Capirossi & Vermeulen to Continue with Suzuki in 2009
2 Days ago
Suzuki Motor Corporation are pleased to announce that Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen have both agreed terms to continue riding for the Japanese company’s MotoGP squad for a further season. Capirossi joined Suzuki at the end of 2007 and has shown throughout the 2008 season that his energy and enthusiasm for racing are still as high as ever. Indeed, his desire to compete for Suzuki at the highest level of motorcycle racing has seen him race this season with serious injuries that would have side-lined many other riders. Capirossi’s wealth of knowledge and experience has been invaluable to the development of the Suzuki GSV-R during this year, both in a racing and developmental role, and he is determined to turn Suzuki’s 800cc prototype machine into a race-winning bike during the remainder of 2008 and through 2009.

His third place in Misano means that the Spaniard has taken 36 points from a possible 50 in the last two events.

Hard Fought Fifth for Vermeulen in San Marino
6 Days ago
Rizla Suzuki’s Chris Vermeulen survived an early race scare at the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano today, to fight his way back through the field to score a well-earned fifth place. Starting from seventh on the grid, Vermeulen made a good start and was up with the leading pack, but a huge high-side spat the Australian out of the seat of his Suzuki GSV-R on the second corner. Fortunately Vermeulen landed back on his bike – damaging the fairing in the process – but he had lost several places and was back in 13th position at the end of lap one. He set about chasing down the riders in front of him and, although the Misano circuit is a difficult place to pass on, Vermeulen stormed through the field to bring his machine home for 11 hard-earned points that promoted him to sixth in the World Championship table.

Impressive Progress for Rizla Suzuki at Misano
29 August 2008
Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racers Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen finished third and sixth respectively at the end of a positive first day’s practice for this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix at Misano in Italy. Both riders used the two hour-long sessions to dial in the new chassis on the Suzuki GSV-R for the 4,226m Italian track. Capirossi improved on his lap-times consistently throughout the day as he worked with his crew to get the best settings. His time of 1’35.377 from his 56 laps came on his final lap of the second session, and Capirossi is convinced there is still more to find from machine and rider tomorrow. Vermeulen recorded 51 laps today and was only marginally behind his team-mate with a best time of 1’35.743. He also spent time heading towards the optimum setting for the new chassis to complement the Bridgestone tyres and he too is confident of yet more improvements as the weekend progresses.

Fantastic First Rizla Suzuki Podium for Capirossi
17 August 2008
Loris Capirossi raced his Rizla Suzuki GSV-R to his maiden podium for the team - and 99th overall of his career - at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno today. Starting from ninth on the grid Capirossi lost a couple of places early on, but he fought back to regain them by the end of the first lap. He then set about hunting down the riders in front of him and was involved in numerous battles before making his way up to a podium position on lap seven. He then became involved in a fight with team-mate Chris Vermeulen until the experienced Italian finally got the better of his colleague on lap nine, after the two had overtaken each other a number of times. Capirossi held on to second place briefly before being passed by Toni Elias, but from then on a podium position never looked in doubt and Capirossi crossed the line in third place to the delight of his team.

17 August 2008
James Toseland battled through 22 laps of pure hell to finish a brave 13th in the Cardion ab Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in Brno this afternoon. Tyre problems never gave the 27 year old Yorkshireman a chance on the Tech 3 Yamaha at the 3.357 mile circuit where Toseland finished first and second in the World Superbike Championship last year. Toseland Starts Despite Problems In The Rain
17 August 2008
When the likes of MotoGP winner Jorge Lorenzo and World Superbike Champion James Toseland fail to qualify for the Cardion AB Grand Prix of the Czech Republic it shows just how appalling the weather must have been in the one hour qualifying session for the 12th round of the MotoGP World Championship. The heavy rain just got heavier and heavier as the session progressed round the 3.357 mile Brno circuit. Toseland fell from the Tech 3 Yamaha at the bottom of the hill in the spray and mist. He was uninjured and despite not producing a qualifying time will be allowed to start the 22 lap race. The 27 year old Yorkshireman finished first and second in the World Superbike Championship races at Brno last year.

Second Row Start for Vermeulen at a Wet Brno
17 August 2008
Chris Vermeulen will start tomorrow’s Czech Republic Grand Prix from the front of the second row after setting the fourth quickest time during a wet qualifying session this afternoon. Vermeulen only managed to complete 10 laps of the newly re-surfaced Brno circuit this afternoon, as conditions deteriorated during the hour and made it very difficult to improve on lap-times. Vermeulen’s time of 2’13.002 was set on his fifth lap during his first run when the rain was quite light. He then spent some time in the pit-box waiting for conditions to improve, and although he went out towards the end of the session he was unable to better his time and narrowly missed out on a front-row start by only 0.043 seconds.

Toseland Puts Training to Good Use
16 August 2008
James Toseland put his recent training with Marines to good use in a difficult first day of practice for the Cardion AB Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in Brno this afternoon. The 27 year old Yorkshireman finally finished 13th fastest riding the Tec 3 Yamaha at the circuit where he scored first and second place in the World Superbike Championship last year. He slid off at low speed late in the afternoon session but neither Toseland or the Yamaha were damaged. The only problem he had was re-starting the machine but that recent Marines training paid off and he was able to re-start the Yamaha with a good old fashioned shove.

Toseland Looks To Brno Repeat
12 August 2008
James Toseland heads the refreshed British riders returning from the summer break to face the last seven grands prix of the season, starting with the Cardion ab Grand Prix of the Czech Republic at Brno on Sunday. The twenty seven year old Yorkshireman returns after a tremendous first part of his MotoGP debut season and has every reason to be confident in the 22 lap on Sunday. Last year he really tuned his season round with first and second places in the two World Superbike Championship races at the superb 3.357 mile Brno circuit. He currently lies ninth in the World Championship riding the Tech 3 Yamaha but good results in the final seven races could lift him as high as the top six.
