Paul Bird Motorsport rider Gregorio Lavilla bounced back to form with a superb eighth place finish in the opening leg of today's Hannspree World Superbike Championship held in the heat of the Italian Adriatic coast at Misano. Aboard the Vent Axia VK Honda, qualifying had not gone according to plan for the team as Lavilla missed out on Superpole and was placed 19th on the grid, making for a fifth row start but in the opening leg, the Spaniard got a good start and pushed hard into the first three corners to come out of the first lap in 13th position.
Paul Bird Motorsport rider Gregorio Lavilla moved inside the top ten of the World Superbike Championship following a pair of great results in rounds seven and eight held at Assen in Holland today. Riding the Vent Axia and Kick Energy drink-backed Honda Fireblade, the 34 year old Spaniard posted fifteenth fastest time during the Superpole qualifying session and in the opening race, he battled against a poor start to come from twentieth on the opening lap to record a ninth position.
Following on from their announcement last month regarding the team contesting the 2008 World Superbike Championship, Paul Bird Motorsport have confirmed that they will field a single ride on board factory-supported Honda machinery in the fifteen round series.
