Friends Reunited at Goodwood Festival of Speed
16 July 2008
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Rizla Suzuki Team Manager Jack Valentine was reunited with David Jeffries 1999 TT winning Yamaha that made history after breaking Honda's 17 year winning domination of the TT Formula one race. Jack had not seen the machine since 2001 when he sold to its current owner following a disastrous season due the cancellation of the TT because of the Foot and Mouth epidemic. This was the first time the actual machine certified by the team as the race winner had been exhibited in the UK, since being sold. Many replicas of this machine that exist have been since masqueraded as the TT winner at numerous shows and exhibitions.

30 May 2008
The petite blonde motorcycle racer from Northamptonshire, Maria Costello, seems destined never to compete at the Kennedy International North West 200, as she was yet again forced to pull out of the event due to injury. Costello had already faced challenge after challenge in the run up to the event with what seemed like endless mechanical set backs but the real threat came in the form of a broken shoulder blade she sustained four weeks earlier in a high speed crash while testing her Philip Youles Triumph Daytona 675 at Cadwell Park.

He was forced out of the last Supersport race in the closing stages with a water hose problem. A G’Day for Donald at the Triangle
20 May 2008
Relentless Suzuki by TAS rider Cameron Donald made a strong international debut for the Moneymore based team at Saturday’s Kennedy International North West 200 with a brace of podium finishes. The Australian rider, in only his third North West 200, narrowly lost out to Steve Plater in the blue Riband superbike race after being block-passed into the penultimate chicane at Juniper Hill by BSB regular Michael Rutter. This let Plater slip through to take the victory. Ironically, Donald suffered the same fate, at the same chicane, on the final lap of the CP Hire Superstock race, when a Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing ‘one–two’ looked almost inevitable. When the chequered flag was unfurled it was Alastair Seeley who took the win with Anstey second and Donald third – a double podium for Relentless Suzuki.

Plater Claims Pole for AIM Yamaha at NW200
16 May 2008
Steve Plater has claimed pole position for the start of the two Supersport races at the Kennedy International North West 200 races on Saturday while AIM Yamaha teammate Ian Hutchinson was fourth fastest and will start from row two. Plater had been running pole for most of the session until Alastair Seeley posted a quick lap towards the end of Thursday’s final qualifying to take over at the top of the timing sheet. But Plater was quick to respond with a time of 4m 33.749 seconds on his very last lap beating Seeley by 0.503s to start Saturday’s two Supersport races from pole position. 16 May 2008
Legend and motorcycles racer Robert Dunlop has died after suffering severe chest injuries at the North West 200 in Thursday's practice session while chasing what would have been his 16th North West 200 trophy. Farquhar on the Pace at NW200
15 May 2008
Ryan Farquhar was on the pace in Tuesday's opening practice sessions for the 2008 North West 200 on the Q8Oils lubricated McAdoo Kawasaki race bikes. Despite some minor set-up issues, Ryan ended the evening third, sixth and seventh fastest in the Supersport 600, Superbike and Superstock 1000 classes respectively. Out first on the new 2008 ZX-10R Kawasaki Superbike, Ryan went straight to the top of the timesheets during the opening laps of practice. He felt that the bike was really powerful and recorded the fastest speed trap time of the evening at 195.1mph with the on-board GPS system. Ryan lost a bit of track time trying to perfect the rear suspension but still ended the session a promising sixth fastest average speed of 118.702mph.

HM Plant Honda Ready for Tonight’s first North West 200 Outing!
13 May 2008
HM Plant Honda teamsters John McGuinness and Steve Brogan will line up this evening for the first practice for Saturday’s Kennedy International North West 200. The North West 200 circuit runs between the towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine in Northern Ireland and has a history stretching back to 1929. Roads master McGuinness is a previous winner in the Superbike class at the event, while Brogan is a relative newcomer to the famous race. John will be riding in the Superbike class aboard the awesome new 2008 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, based closely on the machines used in the Bennetts British Superbike championship. The major differences include the use of Dunlop instead of Pirelli tyres, more power thanks to different regulations, while the suspension will be set-up softer for the harsher conditions found on the nine-mile ‘Triangle’ circuit.
