Pedrosa Storms Valencia Win And Takes 2nd In Championship

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa rode to a fantastic victory in the Grand Prix of Valencia today and in doing so took a surprise second place in the riders World Championship. The 22-year-old from Barcelona converted pole position into the win and also set the fastest lap of the race to become the first rider to claim victory in all three Grand Prix classes at the Ricardo Tormo circuit. The 25 points Pedrosa earned today were enough to overturn the 24-point championship deficit he held to Valentino Rossi coming into the final race of the season and Pedrosa took second in the world standings by just one point. Rossi retired from today’s race.

Pedrosa Takes 4th Consecutive Pole

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa delighted his home fans at the Ricardo Tormo circuit today by claiming pole position for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Valencia in a thrilling qualifying battle. In yet another blistering display of one-lap pace the 22-year-old Spaniard took his fourth pole in successive races to give him the ideal starting position for tomorrow’s 30-lap race. Nicky Hayden joins Pedrosa on the front row after an equally impressive showing on his Michelin qualifying rubber. The American had lay in a lowly 17th place in the afternoon session before producing a stunning 2.4s improvement on his qualifying laps to secure his fifth front-row start from the last seven races.

Repsol Honda Team Begins 2007’s Final Assault

Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden finished in third and ninth positions at the Ricardo Tormo circuit today as the first day of practice took place ahead of Sunday’s Grand Prix of Valencia. Riding at the third event of the year on home soil, Pedrosa was quick in both sessions as he honed the settings of his RC212V for this tight and challenging track. The 22-year-old Spaniard finished the afternoon hour just 0.182s from pace-setter Casey Stoner having recorded a promising series of laps in the low 1m 33s bracket. Pedrosa was also fastest through the speed trap in the afternoon session.

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa scorched to his third pole position in consecutive races on Saturday as qualifying took place for the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang. The 22-year-old Spaniard claimed top spot by just 0.041s in the dying seconds of the hour-long session with a lap of 2m 01.877s on his super-grippy Michelin qualifying tyres. It was Pedrosa’s fourth pole position of the 2007 season and means a Repsol Honda has been at the front of the grid for the last four Grands Prix – a sequence which began with Nicky Hayden’s pole position in Portugal in September.

Repsol Honda Tackle New Surface At Sepang

The Malaysian Grand Prix began today with two hours of MotoGP free practice in typically tropical conditions at the Sepang circuit near Kuala Lumpur. The Repsol Honda Team riders Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa used the morning session to begin tailoring the set-up of their factory RC212Vs to the newly-laid surface at the World Championship’s longest circuit. A rain shower curtailed the final moments of the morning hour with Dani Pedrosa lying in a promising second place and Nicky Hayden just behind in third.

Pedrosa Fourth At Phillip Island, Hayden Fast But Out Of Luck

Dani Pedrosa rode his Repsol Honda RC212V to a gritty fourth place in the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island on Sunday. Starting from the pole position Pedrosa achieved with a brilliant lap yesterday, the 22-year-old Spaniard was in third place after the first corner and began an on-off duel with Marco Melandri that lasted for 16 laps. The pair traded places many times as they circulated the 4.448km (2.764-mile) circuit, with Pedrosa eventually making a decisive break. By lap 18 he had climbed to second place and looked on course for a strong podium finish.

Pedrosa Claims Pole At Phillip Island - Hayden Fourth

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa will start Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix from pole position after riding a breathtaking lap in the final moments of qualifying at Phillip Island today. This is the 22-year-old Spaniard’s second pole in a row and his third of the 2007 season. His team-mate Nicky Hayden looked destined for his fifth front-row start on the trot, but just lost out in the final sector of the lap and will start tomorrow’s race from fourth on the grid, directly behind Pedrosa.

With bright sunshine at one moment giving way to rain showers the next, the Repsol Honda squad made the most of limited consistent track time to begin the process of setting up the RC212Vs of Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa ahead of Sunday’s 27-lap race.

The Repsol Honda Team endured a disappointing Grand Prix of Japan on Sunday as wet, unpredictable track conditions prevented Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden from capitalising on their excellent qualifying display yesterday. The 24-lap race began with a wet track and Pedrosa made a lightning start from pole position, stretching a useful gap in the first few corners at the 4.801km (2.981-mile) Motegi circuit. As the track began to dry and with surface conditions changing constantly Pedrosa initially slipped to fourth before once again clawing back time on the front three.

Both Repsol Honda's will start Sunday’s Grand Prix of Japan from the front row after a highly impressive show of pace by the factory Honda squad in today’s qualifying session at the Twin Ring Motegi. Dani Pedrosa produced another dominant display and has been fastest in every session this weekend before taking his second pole position of the season by 0.391s this afternoon. Just as important as securing the front slot on the grid has been Pedrosa’s pace on race tyres this weekend. The 21-year-old Spaniard was able to complete a high number of laps on his Michelin race tyre options today including a lap of 1m 47.155s this morning which is inside the existing race lap record of 1m 47.288s.

Pedrosa Fastest On Day One At Motegi

Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa dominated the first day of practice for the Grand Prix of Japan today, topping the timesheets in both one-hour sessions aboard his Honda RC212V. On a day when the 21- year-old Spaniard renewed his contract with HRC to ride for the factory Repsol Honda squad for two more years, Pedrosa was peerless at a track he rates as one of his favourites. In the afternoon session he was the only rider to lap below 1m 48s, his time of 1m 47.865s being 0.389s quicker than nearest rival Randy de Puniet in second.

Hayden Takes Sizzling Pole Position In Estoril

Nicky Hayden took a scintillating pole position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Portugal as the Repsol Honda rider blitzed the MotoGP field in the final seconds of this afternoon’s qualifying session at Estoril. Once again displaying his brilliance on sticky Michelin qualifying tyres, the World Champion edged out Casey Stoner by just 0.040s to secure his first pole position since last year’s Australian Grand Prix. The 26-year-old American was naturally delighted with his debut pole of the 2007 season – the fifth of his MotoGP career – while also declaring that he and his crew still have some work to do to finalise the machine set-up and tyre choice for 28-lap race.

Repsol Honda Riders In 4th And 8th On First Day

The top 17 MotoGP riders were separated by less than a second on a very close first day of practice for the Grand Prix of Portugal at Estoril today. Repsol Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden looked competitive, finishing in fourth and eighth places with Pedrosa recording a lap just 0.251s from the fastest time and Hayden ending up a mere 0.317s behind his team-mate. The 4.182km (2.597-mile) Estoril circuit provides the challenge for round 14 of the MotoGP World Championship, with the Repsol Honda Team spending today’s two one-hour sessions adjusting the 800cc RC212Vs to the demands of the tight and bumpy track. Pedrosa declared himself reasonably happy with the day’s progress, and will be looking to further improve the stability his factory Honda on Saturday. Hayden too was positive after taking a useful step forward from the morning to the afternoon session and will be determined to secure his third successive front row start in tomorrow afternoon’s one-hour qualifying session.

First Lap Clash Rules Out Repsol Honda At Misano

The San Marino Grand Prix effectively ended at the second corner for the Repsol Honda Team on Sunday as a crash took down Dani Pedrosa and forced Nicky Hayden off the track and through the gravel. With damage to his RC212V Pedrosa had no option but to retire on the spot and though Hayden rejoined the race in 16th place, from that moment on the World Champion was riding for minor positions.

Repsol Honda riders Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa will start from third and sixth places in Sunday’s San Marino Grand Prix after an intense day of practice and qualifying at the Misano circuit today. Hayden once again displayed his sizzling pace on qualifying rubber to secure his second front row start in successive races. In the dying seconds of the afternoon’s one-hour session the World Champion went to the top of the timesheets on his second run on Michelin qualifying tyres, before being nudged back to third by pole position man Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi who took second. Hayden will be working hard with his crew this evening to further improve his race set-up, with the 26-year-old American aiming for his fourth podium finish from five races to bolster his rapidly-improving season.

Misano Flooded As Rain Forces Cancellation Of Practice

The Misano circuit made a dramatic return to Grand Prix racing on Friday as the afternoon practice sessions for the San Marino Grand Prix were canceled with parts of the track submerged to shoulder height by flood water. The morning’s MotoGP practice session went ahead in wet conditions, but a torrential downpour at lunchtime saw a river of water running down pit lane and flooding many garages, including the Repsol Honda pit. There was no significant damage to equipment, but at 2pm the organisers were forced to cancel the day’s remaining practice sessions and begin the process of draining the track.

With 141,632 fans lining the spectacular Brno circuit the factory Honda pairing extracted the best from the latest improvements to their RC212V machines during the 22-lap race, with Hayden recording his third podium finish in four races and Pedrosa closing the gap to Valentino Rossi in the World Championship.

The Repsol Honda Team put on a strong qualifying performance at Brno on Saturday with Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa securing second and third places on the grid for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. Hayden looked quick right from the start of the afternoon session, the World Champion heading the times on race tyres at the beginning of hour and able to lap repeatedly in the 1m 58s bracket. With the sticky qualifying Michelins in place Hayden confirmed his pace by setting the second fastest time, just 0.280s behind today’s pole setter, Casey Stoner.

Czech GP Weekend Begins For The Repsol Honda

After a 26-day summer break from MotoGP action the first two one-hour sessions of free practice for the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic took place on Friday at the formidable Brno circuit. Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden finished the day in seventh and eighth places as they began the meticulous process of dialling in their 800cc RC212V machines to the demands of the undulating 5.403km (3.357-mile) track. Both factory Honda riders made significant progress from morning to afternoon as they got their first taste of the 800cc racebike at this demanding venue.

Pedrosa Fights To Fifth As Hayden Is Forced To Retire

The Repsol Honda Team had a tough U.S. Grand Prix with Dani Pedrosa battling to fifth place while Nicky Hayden was forced to pull out of the race with 10 laps of the 32-lap race remaining. From second on the grid, Pedrosa made an excellent start and led for the first three corners before being passed by Casey Stoner. Riding at the absolute limit the Spanish ace kept pace with Stoner in the opening laps, but as the performance from his tyres began to fade he was forced to drop back. Stoner went on to win the race by 10 seconds while Pedrosa brought home his RC212V in fifth to earn 11 World Championship points.
