Ducati Sweeps the Board at Awards Ceremony

More than 35,000 readers of the major Italian bike magazine Motociclismo voted for their Bike of the Year 2008 and gave a huge vote of confidence towards Ducati giving them their best ever result in the Sport Bike catergory, best in Supermotard and a major result in the Naked Bike categories. Choosing from 280 models split into 12 categories, including 125cc, Cruiser, Naked, Dual, Enduro, Supermotard, Touring, Sport Bike, Sport Touring, and three scooter categories, the public’s favourite and most eagerly awaited award was for best Sport Bike. For the first time ever in the history of such awards presented by motorcycle magazines, a single manufacturer – Ducati – had recorded an unprecedented clean sweep of votes and claimed the first three places.

Another extraordinary success for MV Agusta

Varese 9th of May 2008 – In the striking atmosphere of the Rocchetta courtyard in the Sforzesco Castle in Milan, over 500 guests attended the “Bike of the Year 2008” ceremony hosted by Motociclismo (a magazine with over 90 years of history) where the MV Agusta Brutale 1078RR claimed the overall title of Bike of the Year. Along with the overall victory, the Brutale also won Best Bike in the naked category for the eighth year in a row, confirming its everlasting desirability. In this category the Brutale 1078RR beat some of the toughest competition on the market by obtaining 17% of the votes compared to 7% of the closest rival, the Ducati Monster 696, and 4% of the third-placed motorcycle, the BMW R1200R.

21st SBK World Championship Gets Underway With Official Launch In Milan

The 2008 Superbike World Championship, which gets underway on February 23rd with the opening round in Qatar, was officially presented this afternoon at Superstudio Più’ in Milan. This year’s edition was presented by representatives of the major partners of the world championship for production-based bikes: Paolo Flammini, CEO of FGSport, Kevin Chang, President of HANNSpree Europe, Sergio Cravero, Marketing Manager of Mondo Alfa Romeo and Alberto Viganò, Marketing Director of Pirelli Tyres (Bike Business Unit).

The New "Superbike 2007" Videogame Launched At EICMA In Milan

The public were in true festive spirit this afternoon at the Paddock Show in the Motolive area of the Eicma bike show in Milan. The big attractions for the occasion were the champions of the Superbike World Championship, and first and foremost Troy Bayliss, generally acclaimed not only for winning the 2006 Superbike world title, but also for his splendid performance in the last race of the MotoGP championship in Valencia. Troy was together with his team mate Lorenzo Lanzi from Ducati Xerox Team. Troy and Lorenzo, just back from riding in the Pirelli tests at Valencia, showed their usual willingness to meet Superbike fans and answer questions from journalists and members of the public.

Milan EICMA International Motobike Show

The 64th edition of the EICMA International Milan Motorbike Show started in style on Tuesday and will entertain motorbike fans and industry visitors until Sunday. The 2006 show fill 48,500 square metres, with 1000 exhibitors coming from 32 different countries to fill the new Milan/Rho exhibition centre. Described as the biggest motorbike show in the world, the Milan show is set to become an annual event with a probable reunification with the bicycle show.

The SBK Paddock Show At EICMA In Milan

The EICMA bike show gets under way in Milan tomorrow, Thursday 16th November. In particular, the WSBK Corona Extra Paddock Show opens its doors at 4 p.m. in the Motolive area to present the new “Superbike 2007” game, created in collaboration with Black Bean. Troy Bayliss, 2006 Superbike world champion, will be there for the occasion and will try the new game on the Play Station. Black Bean has distributors throughout Europe, and as far as Australia and South Africa, and there can be no doubt that the presentation of this long awaited game will give yet another boost to the popularity of the Superbike World Championship.

New BMW Bikes Launched At Eicma Milan Show

New 2006 BMW R1200 S Supersport, premiered to the world’s media at the international motorcycle show (EICMA) in Milan. In addition to the exciting new sports model, a further three 2006 BMW motorcycles will also be launched in Milan this week (16-20 November). Announced last month the BMW F800 S, featuring the first twin-cylinder engine in the history of BMW Motorrad, will be on display alongside the new F800 ST Sports Tourer derivative and a new generation K1200 GT Tourer.
