Yamaha Riders Moving on up as Penultimate Round Approaches
02 October 2008
Both Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) and Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) have good reason to look forward to the forthcoming WSB weekend in France, as each is enjoying a late season flourish of form. Haga won both of the most recent WSB races at Vallelunga, while Corser has scored three podium finishes in the past three races. They each have good memories of Magny Cours as well, boosting their collective confidence still further.

Corser and Haga Take Front Row Starts
21 September 2008
After the wet weather endured by all on the first day, warm and sunny conditions for the final qualifying sessions allowed the Yamaha Motor Italia World Superbike riders to easily make it into Superpole, and subsequently earn front row starts for Sunday's Vallelunga races. Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) looked set to extend his record number of pole positions in WSB competition until Troy Bayliss finally just improved on his countryman's best time. Corser's 1'36.730 was only 0.124 seconds from Bayliss, offering the prospect of a close contest between these old adversaries on raceday.

Corser Eighth After Wet Donington Qualifying
07 September 2008
Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) and Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) will line up eighth and 11th respectively on the grid for Sunday's WSB races at Donington, after a wet Superpole contest full of drama and incident. Corser fell at Craner Curves with only 15 minutes and five of his permitted pitlane exits left to use up, but after sprinting back to the team garage, he got out again on his spare bike to move up to eighth place. On his spare machine he fell on the very last corner on his fastest lap of all, with 30 seconds left to go. Bashed and bruised, he survived otherwise unscathed.

Haga Close to a Superpole Win
03 August 2008
Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) was only 0.023 seconds from a Superpole win at Brands Hatch, after a very confused 'wet' Superpole contest, which was eventually decided on a completely dry racetrack. Despite the confusion caused by a late switch from a regular 'dry' Superpole to a wet session, Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) secured fifth place and therefore the prime spot on the second row for Sunday's 25-lap races.

Corser an Early Contender on Day One
19 July 2008
Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) enjoyed a competitive start to his Brno race weekend by scoring second best time behind local favourite Jakub Smrz, on the recently resurfaced 5.403km Brno circuit. Corser's early pace has already seen him under the previous circuit best, with one more qualifying session plus Superpole on Saturday to determine his final grid position. Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) was held back in his early laps by a niggling fault with his machine's electronics package and lost him track time that held back his ultimate provisional qualifying position to 12th.

Yamaha Riders Out to Score Big in Brno
16 July 2008
After a successful two-day test at Vallelunga between 8th and 9th July both Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) are fully prepared to meet the challenge of a resurfaced Brno circuit on Sunday 20th July. The 9th round of the 2008 season sees Haga arrive in fourth place in the overall championship fight, only six points ahead of his team-mate Corser. Now the most effective team-mates in the field once again, Haga has won four races so far, while Corser has been desperately unfortunate not have taken at least one win among his six podiums. Each rider has recorded successes at Brno, with Corser having won three races there and Haga one. Each took a Brno victory in 2005, Corser the first and Haga the second. The Yamaha duo traded the fastest lap in the two Czech races last year.

Corser on Podium in San Marino
01 July 2008
Pole position starter Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) looked set for his first win of the 2008 season on two occasions at Misano but he had to settle for a second in race one and a good points score of fifth in race two after running off track and ultimately avoiding a crash. He also set a new lap record, 1'37.580, on lap two of race two, which he led for 10 laps. Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) struggled hard in qualifying and the first race, finding himself only 19th after one lap. He recovered to gain six points for tenth. In race two Haga felt he had a better technical package and he made real progress from his grid position of 14th, to hold off his team-mate by just over a second.

Corser & Haga Take Winning Form to San Marino
26 June 2008
After incredible rides at the Nürburgring in Germany both Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) will be relishing another chance to compete for top honours at Round 8 of the World Superbike Championship at the Misano circuit on the Adriatic coast of Italy this weekend. Despite suffering from a broken right collarbone, plated and pinned before the Nürburgring race, Haga won both races in the German round, only just beating his team-mate Corser in race two. Arguably Corser looked favourite for the win until the track surface started to become wet, but it was still a miracle for Haga to be anywhere near a double win so soon after his big crash in America.

Yamaha's Haga & Corser Dominate in Germany
16 June 2008
Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) stormed to a superb double win at the Nürburgring in Germany today, winning back-to-back 20-lap races to re-ignite his championship challenge. He also takes away the new lap record, thanks to a blistering 1'56.892, set on lap 11 of race two. His team-mate Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) was unlucky not to score a podium in race one but was battling for the outright win with Haga in an unbelievable race two, before the threatening rain fell and the race was stopped for reasons of safety. Many fans held their breath for most of race as Hager and Corser swapped places repeatedly with inches to spare between their bikes. By midway they were riding their own race, locked into a Yamaha duel for the chequered flag.

Haga & Corser Head to the USA
28 May 2008
After two gutsy rides at his team's home circuit of Monza, Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team rider Noriyuki Haga has now moved into overall third in the championship table. At the previous round in Italy Haga only just lost the battle in race one by 0.058 seconds, before going on to win race two by 0.009 seconds. This coming weekend the 33-year-old Japanese star is ready for more podium success at the all-new American WSB venue of Miller Motorsports Park, near Salt Lake City, in the state of Utah. Haga arrived in the USA early to catch up with friends and got the chance to play some golf with legendary racer Kenny Roberts and his family. Find out more in his column on the Yamaha Racing website.

Haga Second on Provisional Grid at Assen
27 April 2008
Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) posted an impressive second fastest time in the first qualifying session at the Circuit van Drenthe while riding his number two bike, after an accident in the early part of the hour-long first qualifying session prevented him from using his number one machine. His team-mate Troy Corser spent his first day of action working through various machine settings in preparation for Sunday's 22 lap Superbike races, and thus was an unusually lowly 15th on the first day rankings. Corser had to react quickly to avoid a crash that caused the first of two interruptions to the Superbike qualifying session, and the session was finally ended by a second red flag, with only seconds remaining.

Corser Comes Home As Haga Heals
27 February 2008
Only a week after the 2008 World Superbike season kicked off at Losail with a podium for Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italy WSB Team) the second round approaches at Corser's home circuit, Phillip Island (PI), this coming weekend. After the Saturday race in the Middle East, normal Sunday service will be resumed from this weekend, with raceday at PI coming on March 2.

Corser Takes Race One Podium
25 February 2008
Troy Corser had mixed fortunes on raceday at Losail, taking a fine third in race one but slipping backwards in race two to finish seventh as his tyres lost grip at half race distance. His team-mate Noriyuki Haga recovered from a crash in race one to secure an eventual 14th, and he was also in a leading position for much of race two, before the same lack of traction experienced by Corser made him drop through the field. He ended up 13th.

After visiting the Losail International Circuit twice during pre-season tests, Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser (both Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team) appear to be all set for the 2008 World Superbike season. Both riders have shown their speed on the 2008 spec YZF-R1, being top runners in all three pre-season tests at Qatar and Phillip Island. Having worked through various new and updated components and making sure all parts have been properly checked, the team is confident and ready to race.

Shower-Proof Yamaha Take 3rd & 5th in Qualifying
05 October 2007
Following an afternoon of mixed weather, the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team has finished day one of qualifying with Haga and Corser in provisional third and fifth positions respectively. Both riders started the day in the top six during this morning's free practice but it was the weather that changed everyone's plans when the qualifying session was declared wet after a sudden rain shower at the start. Everyone went out initially but came in after only one out lap as the back of the circuit was wet. With Sunday's dry forecast making wet laps pointless, there was then no further on-track activity until 30 minutes into the session when the sun had dried the tarmac sufficiently.

Yamaha Looking Good in First and Third on Day One
29 September 2007
The first day of qualifying at Vallelunga went well for the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team today, with Corser claiming provisional pole and Haga just behind in third. The day started off wet and quite cool following overnight rain, with temperatures only hitting 19°C compared to the scorching 50°C experienced during testing here in July. The difference in weather conditions meant that the data gathered in the test proved less helpful than hoped during this morning's free practice. But both Corser and Haga didn't let this faze them and got on with the job of finding the best set-up for the conditions. By the end of the session Corser was fastest with Haga in fourth.

Yamaha Slide Onto The Front Row In Germany
09 September 2007
Today's World Superbike qualifying sessions were all about the weather as rain, standing water and excess rubber on the track turned the EuroSpeedway circuit into a slippery customer. But Corser and Haga persevered and were rewarded with fourth and eighth qualifying positions respectively. This morning's final qualifying session was declared wet and unfortunately 11 riders fell foul of the track conditions during the hour. Corser, Haga and Nakatomi were all victims during the session but without injury. Corser and Haga both re-joined the session but Nakatomi sat the remainder out. With lap times 20 seconds slower than yesterday there was no change to the rider order from the first qualifying session.

Yamaha Motor Italia Effort Is Rewarded with 3 Podiums
07 August 2007
The Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team today reaped the rewards of their weekend's hard work to take three podium positions and regain their second place in the rider championship standings. Race one was an exciting start to the day with both Corser and Haga getting good starts to take second and fourth respectively in a four-man battle with Toseland and Bayliss. Haga set about moving forward through the pack and set the fastest lap of the race on lap four before a very close pass with Bayliss to take second behind Toseland. The two Troy's were dicing for third when Bayliss crashed, giving Corser the advantage. Everything was settling down at the mid-race point when Haga ran hard into Surtees and had to take to the grass. He kept the bike upright and re-joined in 11th and dug in to climb back up to take seventh finishing place. Haga's incident allowed Corser through to second, where he completed the race. Corser's result in this race gave Yamaha their 150th WSB podium.

Corser Takes His 40th WSB Pole For Yamaha
17 June 2007
Troy Corser put in an excellent performance in today's Superpole to take the 40th pole of his WSB career, and Yamaha's third of the season, while his team mate Noriyuki Haga will start third on the grid in tomorrow's races. In this morning's qualifying session Corser and Bayliss fought an entertaining battle with the duo swapping between first and second place throughout. Corser was the first rider to break into the 1'35 lap times this weekend, matching his best time from last months test here, but Bayliss quickly followed suit to retain first place. Haga spent qualifying searching for his best race setting and took a second off his best time from yesterday to finish in seventh.

2nd & 5th Provisional Qualifying For Yamaha At Misano
16 June 2007
The eighth round of the 2007 World Superbike Championship got off to a good start today for the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB Team. Corser took second and Haga took fifth provisional qualifying slots in hot and sunny temperatures at the Italian holiday resort of Misano. The Misano circuit has undergone modifications this season including a switch in the track direction, re-surfacing and layout changes. This means a new circuit effectively for the riders and teams to adapt to. The Yamaha Motor Italia Team started today already having tested here last month, providing some valuable set-up data as well as giving the riders the chance to learn the new track layout.
