2008 AMA SBK Parts Unlimited & Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix

The AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited will contest the first of two rounds to be held this season at the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit in Monterey, Calif. The July stop has also become an annual meeting with the superstars of the MotoGP World Championship, widely considered the pinnacle of global motorcycle road racing. The MotoGP field boasts some of the AMA Superbike Championship's most decorated graduates, led by 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden, a former AMA Superbike and Supersport champ. Hayden won the U.S. Grand Prix in 2005 and 2006. 1992 AMA 250GP champion Colin Edwards is another top MotoGP competitor with an AMA Superbike pedigree. The Texan has been performing impressively this season, regularly finishing in the top five and occasionally landing on the podium. Unfortunately, former AMA Formula Xtreme and Superstock king John Hopkins will be unable to compete in front of his home fans at Laguna Seca, ruled out by injury.

Ace Cafe London's 70th anniversary and 15th annual Ace Cafe Reunion, a special party weekend that is being filmed for USA TVs Speed Channel, starts on Friday 12th September with the arrival from 6pm of The Continental Run for the cafe's Bike Night, with Dyno Shoot-Out and rockin' sounds from The Unknowns and DJ Jimmy Guntrip. Saturday 13th September, join us for breakfast at the Ace from 7am. A Cafe Racer & Rockers Ride-Out will depart at Noon to the London Motorcycle Museum in Greenford, which is being filmed for a USA TV documentary 'Cafe Society', returning to the cafe for a Cafe Racer Review at 2.30pm with awards for the 'Best Ridden Cafe Racer' and two runners-up, being presented by special guests Colin Campbell (Actor in the film 'The Leather Boys'), David Hailwood, Dave Degens and actor Oliver Tobias (featured in the book 'Rockers! by Johnny Stuart)

Reed 2008 Champion With Las Vegas Victory

Chad Reed is the new 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross /FIM World Championship number one after registering his ninth victory of the season in front of more than 39,000 spectators at the Sam Boyd stadium in Las Vegas last weekend. The Australian, still recovering from a broken shoulder blade, went into the final round of seventeen with a ten point lead over main rival Kevin Windham but blitzed the field once more aboard his YZ450F to clinch his second crown in the class (the other obtained in 2004).

Reed Takes 10 Points to Season Finale, Lawrence Lites Champion

A title-worthy performance from Yamaha's San Manuel rider Chad Reed, after pulling back from a first corner crash to finish second, at Qwest Field in Seattle for the penultimate round of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series (also an FIM World Championship) means that the Australian carries a ten point advantage to Las Vegas in search of his second crown next week. Yamaha of Troy's Jason Lawrence claimed the West Region Lites series with his YZ250F.

Unified Racing Championship Details Announced

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) are pleased to announce the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship. The 2008 championship, for the first time ever, will combine both the AMA sanctioned Supercross Series and the FIM sanctioned World Supercross GP programs into a single, consolidated championship and will crown one supercross champion.

USA Dominate 61st Motocross Of Nations

Kawasaki enjoyed a successful afternoon at the biggest and most prestigious Motocross event of the year as Ryan Villopoto and Tim Ferry guided their KX250F and KX450Fs to help Team USA celebrate their eighteenth capture of the Chamberlain trophy in the 61st edition of the international Nations competition. Team GPKR’s Sebastien Pourcel was part of the French trio that gained second place. From the nine riders on the final podium, one third steered KX motorcycle technology.

Three-way Dogfight For AMA Supersport Coming Into Road Atlanta

About the only sure thing in the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei is that this year’s champion will likely have a last name that begins with the letter H. Road Atlanta will host the penultimate rounds of the Supersport series this Sunday, Sept. 2. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Roger Hayden and Jamie Hacking lead the series, with the youngest of the racing Hayden brothers holding an 11-point margin over the defending champ Hacking. A victory in the most recent round at Virginia International Raceway by Erion Honda’s Josh Hayes has moved him back into contention for the title as well. Hayes is just seven points behind Hacking in third.

AMA Announces 2007 Motocross of Nations - Monster AMA Team USA

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has announced the members of AMA Team USA. The team will compete at the 2007 Motocross of Nations (MXoN) scheduled for Sept. 22- 23, at Budds Creek Motocross Raceway in Maryland. The riders selected to represent the United States are James Stewart (MX1), Ryan Villopoto (MX2), and Ricky Carmichael (MX3). The team was announced yesterday, along with Monster Energy being named the team sponsor during ceremonies at the 2007 AMA Air Nautiques Amateur Motocross National Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

Hacking Getting Back Into AMA Supersport Championship Picture

Never count out Jamie Hacking. After a spectacular crash in round two of the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei in Birmingham, Ala., in April, Hacking’s Monster Energy Kawasaki lay in shambles. His title defense hopes appeared to be in the same sad state. Now, as the series moves to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, on June 24, Hacking has scratched and clawed his way back into championship contention.

A Big Showdown In Store At Las Vegas AMA SX Finale

The season finale of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas this Saturday, May 5, will feature one race of celebration and another a highly anticipated showdown. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s James Stewart clinched the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series title last weekend in Seattle and will attempt to go for his 13th win of the season. His Las Vegas race will be a coronation run for Stewart, who has dominated the season with 12 wins in the 15 rounds leading up to Saturday’s finale. Stewart’s 2007 season joins Jeremy McGrath’s 1996 and Ricky Carmichael’s 2001 season as one of the best performances in the history of the series.

Stewart Looking To Continue Supercross Streak

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s James Stewart is on a roll. The defending San Francisco Supercross winner comes to round four of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series undefeated in the first three rounds and leads the championship coming into San Francisco’s AT&T Park this Saturday, Jan., 27, 2007. The race will be televised on CBS.
