Cal Crutchlow battled to a brave win in today’s Bennetts British Superbike races at Brands Hatch, less than a week after dislocating his right ankle. Cal led the first 15 laps of race one before being overtaken by race-winner Shane Byrne down the Cooper Straight and then by Suzuki’s Tom Sykes on the same lap at Surtees. He eventually finished third. Meanwhile, HM Plant Honda team-mate Leon Haslam was hampered by a poor start, which saw him down in 10th at the end of the first lap.

Two Top Fives for Ben Wilson at Oulton
06 May 2008
Ben Wilson was in fine form at Oulton Park when he rode to fifth place in the Metzeler National Superstock championship following up with a dazzling ride to third in the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup on Monday. It was Wilson’s first outing in the Superstock series and he began the weekend by posting fourth place in first qualifying with a fast time of 1m. 40.956s – just over a second away from pole setter Jon Kirkham. Second qualifying saw the pace hot up and the Boston rider was relegated to eighth place for a second row start to Monday’s 15-lap encounter. Despite dropping to the second row Wilson was still only a second away from pole and was confident he could match the times of the front-runners.

21 April 2008
The Bennetts British Superbike season finally saw some racing today at the super-fast Thruxton circuit in Hampshire and it proved to be an excellent day for the HM Plant Honda team. In the Superbike category Cal Crutchlow took his first win in the class in the second race following his runner-up spot in race one. Meanwhile in Supersport and Superstock Steve Brogan completed a magnificent double by taking a win apiece in both classes. One HM Plant teamster who was not so lucky was Leon Haslam.
