Best ’08 Result for McConnell, While Haydon Learns Hard Lesson
03 July 2008
In a day characterised by the fickle British weather, both MSS Discovery Kawasaki riders left the 1.4mile Mallory circuit in Leicestershire with much to think about. For Billy it was a magnificent and well deserved sixth place in race one; while James Haydon reflects on just how competitive and unforgiving the 2008 British Superbike Championship is. After a good start to race one, McConnell was the unwitting participant in a first corner crash which saw Leon Camier tangle with the rear of his Ninja ZX-10R and, ultimately, crash.

James Haydon Rides for MSS Discovery...
26 June 2008 | 1 Comment
MSS Discovery Kawasaki is pleased to announce that James Haydon will be deputising for the injured Stuart Easton at the Mallory Park round of the British Superbike Championship. A former Grand Prix, World and British Superbike rider, Haydon has recently been seen in the pit lane at UK Superbike events in his other role as television commentator. The Andorra based thirty-four year old sees his outing on the MSS Discovery Ninja ZX-10R as a welcome chance to show that his skill, determination and race craft are still at Championship level.

Windy Day Leaves MSS Discovery Deflated Yet Determined
28 May 2008 | 1 Comment
As the barometer needle dropped, and wind tore across the vast expanse of the 2.5 mile circuit, the two Donington Park bank holiday BSB races did no favours for the Essex based MSS Discovery Team. With high hopes from qualifying – and a machine in the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R that is kind to tyres – it was disappointing in the extreme for Stuart Easton to have tyre issues almost from the start of the first race.

Four Top Ten Finishes for MSS
13 May 2008
With sun beating down on the famous Kent circuit, Brands Hatch on Sunday was a million miles away from the snow bound, depressing sight it was just a few weeks ago. Race one saw both MSS Discovery riders make a good start and avoid any early lap issues which can so easily cost places. A race long scrap with ex Grad Prix rider, James Ellison, saw Easton display his usual accuracy and smooth riding style. Dicing with Ellison for many laps, eventually the Hawick based rider had to give best and finished in seventh place when his rear tyre moved on its rim which in turn, caused vibration and had an effect on the handling of his Ninja ZX-10R.

MSS Discovery Kawasaki Up for Brands
09 May 2008
Before snow blanketed the 2.6 mile Kent circuit cancelling the opening round of the 2008 British Superbike Championship, spirits in the MSS team ran high. Off the back of a successful winter testing schedule with their new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R race machines, both riders had pronounced themselves satisfied with the machines in UK race form and their qualifying positions. For Nick Morgan, Team Principle, the return to Brands Hatch is much anticipated.

MSS Discovery Dig Deep at Oulton
08 May 2008
The mixed fortunes of racing again visited themselves on the MSS Discovery team with extremes of emotion characterising their visit to the Oulton Park circuit. Race one saw the team immediately experiencing both extremes with a magnificent points scoring ride from Stuart Easton while his team mate Billy McConnell definitely thought his cards had been dealt from the bottom of the pack. With conditions on the start line overcast, race one was started with several riders expressing concern that conditions on other parts of the Cheshire circuit were less than ideal for racing on full slick tyres.

MSS Discovery - It’s Time for a Change!
29 April 2008
With a buoyant pit crew, and riders brimming with enthusiasm, Nick Morgan takes his MSS Discovery team to Oulton Park in Cheshire this weekend for the bank holiday BSB meetingon Monday 5 May. Having amassed a raft of useful information at the previous Thruxton round, the official team of Kawasaki Motors UK have been boosted by both the agility and the speed of the new Ninja ZX-10R so early in its development cycle as a racing machine.

One Step Backwards & Two Steps Forward For MSS Discovery
22 April 2008
Pulling success from the jaws of defeat is perhaps overstating the case, but to the casual observer, the pre-race qualifying of the two MSS Discovery riders at Thruxton did little or nothing to suggest the impact they would make on the meeting. Billed as the season opener in light of the cancellation of the Brands Hatch round, the official Kawasaki Motors UK entry in the 2008 British Superbike Championship had their fare share of challenges in qualifying as team principle, Nick Morgan, explains.

Final Day of Successful ‘Spanish Tour’ for MSS Discovery Kawasaki
02 March 2008
MSS Discovery Kawasaki has called an early halt to their Spanish testing duties after a very successful day at the Granada circuit of Guadix. With nothing left to test and with the schedule completed, the Essex-based team will now return home to the workshop to improve their Ninja ZX-10Rs still further. With both Billy McConnell and Stuart Easton less than a second away from the opposition with a machine with plenty of development left in it, the whole team is extremely satisfied that they are on-track for the first race of the season on April 6th at Brands Hatch. The final pre-season test comes at Snetterton, Norfolk, from March 22nd through to the 24th.

Friendly Rivalry Marks the Start of MSS Discovery Kawasaki Guadix Test
02 March 2008
MSS Discovery Kawasaki teamsters Stuart Easton and Billy McConnell indulged in some friendly rivalry yesterday as both riders aimed to be the faster around the Guadix circuit. Eventually it was the Australian McConnell who took the honours, but his Scottish team-mate was only just behind. Despite the MSS team not yet having the ‘full-power’ engine spec here at the Spanish tests, the team are buoyed by how close they are to teams who have many more testing miles under their belts.

MSS Discovery Kawasaki Enjoy Fruitful First Day of Testing at Almeria
26 February 2008
MSS Discovery Kawasaki has begun their winter test schedule with a positive start on the first day of a three-day test at the Spanish circuit of Almeria. The test is a shakedown of the new-for-2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10Rs that riders Stuart Easton and Billy McConnell will campaign in this year’s 12-round series. The team will stay at Almeria for a further two days, before having a day off prior to further testing at the Guadix circuit.

Disappointment For Rutter As Moore Shines At Macau GP
18 November 2007
Michael Rutter finished a distant 11th in this weekend’s 41st Macau Grand Prix following an incident with a fellow rider three laps from the end of the 15-lap race. The 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory was the pole sitter for the event on his Aviva MSS Discovery Kawasaki and was aiming for a record seventh win. He was battling with Austrian Thomas Hinterreiter when the Briton was forced to take the escape road at the 90-degree Lisboa corner, putting him well down the order. For the second year in succession the race was won by Britain’s Steve Plater.

Rutter On Pole For Aviva MSS Discovery Kawasaki At Macau GP
16 November 2007
Michael Rutter has put his Aviva Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R on pole position for tomorrow’s 41st Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. The 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory is chasing a record seventh victory at the 3.8-mile Guia track, which would see him become the most successful motorcycle racer ever at the far-eastern circuit. Rutter’s lap-time of 2m 26.644s was an amazing 1.3 seconds quicker than his own existing lap record. His team-mate Jimmy Moore was equally impressive, posting the fourth fastest time in the 600 class aboard his Aviva Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.

Up And Down Final Meeting For Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki At Brands
14 October 2007
The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team suffered another weekend of highs and lows at the final Bennetts British Superbike meeting of 2007.
Michael Rutter took the Ninja ZX-10R to 8th and 10th place finishes in the two Superbike legs, battling hard with the Rizla Suzukis and the Stobart Hondas in the early stages of the races. James Webb’s warm-up crash meant he didn’t have his number one engine for his MAXXIS British Supersport event and a high-side in front of him during the race meant he had to settle for 13th place and his first points finish for the team.

Frustrating Qualifying for Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki at Brands Hatch
14 October 2007
The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team suffered two crashes in today’s qualifying for the last round of the British Superbike series, but still show plenty of promise for raceday. Michael Rutter was looking good for a position on the second-row of the grid before he crashed out of the qualifying session while on a hot lap. He managed to get back from the outside of Clearways with minutes to spare but was unable to register a faster time on his second machine and the 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory was bumped back to the third-row of the grid.

Top Tens For Rutter And Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki
24 September 2007
Michael Rutter gave the Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team something to smile about at Donington Park today with a pair of top ten finishes aboard his Ninja ZX-10R. The 34-year-old’s 9th and 8th places in the two Bennetts British Superbike races did something to erase the pain of his young team-mate’s bad-luck in the MAXXIS British Supersport race. 18-year-old James Webb ended up in the gravel in the first turn after a collision with another rider, continuing the Kent rider’s poor run of luck on race-day after an impressive qualifying performance.

Positive Day For Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki Team
22 September 2007
The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team enjoyed a very positive day today at Donington Park, home of the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike championship. Chassis changes have given Michael Rutter more feedback from his Ninja ZX-10R, enabling the 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory to be closer to the leaders’ lap-times than previously this season.
