Best ’08 Result for McConnell, While Haydon Learns Hard Lesson
3 Days ago
In a day characterised by the fickle British weather, both MSS Discovery Kawasaki riders left the 1.4mile Mallory circuit in Leicestershire with much to think about. For Billy it was a magnificent and well deserved sixth place in race one; while James Haydon reflects on just how competitive and unforgiving the 2008 British Superbike Championship is. After a good start to race one, McConnell was the unwitting participant in a first corner crash which saw Leon Camier tangle with the rear of his Ninja ZX-10R and, ultimately, crash.

Windy Day Leaves MSS Discovery Deflated Yet Determined
28 May 2008 | 1 Comment
As the barometer needle dropped, and wind tore across the vast expanse of the 2.5 mile circuit, the two Donington Park bank holiday BSB races did no favours for the Essex based MSS Discovery Team. With high hopes from qualifying – and a machine in the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R that is kind to tyres – it was disappointing in the extreme for Stuart Easton to have tyre issues almost from the start of the first race.

After further significant progress was made at Brands Hatch, Kawasaki’s official Superbike team, MSS Discovery, declare themselves “excited” to be going to Donington Park for the forth round of the 2008 British Superbike Championship on May 26th. Four Top Ten Finishes for MSS
13 May 2008
With sun beating down on the famous Kent circuit, Brands Hatch on Sunday was a million miles away from the snow bound, depressing sight it was just a few weeks ago. Race one saw both MSS Discovery riders make a good start and avoid any early lap issues which can so easily cost places. A race long scrap with ex Grad Prix rider, James Ellison, saw Easton display his usual accuracy and smooth riding style. Dicing with Ellison for many laps, eventually the Hawick based rider had to give best and finished in seventh place when his rear tyre moved on its rim which in turn, caused vibration and had an effect on the handling of his Ninja ZX-10R.

MSS Discovery Kawasaki Up for Brands
09 May 2008
Before snow blanketed the 2.6 mile Kent circuit cancelling the opening round of the 2008 British Superbike Championship, spirits in the MSS team ran high. Off the back of a successful winter testing schedule with their new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R race machines, both riders had pronounced themselves satisfied with the machines in UK race form and their qualifying positions. For Nick Morgan, Team Principle, the return to Brands Hatch is much anticipated.

MSS Discovery Dig Deep at Oulton
08 May 2008
The mixed fortunes of racing again visited themselves on the MSS Discovery team with extremes of emotion characterising their visit to the Oulton Park circuit. Race one saw the team immediately experiencing both extremes with a magnificent points scoring ride from Stuart Easton while his team mate Billy McConnell definitely thought his cards had been dealt from the bottom of the pack. With conditions on the start line overcast, race one was started with several riders expressing concern that conditions on other parts of the Cheshire circuit were less than ideal for racing on full slick tyres.

One Step Backwards & Two Steps Forward For MSS Discovery
22 April 2008
Pulling success from the jaws of defeat is perhaps overstating the case, but to the casual observer, the pre-race qualifying of the two MSS Discovery riders at Thruxton did little or nothing to suggest the impact they would make on the meeting. Billed as the season opener in light of the cancellation of the Brands Hatch round, the official Kawasaki Motors UK entry in the 2008 British Superbike Championship had their fare share of challenges in qualifying as team principle, Nick Morgan, explains.

Final Day of Successful ‘Spanish Tour’ for MSS Discovery Kawasaki

MSS Discovery Kawasaki has called an early halt to their Spanish testing duties after a very successful day at the Granada circuit of Guadix. With nothing left to test and with the schedule completed, the Essex-based team will now return home to the workshop to improve their Ninja ZX-10Rs still further. With both Billy McConnell and Stuart Easton less than a second away from the opposition with a machine with plenty of development left in it, the whole team is extremely satisfied that they are on-track for the first race of the season on April 6th at Brands Hatch. The final pre-season test comes at Snetterton, Norfolk, from March 22nd through to the 24th.

Friendly Rivalry Marks the Start of MSS Discovery Kawasaki Guadix Test
02 March 2008
MSS Discovery Kawasaki teamsters Stuart Easton and Billy McConnell indulged in some friendly rivalry yesterday as both riders aimed to be the faster around the Guadix circuit. Eventually it was the Australian McConnell who took the honours, but his Scottish team-mate was only just behind. Despite the MSS team not yet having the ‘full-power’ engine spec here at the Spanish tests, the team are buoyed by how close they are to teams who have many more testing miles under their belts.

The 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory was the pole sitter for the event on his Aviva MSS Discovery Kawasaki and was aiming for a record seventh win. He was battling with Austrian Thomas Hinterreiter when the Briton was forced to take the escape road at the 90-degree Lisboa corner, putting him well down the order. For the second year in succession the race was won by Britain’s Steve Plater.
