Team Co-ordit Head to Mallory
26 June 2008
Co-ordit Racing heads to Mallory Park, Leicestershire, this weekend to contest the sixth round of the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike Championship (27-29 June). As one of the team’s local circuits, expectations will be high, as will local support, for Dean Ellison and Pete Bradshaw to show their mettle as they battle for points around the testing 1.41 mile circuit. Now based in Leicester, Mallory Park has become a local circuit for Dean Ellison, who makes his first visit to the circuit since 2006. Recovered from injury, Dean has set himself high targets ahead of the weekend and will use his world and domestic race experience to elevate his Co-ordit Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 into the top ten for the first time this season. With two long 30-lap races scheduled for Sunday, Dean will use the full potential of the Co-ordit Racing Yamaha’s power to challenge at the sharp-end.

LB's Sam Middlemas' R6 Inferno Disaster
17 June 2008 | 3 Comments
You can help - Fancy your name on the bike from just £10? - This past weekend, disaster struck for LB’s national Superstock 600 rider Sam Middlemas who was racing at Mallory Park after just getting a Yamaha R6. Middlemas crashed after hitting some brake fluid left on the exit of the bus stop during qualifying. His new R6 caught fire after the fuel-tank split and allowed petrol to flow out, which in turn ignited. The marshals were quickly on the scene and did their up-most to put the inferno out. Unfortunately this lasted for what seemed like an eternity and left Sam with a very swollen knee and a very burnt and looking R6.

Bad Luck for Bruce Wilson at Snetterton
16 June 2008
Bruce Wilson encountered even more bad luck when he crashed heavily in practice ahead of Sunday’s fifth round Superstock 600 championship race at Snetterton on Sunday. Practice began well for the Gipsey Bridge rider who was circulating in second place in the opening session but as he negotiated Russell’s chicane the Team Motorcycle Racer Suzuki highsided and threw him off onto the tarmac. It was a race against time to get the bike repaired in time for the first qualifying period and although battered and bruised from his earlier mishap Wilson was up for the challenge. But he soon discovered a problem with the brakes and was forced to retire without recording a qualifying time.

Ben Wilson Sines at Snetterton
16 June 2008
Ben Wilson rode to a brace of top seven places at Snetterton but was denied the chance to shine in the second of the two Superstock races because of the adverse weather conditions that caused a long delay earlier in the day. With two races in the Metzeler National Superstock championship to contend with, the 26-year-old Boston rider was anticipating another pair of strong finishes, but a crash in qualifying put paid to a strong grid position and he had to be content with a third row start in ninth place.

HM Plant Honda heads to Snetterton in Norfolk this weekend as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship meets for round five of the 12-round season. The flat, former airfield circuit offers high-speed action thanks to the long Revett Straight as well as some challenging corners. Both HM Plant Honda Superbike riders have been off to Japan in the break to test for their forthcoming race at the Suzuka Eight-Hour, as well as taking part in last weekend’s Suzuka 300km race. Meanwhile Steve Brogan has been training hard in the gym so he’s in the best physical shape for the weekend. In the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship, Steve intends to close the gap on series leader Glen Richards, while continuing to dominate in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 series.

Gypsey Bridge rider Bruce Wilson is gearing up for a further challenge in the fifth round of the National Superstock 600 championship, which is set for Snetterton in Norfolk on Sunday. Wilson who rides for Team Motorcycle Racer Magazine was again denied a top 10 finish because of a red flag situation in the last round of the series at Donington Park three weeks ago but with a wealth of track knowledge behind him from previous outings at the Norfolk circuit he is positive he can break into the top 1o this time around.

In his last outing Wilson rode to a superb double runner-up spot in the Henderson Cup, which enjoyed two races at Donington to make up for the cancellation of the Brands Hatch round earlier in the year. Despite encountering problems with the braking system Wilson nursed the Yamaha R1 home in seventh place in the Superstock championship.

Points finishes had not come easy for rider or team as they overcame the effects of both physical and technical difficulties, throughout the weekend.

Bruce Wilson Denied Points Finish at Donington
27 May 2008
The red flag put paid to Bruce Wilson’s hopes of a points finish in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 round at Donington when the red flag brought the race to a halt after just two laps. Qualifying had seen Wilson from Gipsey Bridge near Boston secure a sixth row grid position in 24th place and at the lights he got away to a fantastic start moving up to 16th place on lap two of a scheduled 14. But proceedings came to an abrupt halt for an incident at the Melbourne Loop and a complete re-run was announced over a shortened distance of 11 laps and Wilson had to do it all over again.

Double Podium for Wilson at Donington
27 May 2008
Former British Superbike rider Ben Wilson rode to a double podium finish in his two Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup races at Donington Park on Bank Holiday Monday and very nearly made it a hat trick as he led the Metzeler National Superstock round from the off. But after encountering brake problems with the Ben-Wilson-Racing Yamaha R1 he dropped back to finish seventh. The R1 Cup enjoyed a double header at Donington to make up for the disappointment of the cancelled season opener at Brands Hatch earlier in the year. Grid positions for the opening race of the day were carried forward from Brands with Wilson placed on row two and he was itching for the race to get underway.

20 May 2008
Shane Byrne is the rider in form in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship and he intends to continue his dominant run in the country’s premier series in the fourth round at the Donington Park grand prix circuit on Spring Bank Holiday Monday 26th May. The Airwaves Ducati rider has won four of the six races so far, finishing second in the other two, as he bids to regain the crown he won some five years ago, but he feels that his record should be better, having missed out on completing a second winning double of the season at Brands Hatch.

Bruce Wilson – Donington Park Review
20 May 2008
Bruce Wilson will be hoping for a race finish at Donington Park in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 class after being knocked from his machine in the previous round at Brands Hatch. The Gipsey Bridge rider was following the pace car in the early stages of the race when another rider collided with him at Pilgrim’s Drop sending him flying to the ground and out of the race.

Ben Wilson to Contest Three Races at Donington
20 May 2008
With a double header in the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup and a ride in the National Superstock championship, Boston rider Ben Wilson is in for a busy time at Donington Park on Whit Monday. The first race of the season was postponed because of snow at Brands Hatch in early April and it was decided the R1 Cup riders would be spared the long trip back down to the Kent circuit for the re-run and would have two races at Donington Park instead. Ben Wilson will be hoping to capitalise from this by securing two good results on Monday.

Drama for Bevan at Brands!
13 May 2008
Keen to overcome the disappointment of his Oulton Park race last week, Co-ordit Superstock pilot Phil Bevan turned in a spirited performance to hold off a strong race-long challenge from Michael Elliott to finish fourteenth and collect his first two Championship points (11 May). Drama ensued from the start for Bevan as, starting deep in the pack, the Cardiff rider made a great start but was clipped by Alex Camier’s Kawasaki. Bevan escaped, unscathed but Camier and a number of other riders crashed bringing out the Safety Car and ultimately the Red Flag while riders were attended to and wreckage cleared from the track.
