Pirelli Fuchs-Silkoline British Supersport Race Report
07 May 2008
Tyre selection became a gamble with the ever-changing weather conditions. With the front row electing intermediates, Chris Martin transformed his pole position into race lead on the opening lap. With Richards (Triumph) and Kennaugh (Yamaha) breathing down the neck of the Gearlink Kawasaki rider, a red flag incident involving Alan O’Connor brought proceeding s to an early halt at the start of lap four. Bennetts BSB Pirelli Race Review Oulton Park
06 May 2008
In race 1 the drama engulfed the opening British Superbike race at Oulton Park. With rain spotting as the riders took their positions at the end of the sighting lap, the red flag brought a swift conclusion as a host of riders, including holeshot rider Tom Sykes, crashing at the first corner. Pirelli – Assen Race Review
28 April 2008
After a weekend of records at Valencia, thanks to the Pirelli tyres which used to improved the lap records in all the classes, Assen delivered another great performance from the Pirelli tyres. In the SBK class the riders use a qualifing tyre and Bayliss set the new record in Superpole with the incredible time of 1’38.420, having set an even better one in final free practice, 1’38.355. No qualifying tyres were needed for a new pre-race record from the Diablo SUPERCORSA tyre, and Broc Parkes. In the two Stock classes DIABLO SUPERCORSA produced records, with Corti in the 1000 class (a time of 1’41.576 which could let him race in the SBK class) and Petrucci in the 600cc class.

Pirelli Race Preview Assen
24 April 2008
Assen, Netherlands - Having been a long time fixture on the World Superbike Championship calendar, Assen continues in its early season date and in its latest 4.555km layout for the 2008 season. Despite having been modified on numerous occasions as the demands of global racing have changed, Assen in still one of the classic circuits on the World Superbike trail, and features some unique challenges to man and machine - and to their tyres. Assen’s banked corners may be fewer than in previous decades, when it was an almost exclusively a pure-roads circuit, but as well as the largely gradient-free corners created in the new millennium, there are still flowing sectors on the last section of the track where crossing and re-crossing the crown of the road, and using cambers to help ultimate corner speed, are all part of the unique Assen experience.

Pirelli Race Report Bennetts BSB - Thruxton
21 April 2008
Shane Byrne transferred pole position into race win to claim his fourth win at Thruxton Circuit on his return to Ducati (20th April). The move to a Pirelli control tyre for 2008 provided a frenetic and close-fought opening race of the season. With a level playing field in terms of rubber, it was left to individual teams to select a favourable compound around the fast and abrasive 2.356mile Hampshire circuit. In race two Cal Crutchlow looked to be in dominant form, making the early running in the search for his debut victory, as he led the field for the first 12 laps. However, the sheer grunt of the new Ducati 1098 proved too much for Crutchlow and Shane Byrne expertly bided his time before making his move for the lead on his Airwaves Ducati on the 13th lap. A rejuvenated Michael Rutter on the North West 200 Ducati, left his passing manoeuvre until lap 18 to claim third position ahead of Leon Haslam.

Pirelli Race Preview - Phillip Island
28 February 2008
The Phillip Island racetrack is perhaps the most famous in the world of motorcycle racing, thanks to its wonderful location, with riders appearing to ride straight into the stunning seascape as they charge over the start-finish line. Phillip Island is also a racetrack with fabulously challenging elevation changes, long left hand corners which - more than in any other track - put stress the rear tyres’ shoulders. Once again ‘PI’ is the second overseas race in succession, with the paddock circus relocating to Australia directly after the Qatar season opener.

Pirelli SBK/WSS Race Review - Qatar

Despite some tests made in the last weeks the teams were asked to find a new solution to a new problem, making things even more difficult for those on new bikes. They lost valuable time due to the bad conditions and had to try out many different settings.

Temperatures Rise at Phillip Island Tests - Bayliss up Front
10 January 2008
Double world champion Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) trimmed 0.3 seconds off his first day lap time during a hot second day of SBK testing at Phillip Island, leading the SBK pack home once more. He continued to work on chassis set-up improvements on the factory 1098 F08 machine, and ran tyres from the harder end of the spectrum for the most part. Bumps on the track surface since the last visit of SBK teams and a much hotter track surface than the first day conspired to keep the overall times in check. Nonetheless, improvements were found by the top riders, who all now have one final day to set even faster times, before the test winds-up, on Thursday 10th January.
