Honda Announces IOM TT 50th Anniversary of Racing Activities

2009 celebrates a landmark year for Honda with its 50th anniversary of racing – which started at the Isle of Man TT in 1959. Honda (UK) is looking forward to this year’s TT with the aim of adding to Honda’s impressive tally of TT and wider racing accolades, furthering the HM Plant Honda team’s road racing successes and supporting John McGuinness’ quest to take second place in the line up of all time TT victories behind Joey Dunlop.

The Mike Hailwood Memorial Run - March 29th

David Hailwood, Mike's son, will attend and ride in The Mike Hailwood Memorial Run for the first time this year. David returned with his wife and young son from Spain last Spring to live permantly in England. He has settled in Hertfordshire and is running a motorcycle restoration business, Hailwood Restorations. The company will restore any type of motorcycle from any period and also construct Norvin's and Triton's.

Toseland Signs for KiddiMoto

Expo 2009 will see the debut of the exciting new HEROES range of wooden balance bikes from Kiddimoto. The ?rst replica in the range, Mike Hailwood, has proved a resounding success and now three more world champions have been signed to this exclusive range, including the man of the moment, James Toseland. Based upon his 2008 machine, the Toseland replica will sit in the illustrious company of a further two stars of the past four decades, to be unveiled at Expo. This is one line-up not to be missed.

Motorcycle Magic at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

The array of striking and famous motorcycles and world-class riders at this year’s Festival of Speed, held at Goodwood Park from 11-13 July, proved to be one of the event’s top attractions. A wide selection of exotic world-beating two-wheeled machinery was on hand including the famous motorcycles of legendary TT winners John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Joey Dunlop, David Jeffries and John McGuinness, as well as a historic look back at the revolutionary machinery that began racing at Brooklands almost one hundred years ago.

Friends Reunited at Goodwood Festival of Speed

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Rizla Suzuki Team Manager Jack Valentine was reunited with David Jeffries 1999 TT winning Yamaha that made history after breaking Honda's 17 year winning domination of the TT Formula one race. Jack had not seen the machine since 2001 when he sold to its current owner following a disastrous season due the cancellation of the TT because of the Foot and Mouth epidemic. This was the first time the actual machine certified by the team as the race winner had been exhibited in the UK, since being sold. Many replicas of this machine that exist have been since masqueraded as the TT winner at numerous shows and exhibitions.

Duke Release IOM TT '61 & '62 on CD

The Isle of Man TT has produced some of the most memorable motorcycle racing in history, contests which created legends and shaped the modern sport. In the early 1960s, the Isle of Man’s famous Mountain circuit played host to the likes of Mike Hailwood, Bob McIntyre, Jim Redman, Gary Hocking and many more as they battled for the ultimate prize in motorcycle sport.

60 Years of MotoGP & Champions Honoured at Donington

This year sees the 60th season Anniversary of MotoGP. Dorna, the company behind MotoGP, held a press conference yesterday (20th June) at Donington Park media centre to mark this special Anniversary and the very first ceremony handing out the 'MotoGP Champions Towers' to all past winners of the world championship. Present at the UK conference was Dave Hailwood, the son of the legendary Mike Hailwood who won the championship consecutively from 1962 - 1965, Phil Read who was world champion in 1973 and 1974, Stuart Graham who's father was TT winner Les Graham and the first man to win a MotoGP race 60 years ago in 1949. Of course it wasn't called MotoGP back in 1949, it was known as the 500cc World Championship.

A Chance to Own A Piece of IOM History

The Isle of Man TT remains the greatest motorcycle race on Earth, and as it enters its second century Duke is offering fans a rare opportunity to own vintage recordings from a golden period of the event’s history.
Originally released on vinyl as part of the Stanley Schofield Sound Stories archive, these wonderful recordings include highlights from the 1958 Senior TT, sounds from racing in 1959 and coverage from 1960.

Ducati to Celebrate 50 Years of TT
