Max Nagl Unlucky at Home MX1 GP

Red Bull KTM rider Max Nagl got off to a great start in the MX1 GP of Germany in Teutschenthal on Sunday but technical difficulties denied him the chance of a probable podium. The German factory rider took a confident holeshot in the first moto and was having no problems sticking with the front riders when technical difficulties foiled his chances of raking in points.

KTM rider Jonathan Barragan was celebrating last night after taking the overall win in the MX1 Grand Prix of Britain on Sunday after he was third and first in the two individual motos.
The Spanish rider from the KTM supported Team Silver Action was in brilliant form on the man made track at Mallory Park, the first time the MX World Championships had competed on the varied and technically challenging circuit.

Great Britain will play host to the sixth round of the FIM Motocross World series this weekend on the brand new course at Mallory Park, which was built inside the famous road racing facility. David Philippaerts leads the MX1 standings since the Portuguese Grand Prix while Tyla Rattray and Tony Cairoli are still battling tooth and nail for the MX2 lead, currently owned by the South African. In occasion of the British Grand Prix, the FIM Veterans’ Motocross World Cup will restart with the second of three rounds. Dutchman Toine van Dijk leads the points standings after Spain with home rider and last year’s Cup winner Dave Thorpe ready to fight back.

Nagl Wins Second MX1 Heat at Italian GP

Red Bull KTM factory rider Max Nagl of Germany was on top form in the second race of the MX1 Grand Prix of Italy in Mantova on Sunday to be first past the checkered flag ahead of David Philippaerts and Marc de Reuver. On a day where rain attacked the track in the second half of the MX1 competition, Nagl put in one of his most impressive performances for the current season for overall fifth place on the day. It was a significant improvement on his twelfth ranking in the first race and the first time since joining the MX1 class that he had lead the rest of the field home.

Barragan Denied Victory in Last Minutes in Bulgaria

KTM Team Silver Action rider Jonathan Barragan looked certain to take victory in the second moto and seal his MX1 Grand Pix win in Sevlievo, Bulgaria on Sunday when a mistake in the last stretch of race two denied him the overall victory. On a day where rain fell before the second race to create a whole different set of conditions on the normally hard packed track, the Spanish KTM rider did go on to be second overall to rescue a podium place and pick up more valuable championship points.

FIM MX World Champioship Back to Work at Sevlievo

Following a week break from Grand Prix racing, the fourth round of the 2008 series will get underway this weekend at the beautiful circuit of Sevlievo, in Bulgaria. The first meeting of the month will see a completely different situation compared to the pre Agueda points standings. David Philippaerts is now leading the MX1 class with Italian countryman Tony Cairoli back on top of the MX2 classifications courtesy of his Portuguese double victory. Though with 12 rounds to the end the Championship is still to be decided.

FIM MX GP Campaign To Begin At Sandy Valkenswaard

Last year the sandy Valkenswaard Eurocircuit opened the first season of World Motocross without ten time World Champion Stefan Everts, who had retired at the end of 2006. USA favourites Take Red Bull FIM Motocross Of Nations

As expected, the strong home team emerged winners of the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations competition at Budds Creek, Maryland, on Sunday after the competition returned to the USA for the first time in two decades. USA has won the competition more often in its 61 years of history than any other country and was also the defending champion. France was second in the three race event that matched the world's best riders across disciplines and Belgium took the minor podium place, with contributions from Jeremy van Horebeek on board a KTM machine.

Barragan MX1 Evert's "Man of the Day" In Bulgaria

KTM Red Bull MX1 factory rider Jonathan Barragan finally put injured shoulder problems aside, snatched overall second place in the 8th round of the World Championships and won praise from team boss Stefan Everts as his MX1 Man of the Day in Bulgaria. The Spanish rider has been plagued with injuries to the right and left shoulders from crashes in earlier rounds. He won the first heat then fought his way back to fifth after a crash in the second to relish his reward on the podium of the Bulgarian Grand Prix. "I finally got a grip on my shoulder problems and I felt good today," the Spaniard said. "I like this track and now I want to move on from here and get as many podiums at possible for the rest of the season. I want to be in the top three at the end of the season."

Philippaerts Denied Podium In Japan; Crash For Barragan

After an excellent start in the first MX1 race on the Sugoland motocross circuit north of Tokyo where KTM Red Bull factory riders Jonathan Barragan and David Philippaerts were second and fourth respectively, the MX1 riders were unable to convert the result. The Italian Philippaerts managed sixth in race two for an eventual overall fourth position, whereas the Spaniard Barragan crashed several times and when he was among one of a number of riders who came unstuck going over the tabletop he decided to retire from race two.

MX Goes To Japan For Sixth Round

With five rounds of the MX World Championships already under their tyres, the KTM Red Bull Motocross Team travels to Japan for this weekend's event at Sugoland, one of the country's largest motor sports facilities some 300km north of Tokyo. David Philippaerts hit top form in the last event at Germany's Teutschenthal, shaking off a string of bad luck to seal victory in the MX1 class. The Italian rider therefore goes to Asia with the right amount to confidence to match his skills on his KTM machine. Philippaerts win in Germany vaulted him up the standings from eleventh to seventh position and another victory this weekend could put him in sparring distance of the leaders. The New Zealander Josh Coppins has been the dominating force in the first third of the season.

Top Podium For David Philippaerts In MX1 Germany

Teutschenthal and the Grand Prix of Germany were fertile soil for KTM Red Bull Racing Team’s Italian rider David Philippaerts, who finished the day atop the MX1 podium. Fifth in the first moto, Philippaerts then showed his true colours by coming in victorious in the day’s second race to steal the premium podium for the KTM team. The Italian’s victory also proved that New Zealand’s Joshua Coppins, the dominant in the class a third of the way through the season is not invincible. Coppins won the first race but came in sixth in the second to finish overall third in the Grand Prix results.
