Kawasaki Conclude Successful Phillip Island Test
28 November 2008
The Kawasaki Racing Team today concluded a successful three-day test at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia, with the three riders clocking up more than 150 laps of the 4.445km track, despite less than ideal weather conditions. Overnight rain had left the track damp in the morning, and while the infamous Phillip Island wind was quick to dry the track out, it also lowered the track temperature significantly, which caught out test and development rider Olivier Jacque. The former 250cc world champion had a big crash late on in the afternoon, after highsiding himself on a cold rear tyre at the right-hand Hayshed turn. Jacque was uninjured in the crash, but admitted on his return to the pit box that it was a bit of a 'scary moment'.

Kawasaki Continue Good Work Despite Rain
28 November 2008
Work continued in Australia today with the second of three days development testing for the Kawasaki Racing Team, which brought positive results, despite mixed weather conditions at the Phillip Island circuit. Kawasaki's regular MotoGP pilots John Hopkins and Marco Melandri, who are joined by test and development rider, Olivier Jacque, were forced to halt their test sessions today due to brief rain showers. However, all three riders continued to make further improvements to their race machines and improved their lap times from the opening day of the test. Melandri, who continued his familiarisation with the Ninja ZX-RR during yesterday, evaluated the revised chassis previously tested by Olivier Jacque in today's session. The 26-year-old Italian completed 64 laps of the 4.445km circuit and significantly reduced his lap time from yesterday by nearly a second to 1'31.8s, despite crashing without injury at turn four late on in the afternoon.

Successful First Day at the Island for Kawasaki
28 November 2008
The Kawasaki Racing Team were met with perfect conditions as they arrived at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia today, to start the first of three days of development testing ahead of the annual test ban, which comes into force on 1st December. This is an important test for Kawasaki, as all the data collected during these three days in the southern hemisphere will be fed directly in the development programme for the 2009 Ninja ZX-RR, which is due to make its track debut at Sepang in February. To increase the amount of data collected, Kawasaki's regular MotoGP pilots were joined in Australia by test and development rider, Olivier Jacque, with the three of them clocking up more than 1000 kilometres around the Phillip Island circuit on the opening day.

Kawasaki's John Hopkins and Anthony West head to round 14 of the MotoGP Championship, which is being held at the Indianapolis circuit for the very first time, in optimistic mood. The Kawasaki pair are looking to score solid results at the 4.216km American circuit, at which none of the MotoGP regulars have had any previous track experience.

Kawasaki Development Continues at Brno
19 August 2008
The Kawasaki Racing Team brought to a conclusion a successful two-day test at the Brno circuit today, where perfect testing conditions allowed Anthony West and Olivier Jacque to work their way through an intensive evaluation programme aboard their Ninja ZX-RR machines. As Kawasaki's test and development rider, it was Jacque who shouldered most of the testing duties over the course of the two days. The former 250cc world champion completed a total of 87 laps of the 5.403km Brno circuit, as he worked with his crew to further refine the same upgrades on his Ninja ZX-RR that helped West to a career best fifth place finish in Sunday's Czech Republic Grand Prix.

Bridgestone MotoGP Briefing - Germany
08 July 2008
Following two sets of back-to-back races in Italy, Catalunya, Britain and the Netherlands in June, MotoGP’s action-packed 2008 tour continues with a third consecutive double-header, starting with this weekend’s trip to Germany, another of motorcycle racing’s most frequented destinations. This year’s event will be the 23rd premier class event to be held at the Sachsenring, which hosted its first race back in 1961, but will be the 66th race in total to be held on German soil since the championship began back in 1949. Sachsenring held the East German GP uninterrupted from 1961-1972 on a closed-road circuit, but rejoined the calendar with a brand new circuit in 1998, where it has remained since. Loris Capirossi scored the best ever result at Sachsenring for a Bridgestone-shod rider in last year’s German GP, taking second place for Ducati in difficult conditions with track temperatures soaring above 50°C. Having enjoyed debut dry weather victories in Mugello, Donington and Assen in recent weeks, Bridgestone will be hoping to cross Sachsenring off its ‘to do’ list this weekend, but is aware of the technical hurdles that it must first overcome.

All Change At Kawasaki Before British GP
21 June 2007
The Kawasaki Racing Team confirmed today that Anthony West has accepted a ride on the factory Ninja ZX-RR for the rest of the 2007 MotoGP season. The 25-year-old Australian rider fills the void created by the decision for Olivier Jacque to move permanently to the role of test and development rider for the team. After a number of crashes, which have resulted in numerous injuries and missed races, Jacque has been feeling increasingly uneasy about continuing in the series. Furthermore, Kawasaki's regular test rider, Naoki Matsudo, is out of action due to injuries sustained earlier this year. Therefore, the decision was made for Jacque, a former 250cc world champion, to return to full-time testing and development: an area where his skill and experience are proven and desperately needed.

De Puniet’s Best Ever Ride Against The Odds

Against all probability, Kawasaki Racing Team rider, Randy de Puniet, finished this afternoon’s MotoGP from Catalunya in fifth position: his best ever result in the premier class. Despite riding with an agonising knee injury, sustained last week at Mugello, and a shoulder strapped up after an earlier tumble in Le Mans, the 26-year-old Frenchman maintained a monumental pace, keeping many of the series’ usual front runners at bay.

Olivier Jacque Forced To Withdraw From Home GP
15 May 2007
Olivier Jacque will not race in his home Grand Prix at Le Mans, after complications with the arm injury sustained in a free practice crash ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix forced the Kawasaki pilot to withdraw from the event today. Jacque suffered a major puncture wound in the crash, which caused a severe laceration and muscle damage to his right forearm. The 33-year-old Frenchman was initially treated at the circuit medical centre, before being airlifted to Shanghai's Huashan hospital for surgery to clean and close the wound.

Successful Operation For Jacque
04 May 2007
Olivier Jacque underwent an operation at Shanghai's Huashan hospital this afternoon to repair the damage to his right forearm, sustained in a crash during the second free practice session at the Shanghai International circuit today. During the course of the operation doctors from the Clinica Mobile made the decision to close fully the wound, after ascertaining that no skin grafts were necessary. As a result, Jacque's chances of racing at Le Mans have improved significantly, but the 33-year-old Frenchman faces an uncertain two weeks as he waits to see if the injury will recover sufficiently to allow him to take his place on the starting grid at his home race. Jacque will return to Barcelona tomorrow afternoon, where he will consult with his own doctors in a bid to accelerate the rehabilitation of his injury.

Kawasaki's Jacque Sixth Fastest On Opening Day
20 April 2007
The three-week break seems to have had a reviving effect on Olivier Jacque, who led the charge for the Kawasaki Racing Team today to finish this afternoon’s free practice session sixth fastest overall at the impressive anti-clockwise circuit of Istanbul Park. After two days of fickle weather, the forecast have been respected today and a sunny but cold day has characterised the opening day of the Turkish Grand Prix, although overnight rain left the 5.34 km track damp and slippery.
