Excel Shows Proves a Success for Centurion Racing

The Centurion Racing Team enjoyed a successful four days at the London MCN bike show held at the Excel last weekend. The team took time out from their busy preparation for the new season, where they are running Dennis Hobbs, James Westmoreland and Dan Cooper in the British Supersport series, to give their support to the London show.

Ducati At MCN London Motorcycle Show 2008

Ducati attend this year’s London Motorcycle Show on the back of a phenomenal 2007 for the Italian manufacturer. Last year saw one of the strongest model line ups ever to leave the Bologna production line bringing success both on and off the track. While the 1098 was winning awards and acclaim throughout the world, Ducati was dominating the MotoGP Championship in a remarkable season that saw Casey Stoner claim the World Championship and helped Ducati to the constructors' crown and teams' title.

MCN London Motorcycle Show at ExCeL, Docklands, started in London this week, which runs to the 4th February. BMW Motorrad UK is one of the main exhibitors at the new show (which has moved to ExCel after more than 20 years at Alexandra Palace) and is bringing across the current European Stuntriding Champion especially for the occasion.

Steve McQueen – King of The Biker Icons

Hollywood legend Steve McQueen has been voted the most iconic biker of all time, according to a MCN London Motorcycle Show survey. The 1960s all-action film star took one in every four of the 2254 votes registered on Yahoo! Cars. McQueen, who died of lung cancer in 1980, saw off a list of motorcycle racing legends, actors and stunt riders in the New Year poll.

Hollywood beauty, Angelina Jolie, has been voted the bikers all-time dream pillion passenger, a survey revealed today. Jolie topped the poll for the MCN London Motorcycle Show ’07, which included fellow stunners Milla Jovovich and Elle ‘The Body’ Macpherson. Boyfriend, Brad Pitt, whom the ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ star is often seen riding pillion with, came in ninth spot behind ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Long Way Round’ actor, Ewan McGregor.

Introduce New Motorcycle Section For '07'

The organisers of the London Motorsport Show have enjoyed such phenomenal exhibitor growth in their first year at ExCeL London that they are already making expansion plans for 2007 with the introduction of a motorcycle section. Philip Bunn, Organiser said: “We have created a great platform for professional motorsport in London and it makes perfect sense to move this on to the next level by introducing motorcycle racing. Again, the motorcycle section will cover all disciplines making the show totally unique as it will represent all forms of motor sport.”

Leon Haslam Wins Man Of The Year Award

Leon Haslam won the most prestigious accolade of his career to date yesterday when he was voted Man of the Year at the MCN Awards. The award, which is voted for by MCN readers, has an impressive list of previous winners including John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Giagomo Agostini and 2005 winner Valentino Rossi. Two ex GSE riders Neil Hodgson and James Toseland are also previous winners of the award. Leon follows in his dad, Ron’s, footsteps as he was awarded Man of the Year in 1981.
