Stoner Ends as He Started
27 October 2008
Casey Stoner ended the season as he started with a grand prix victory, comfortably winning the Parts Europe Grand Prix of Valencia in Spain this afternoon. The 23 year old Australian was never challenged during the 30 lap encounter round the 2.489 miles Ricardo Tormo circuit after taking the lead on the second bend on the very first lap. Pedrosa, who won the race last year for Repsol Honda, could not stay with Stoner’s Marlboro Ducati and the 2007 World Champion raced towards his sixth win of the season. World Champion Valentino Rossi made a great start from the fourth row of the grid but once into third place on the Fiat Yamaha could make no impression on the two leaders. The Italian had to settle for a lonely third place with his 16th podium finish of the season.

Rossi & Stoner Crash at Treacherous Valencia
24 October 2008
World Champions old and new made the headlines in treacherous conditions in the first day of practice for Parts Europe Grand Prix of Valencia in Spain this afternoon. Drizzly rain made the 2.489 miles Ricardo Tormo circuit very slippery and World Champion Valentino Rossi fell in the afternoon, last year’s World Champion Casey Stoner in the morning while the 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden led the way after the two sessions. Rossi’s Valencia jinx continued when he fell at turn 14 in the afternoon from the Fiat Yamaha but like Stoner who crashed at turn ten, he was unhurt. Drying Dani Grabs Pole
18 October 2008
For once the weather in this season of rain turned the qualifying session for the Polini Grand Prix of Malaysia into the most exciting of the year. After some typical heavy rain the 3.447 miles Sepang circuit was wet at the start of the one hour session but started to dry dramatically in the sunshine. After nearly every rider took their turn at the front in the changing conditions the final ten minutes turned into a superb shoot-out. Spaniard Dani Pedrosa, still limping from his crash in Australia 13 days ago, pipped World Champion Valentino Rossi for just his second pole of the season in the dying seconds. Another Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo, who’d taken his turn at the front on the Fiat Yamaha, completed the front row in third place.

17 August 2008
