First Ride to the Wall a Huge Success

The inaugural annual Ride to the Wall event which took place last October saw more than 2,500 motorcyclists ride together to the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield, Staffs to remember all the troops that have died on duty since World War II.

The Mike Hailwood Memorial Run - March 29th

David Hailwood, Mike's son, will attend and ride in The Mike Hailwood Memorial Run for the first time this year. David returned with his wife and young son from Spain last Spring to live permantly in England. He has settled in Hertfordshire and is running a motorcycle restoration business, Hailwood Restorations. The company will restore any type of motorcycle from any period and also construct Norvin's and Triton's.

Ride to the Wall Now Open to All Riders

Such is the interest in the first ever UK Ride to the Wall (RTTW) event – dedicated to troops that have died on duty since World War II – that it is now open for riders of all motorcycle marques. The event is already proving very popular and organisers have accepted more than 700 registrations for the ride and short Memorial service to the Armed Forces at the National Memorial Arboretum near Burton on Trent, Staffordshire on Saturday 11th October.

Sykes Receives Rookie Of The Year Award

Rizla Suzuki’s Tom Sykes collected the Steve Hislop Memorial Trophy during the Bennetts British Superbike Awards at the International Motorcycle Show in Birmingham today. The trophy is awarded to the young rider who has improved the most over the season and this year it deservedly went to Sykes. In his debut British Superbike season he achieved six front row starts, one pole position and five podium finishes.

Little more than six weeks after launching the fund at Brand’s Hatch in late March, support for the Chris Jones Memorial Fund is growing. Originally created in the tragic aftermath of 14-year-old Chris’ death, there are now plans to roll out various events throughout the year and beyond. The aim of the Memorial Fund is to identify and help to purchase vital equipment to enhance safety at the racetracks.
