Time To Get Your Motorcycle Licence

As details of new motorcycle licence test arrangements for late 2008 are finalised by the Government, the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) is launching a major campaign to encourage people to take up motorcycling and get their full licence. Driven by European legislation, The Second European Driving Licence Directive, or 2DLD, will come into force in September 2008 and will introduce new elements to motorcycle testing and training.

Drive The Debate On Bikes In Bus Lanes With Industry Campaigns

The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) is urging people to help drive the debate on bikes in bus lanes by supporting its online lobbying activity. The MCI is carrying out a poll to generate public support to influence policy so that all Local Authorities will allow motorcycles in bus lanes to help reduce casualties.

Research Reveals The 'F' Factor is Revitalised by Motorcycling

Research carried out by the Motor Cycle Industry Association revels that the 'F' factor is live and kicking for National Motorcycle Week. Huddersfield University researched rider's attitudes in a project 'The Search for Adventure in Motorcycling' and found that, freedom, fun and friendship emerged as important themes for riders - alongside 'fulfilment'.

UK Sales Drop 13% In April

The latest figures from the MCI show that new bike registrations fell by 13% during April 2006. Mopeds and moped scooters under 50cc dropped by 21%, with 1487 units registered, against 1,893 in April 2005, despite some of the highest fuel prices ever recorded across the UK.

Motorcycle Community Welcomes Debate On Bikes In Bus Lanes

The MCI and the motorcycle community have welcomed a debate, which took place this week in the House of Commons, on the opening of bus lanes for motorcycles. The debate, responded to by Minister for Transport Dr Stephen Ladyman MP, highlighted that there have been no negative effects caused by bikes in bus lanes and that unless there is any special reason Local Authorities should be permitting and encouraging this practical and safe use of bus lanes.

ACU Urge Action into Mini Bike's

The latest news in from the ACU, who want to see youngsters on mini moto machines to recieve some training and wear the correct protective riding gear. These kids also need a safe place to ride, somewhere they are not breaking the law or annoying residents. Head of the ACU’s Local Authority Support Unit (LASU) Dave Luscombe, voices his full support over the Motor Cycle Industry Association’s (MCI) press release. Warning buyers of mini moto bikes and the large increase in poor quality imports coming into the UK. Basic safety features are often omitted in a bid to keep costs to a bare minimum and this increases the possibility of injury in the event of an accident.

The official UK registration figures for new motorcycles and scooters during November 2005, have just released the by The MCI. Overall, the sales of new bike, moped and scooter registrations are all down by 4%. Scooter and moped sales have fallen sharply by 25% and 53% respectively, with motorcycle sales rising 'allegedly' to counteract the trend in decreasing moped and scooter sales.
