Bayliss Faces Spanish Attack At Valencia
03 April 2008
With the opening two flyaway rounds behind them, competitors in the 2008 HANNspree Superbike World Championship are now on European soil for the third round of the series at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, Spain. The form guide after two events shows Ducati Xerox Team’s Troy Bayliss at the top of the standings with 88 points and three wins to his name in four races, but other riders and teams are now emerging as powerful threats to the Australian, in particular Suzuki Alstare’s Fonsi Nieto and Carlos Checa of HANNspree Honda Ten Kate. “Valencia is one of those tracks where I expect everyone to go better and I think those teams that have perhaps been a little behind us with getting ready for the championship will now start to show results,” said Bayliss.

Yamaha Intent On Closing Gap At Vallelunga
26 September 2007
This Sunday sees the penultimate round take place at Vallelunga, near Rome in Italy and, with only two rounds to go and 41 points separating Haga from first place, this race is key to Yamaha's fight for the championship. The previous round at Lausitz could well prove to be a corner stone in Haga's title fight as he took a win and second place, cutting the gap between him and first place by 25 points. The impact of this result will only really be understood after this weekend's race.

Corti Takes 4th Podium Of The Season
07 August 2007
Today saw a positive end to a good weekend for Claudio Corti with him finishing third having taken his second pole of the season yesterday. Matteo Baiocco put in a strong performance to finish in fourth while Pirro took ninth. Corti had shown his capability with his pole position and proceeded to get the holeshot at the start of the race to take the lead into the first corner. With Baiocco second and Van Keymeulen fourth it was shaping up to be a Yamaha battle. Unfortunately, Van Keymeulen ran wide and onto the grass on lap two and re-joined in 28th position but was forced to retire one lap later. Canepa put a strong pass on Corti at Druids on lap four, pushing Corti to second and Baiocco to third. Corti and Baiocco continued to fight for podium positions for the remainder of the race until a successful challenge from Simeon on lap 12 saw Corti move into third with Baiocco finishing just behind in fourth.

Yamaha's High Expectations for Brands
01 August 2007
This weekend sees one of the biggest races in the World Superbike Championship as the circus goes to Brands Hatch in the UK for the tenth of thirteen rounds this year. After this weekend's round the championship will have a five week break prior to the final three rounds. Brands Hatch is a favourite stop on the championship calendar for both riders and British fans alike, attracting up to 120,000 spectators. Its natural amphitheatre-style layout makes for good viewing and the challenging mix of fast, blind corners and elevations means the circuit is highly rated by virtually all riders. The circuit was originally used as a military training ground but was taken over by motorcycles for grass track racing in 1926. It ran anti-clockwise until 1954 but has run clockwise ever since.

Yamaha Dominate Superstock Podium At Brno
24 July 2007
Matteo Baiocco and Claudio Corti took second and third respectively today in the seventh round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at Brno. The result is especially pleasing for Corti, who is still recovering from breaking his right foot earlier this month in an Italian national championship race. Yamaha Team Italia rider Michele Pirro got the holeshot off the line and went from fourth to take the lead at the first corner. He was later caught and passed on lap four by Badovini and Simeon. Corti also made a good start, going from 12th on the grid to fifth with Baiocco behind in sixth. The top six riders then broke away from the rest of the field as everyone fought for position in the early stages of the race.

Baiocco Takes His Second Win of the Season for Yamaha
19 June 2007
Team Umbria Bike rider Matteo Baiocco took his second race win of the season today at the sixth round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. The 23 year old Italian had shown good form all weekend on his YZF-R1, taking the first pole of his Superstock career yesterday. Baiocco led both parts of the two-heat race from start to finish in a textbook ride to retake the lead in the championship from Aitchison.

Baiocco Takes Monza Superstock Win For Yamaha
14 May 2007
Today's FIM Superstock 1000 Cup race was always going to be exciting following on from the drama at the last round in Assen but no one could have predicted the result as Matteo Baiocco took the win at his home round while Yamaha Team Italia team mates Corti and Pirro both crashed out. Pirro, Corti, Van Keymeulen and Baiocco had been running in the top five throughout the weekend in qualifying with Pirro taking his second pole position of the season and Corti taking second. Baiocco qualified in fourth with Didier Van Keymeulen rounding up the Yamaha domination in fifth.

Yamaha 1st & 3rd In German Superstock Round
01 January 2000
Yamaha took first and third today at Lausitz as Didier Van Keymeulen took his first win of the season with Claudio Corti coming in third. The first race of the day was blessed with dry and sunny weather following a washout two days of qualifying. The rain hadn't stopped Van Keymeulen or Corti from running in the top thee in every session throughout the weekend though, with Corti qualifying in second overall and Van Keymeulen in third despite crashing during Saturday's free practice session.
