Hammers Plan Play Off Run In

The Lakeside Hammers, hit by an unprecedented injury crisis when within yards of the Play Off qualification line have unveiled their plan to secure a top two finish and then a place in the Play Off final. Speaking on Friday Co-Promoter and Team Manager Jon Cook revealed that the Club had agreed a contract with a new addition (unnamed at present) to the Hammers side and talks were continuing with another target early next week with a view to both riders being in place for the away match at Peterborough on September 18th.

The Hammers See off the Wolves Despite Injury Worries

Having endured a torrid week of devastating injury news, the Lakeside Hammers rallied for an outstanding 'backs to the wall' performance to beat Wolverhampton Wolves at the Arena-Essex Raceway last Friday night. With three of their riders now looking likely to have their season prematurely ended, Team Manager Jon Cook was able to elicit some heroic performances from his remaining riders to see off a strong Wolves challenge.

Hurry Tribute to Boocock

With the funeral of Darren Boocock and his wife Sharon taking place on Friday this week, Paul Hurry and the organisers of his Testimonial have taken the decision to amend the original start time.Hurry said,"Although I did not know Darren that well, he was a popular member of the Speedway family and there are obviously riders and officials involved in my meeting who wish to attend the funeral in Sheffield on Friday and pay their respects."

Hammers Delight Over Win At Wolverhampton

The Lakeside Hammers riders, management and supporters were all delighted with Monday evening’s superb victory in their Sky Sports Elite League match up at Wolverhampton. Despite falling behind in the early stages the whole team raised their games and eventually came out easy winners. The home side led by six points after just four heats and although the Hammers gained 4-2 heat wins in the sixth and seventh races the Hammers did not take the lead until heat 10, when Joonas Kylmakorpi and Adam Shields claimed a maximum 5-1 heat advantage over the Wolves No1 Fredrik Lindgren and Ales Dryml. That put the Hammers two points up but that soon doubled to four points when Andreas Jonsson defeated the in-form David Howe with the young Hammers reserve Ricky Kling picking up the point for third place.
