Delighted to be back racing after his Oulton Park crash, Dean Ellison bought the Co-Ordit Racing Team Yamaha R1 home in fourteenth place in race one scoring two, well deserved points. Race two saw another point scored at his home circuit with a fifteenth place as the team continues to advance within a closely competitive field. Points finishes had not come easy for rider or team as they overcame the effects of both physical and technical difficulties, throughout the weekend.
Co-ordit Racing will make the short trip from its Leicester base to Donington Park to contest the fourth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship over the Spring Bank Holiday this weekend (24-26 May). Dean Ellison (BSB) and Phil Bevan (National Superstock) will be joined by Richard Cooper on the Co-ordit Racing R1 Cup entry machine. Dean Ellison makes a welcome return to the grid for his home round after sitting out the re-scheduled opening round at Brands Hatch two weeks ago. The Leicester-based rider fell victim to another rider’s crash at Oulton Park and has had to endure a frustrating three-week recovery period.
Keen to overcome the disappointment of his Oulton Park race last week, Co-ordit Superstock pilot Phil Bevan turned in a spirited performance to hold off a strong race-long challenge from Michael Elliott to finish fourteenth and collect his first two Championship points (11 May). Drama ensued from the start for Bevan as, starting deep in the pack, the Cardiff rider made a great start but was clipped by Alex Camier’s Kawasaki. Bevan escaped, unscathed but Camier and a number of other riders crashed bringing out the Safety Car and ultimately the Red Flag while riders were attended to and wreckage cleared from the track.
