The petite blonde motorcycle racer from Northamptonshire, Maria Costello, seems destined never to compete at the Kennedy International North West 200, as she was yet again forced to pull out of the event due to injury. Costello had already faced challenge after challenge in the run up to the event with what seemed like endless mechanical set backs but the real threat came in the form of a broken shoulder blade she sustained four weeks earlier in a high speed crash while testing her Philip Youles Triumph Daytona 675 at Cadwell Park.

Maria Costello is the first female ever to stand on the podium in the history of the Isle of Man TT or Manx Grand Prix motorcycle races, so when she heard the Island was being renamed the Isle of Woman to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer on 26-28 October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she jumped at the chance to help out. Maria is donating a pink BERING ladies motorcycle jacket as a prize for Pink Tie Ball auction to be held on Saturday 27th October at the Mount Murray Country Club.

Mechanical Failure Denies Costello Of Possible Top 6 Finish

Bering PR agent and motorcycle racer Maria Costello made a brave return to the Isle of Man Manx Grand Prix races just twelve months after sustaining serious injuries there last year. The female TT lap record and Guinness World Record holder broke her femur, shoulder blade and multiple ribs in a crash during MGP practice less than a year ago but was returning undeterred with the aim of putting the accident behind her and competing in the same two races she was forced to miss in 2006.

The Manx Grand Prix Is Almost Here

Maria Costello, Bering motorcycle clothing’s PR agent from Northamptonshire, is going back to the Manx Grand Prix this year with hopes of becoming the first female winner. Maria will be one of seven female racers competing on equal terms against the men at the Manx out of a total of 283 individual entries accepted by the Manx MCC, organisers of the meeting for the last 84 years. In 2005 Maria became the first female to stand on the podium in the history of the TT or Manx Grand Prix when she finished third in the Ultra Lightweight race on an RLR Honda RVF400.

Maria Costello To Head Up Lancashire’s RideSafe BackSafe Initiative

The initiative is run by the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety and Lancashire Constabulary and is also supported by Greater Manchester Police, together with motoring organisations such as IAM, MAG and BMF.

Two Bike Outing For Southern ‘100’ Road Races

Maria Costello, the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT course, will be competing at the renowned ‘friendly races’ Southern ‘100’ Road Races next week on board both her Bering Honda CBR600RR and Bering Honda RVF400. Last year Maria rode the RLR Motorsports 400i at the Billown Circuit event but bad weather forced the organisers to abandon the first evening’s races leaving her with only one race to compete in. Maria finished in a respectable 15th place in the combined 125/400 race and was the 7th 400 home.

Confidence Boosting Time For Costello At Cock O The North Road Races

Northamptonshire motorcycle racer Maria Costello overcame difficult conditions to compete at the Cock o the North Road Races for the first time. Despite a mechanical problem forcing her to retire while in 7th place, her best position of the weekend, the diminutive blonde was content with the confidence boost the weekend had given her. After a disappointing qualifying session, Maria lined up on row five of the grid onboard her Bering and Black Horse sponsored RVF400 for its maiden race. A good start for Costello saw her make up places on the first tight and chaotic hairpin but she couldn’t make up a further 2 places to get a finish in the top ten.

Maria Costello to Make Debut at Scarborough’s Cock o The North Road Races

Maria Costello, the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT course, will be competing at England’s only road race, the Cock o the North at Scarborough’s Oliver’s Mount circuit for the first time this weekend. The petite Costello will be competing on her Bering and Black Horse motorcycle finance sponsored Honda RVF400 for the first time this year.

Maria Costello Ruled Out Of NW200

Maria Costello, the TT’s fastest female, was ruled out of the Kennedy International NW200 event by an unfair decision. After a small off, under braking, at University corner on her Bering Honda CBR600RR in Tuesday night’s practice session, Maria was given a medical examination by Race Doctor John Hinds, where she was declared fit to practice on her Black Horse Honda RFV400 in Thursday night’s practice session. Subsequently Maria was then asked by the Clerk of the Course to have yet another medical, despite the earlier examination, by a different doctor, Dr Elder, and she was then deemed unfit.

Costello Finds Right Machine

With just a week to go before the racing commences at the International Kennedy North West 200 road races, Maria Costello, the TT’s fastest female, has finalised her race plans with the acquisition of a Honda RVF400. Maria is aiming to use this bike to improve on her previous NW200 success in 2005 when she was the third 400 to cross the line, seventh overall in the 125/400cc race on a similar machine, an RLR Honda RVF owned by Tim Bradley.

Fastest Lady On Two Wheels To Appear At Lancashire’s 'RideSafe' Rendezvous

Maria Costello, Britain’s fastest lady on two wheels around the legendary Isle Of Man TT road racing circuit, is due to make an appearance at this years’ RideSafe Rendezvous at Fairhaven Lake, Lytham St Annes on Sunday 15th April. The RideSafe BackSafe Initiative is run by bikers for bikers, to raise awareness of the vulnerability of bikers on the road. The aim is to promote riding safely and encourage bikers to undertake further training. The core messages for this year are to promote defensive road riding for effective risk assessment and the benefits of and reason why you should wear protective clothing.

The exclusive trackday event will be held at the Ascari Race Resort, near Malaga, on the 27th and 28th of March. Shake down of the Bering sponsored RLR400i a success

Maria Costello, the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT course, completed a successful debut at the Southern 100 as the 7th 400 to cross the line and 15th overall in the combined 125cc/400cc race. This was the one and only race Maria got to compete in as the first race was scrapped along with all other races scheduled for the Wednesday evening when Ian Lougher fell off on the warm up lap. The wet conditions combined with new tarmac were blamed for the accident and the course was deemed unsafe.

Maria Costello, the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT course, will be competing at Southern 100 for the first time next week. Another Isle of Man road circuit, the Southern 100 Races take place on the Billown circuit in Castletown and Maria will be racing the specially prepared 400i on a real road circuit for the first time.

Bering to back UK’s Maria Costello

Maria Costello, the UK’s fastest woman motorcycle racer, has this week confirmed that Bering would become her main sponsor for the 2006-racing season. The French based motorcycle clothing company confirmed the deal at the recent Motorcycle Trade Expo Show. Costello impressed Bering with her success during 2005 when she became the first ever female to take a podium finish at the Isle of Man. “They were very proud when I made history in 2005 and they want to see me progress further. This partnership will add even more to the Bering name,” said Costello.
