Tech 3 Yamaha Show Fighting Spirit In Brno

Tech 3 Yamaha’s James Toseland and Colin Edwards raced to top 15 results in today’s Czech Republic GP. In front of a record crowd of over 146,000 fans at a cool and cloudy Brno, the 22-lap race proved to be a tough challenge for Toseland and Edwards, who both gave their maximum effort in difficult circumstances to claim 13th and 14th places respectively. Starting from the back row of the grid, Toseland made his customary good start, gaining two places on the first lap. The 27-year-old once again showed his never-say-die attitude, despite some traction issues as he scored points for the ninth time in 11 races.

Gibernau Ends the Ducati Testing Session at Mugello

Sete Gibernau finished a two-days testing session he was taking part in at Mugello together with the Official Testers Vittoriano Guareschi and Niccola Canepa that will continue tomorrow for the final day. The Spanish rider, back in action for the third time after retiring almost two years ago, kept up an excellent pace, lapping consistently in around 1m50.5 with race tyre. Despite the difficult climatic conditions, with scorching air and track temperatures, Gibernau clocked an impressive fastest lap time in 1m48.9 with qualifying tyres. A crash around the end of the day, luckily without consequences, has nevertheless suggested to end the test early given the good job already made during two days.

Capirossi Back Up To Speed And On Podium

Ducati Marlboro Team rider Loris Capirossi rode a brilliant race to second place in punishing heat at the Sachsenring this afternoon, while team-mate Casey Stoner came home in fifth to maintain his lead at the top of the World Championship. Capirossi chose a different compound rear Bridgestone to Stoner and the Italian's choice paid dividends in the later stages of the race when he came through from fourth place to second. The newly resurfaced Sachsenring is ultra-demanding on tyres and today's ground temperature of more than 50 degree made tyre choice even more critical than usual. Capirossi attributed his speed to a revised engine spec and weight distribution, as well as a canny tyre choice.
