Yamaha Riders Rule At Italian Championship Season Opener

Yamaha’s main contenders for the MX1 and MX2 world titles proved to be ready for the upcoming challenge by winning both heats in both MX1 and MX2 classes at the first Italian championship race held at Montevarchi in dry, but cloudy conditions. Yamaha Motocross Team MX1 star Joshua Coppins and Antonio Cairoli of Team Yamaha de Carli competing in MX2 had to ride hard for their moto victories, resisting pressure from several world title contenders including their team mates and other fellow Yamaha riders. Particularly in MX2 the dominance of YZ250F riders was striking with the top six in the overall day result being Yamaha mounted.

De Dycker Takes Top Five For Honda In Difficult Italian Grand Prix

CAS Honda rider Ken De Dycker raced to fifth position in the Italian Grand Prix despite a second moto crash at a dry and sunny Montevarchi circuit. Martin Honda rider Javier Garcia Vico obtained sixth overall which constituted his highest GP finish in more than two years.

2nd Double Podium For Suzuki

Team Suzuki’s Kevin Strijbos and Steve Ramon repeated their runner-up and third positions respectively from Bulgaria last week at a sunny and breezy Montevarchi circuit for the Italian Grand Prix today. The seventh round of the 2006 FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship took place in front of 25,000 spectators and witnessed another excellent performance from the team and the works RM-Z450s.

Cairoli Runner-Up At Home Grand Prix Thriller

World Champion Antonio Cairoli entertained his many fans with two exciting motos at a sunny Montevarchi today for the seventh round of the MX2 FIM World Championship. The De Carli Yamaha rider had the 26,000 attendance on its feet as he fought with friend and rival David Philippaerts for victory until the last laps but eventually had to settle for a brace of runner-up positions.

Everts Again, Italy Falls To The Factory Yamaha's World Championship Siege

The list of adjectives to describe MX1 World Championship leader Stefan Everts and his YZ450FM is growing perilously short after the reigning number one maintained his 100% record this season by winning the Italian Grand Prix in front of 26,000 fans at Montevarchi today. The 33 year old claimed both motos to stretch his haul of consecutive victories to eleven, and seven from seven Grand Prix. His career total now stands at a phenomenal 94 and he has eight remaining rounds from which to reach a magical 100.

Team Suzuki’s Kevin Strijbos successfully guided his works RM-Z450 to the second fastest time under hot and sunny skies at the Montevarchi circuit for the UFO Italian Grand Prix.

Suzuki Men Head To Italy

Team Suzuki will shortly arrive at the Montevarchi circuit set in the scenic landscapes of the countryside 40km south of Florence for the UFO Grand Prix of Italy and the seventh round of action in the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship. Stefan Everts has been dominating the series so far and has owned all six races until this point. The Belgian RM-Z450 mounted duo of Kevin Strijbos and Steve Ramon have taken six podium results between them and both lie with the top five of the Championship standings. The pair gave Suzuki a very healthy presence on the rostrum last week as Strijbos finished runner-up and Ramon was third after a muddy meeting in Bulgaria.
