experience.

Pirelli Race Preview - Phillip Island
28 February 2008
The Phillip Island racetrack is perhaps the most famous in the world of motorcycle racing, thanks to its wonderful location, with riders appearing to ride straight into the stunning seascape as they charge over the start-finish line. Phillip Island is also a racetrack with fabulously challenging elevation changes, long left hand corners which - more than in any other track - put stress the rear tyres’ shoulders. Once again ‘PI’ is the second overseas race in succession, with the paddock circus relocating to Australia directly after the Qatar season opener.

Pirelli Race Review Magny-Cours
08 October 2007
Once again a dramatic end was in store for the SBK championship, with three riders still battling for the title on the eve of raceday. James Toseland arrived at Magny-Cours leading by 29 points over Max Biaggi and Noriyuki Haga, and since the first session ‘JT’s’ idea was clear: he came here to prove he truly deserves the number 1 plate. With his fabulous Superpole time, under 1’39, Max Biaggi re-entered his pitbox celebrating, but immediately after his opponents stuck in some really fantastic laps, relegating him to 7th place.

Vallelunga Pirelli Race Review
01 October 2007
A dramatic weekend for the first ever SBK event at the Vallelunga Circuit. The Roman fans came along in their droves even on Friday, despite early changeable weather and occasional showers. In World Superbike the attention was on James Toseland, here to earn the world title one weekend early, and Max Biaggi, a local hero still fighting for the championship itself. Saturday’s Superpole competition offered a theatrical show, with Toseland crashing during his flying lap and starting the race from eighth position. Pole man was Troy Bayliss, from Corser, Xaus and Biaggi.

Pirelli Race Review– Lausitz
10 September 2007
A surprising first row, on a tricky racetrack made more difficult due to the weather conditions. Riders on Saturday found a challenging situation, because of a racetrack that offered poor grip. Lausitzring is a circuit which seldom offers good grip in any conditions, but this time was worse than usual because of the rubber left on the racetrack by previous car races. Superbike had to deal with a wet Superpole, and Nieto and Laconi, the two official Kawasaki riders, were the first to enter the racetrack and took the 1st and 2nd positions, exploiting the first few seconds of dry tarmac. With them on the first row were Bayliss and Corser, on Ducati and Yamaha respectively.

Pirelli Race Review - Brands Hatch
07 August 2007
This was the last race before the summer break, as usual held at Brands Hatch: perhaps the most eagerly anticipated circuits on the calendar, and featuring one of the most difficult track layouts for the riders and teams. Once again the British weather in August was kind to SBK, despite Friday’s worries of rain. On Saturday a warm sun took the riders through the qualifying sessions, with a great result for Pirelli: both SBK and SSP riders made long runs with positive outcomes and most of all they did it using tyres sold on the everyday market. Bayliss set Superpole, while in Supersport the rejuvenated world champion of 2005 and 2006, Charpentier, scored pole position in front of his team-mate Sofuoglu, the real 2007 title pretender.

SBK riders beat not only their own track records but also the BSB prototype reference times.
