BMW Motorrad R 1200 S Sports Boxer Finishes 16th Overall

The BMW Motorrad Motorsport team are celebrating after the R 1200 S took the Open class win and a very creditable 16th place overall at the weekend’s 30th 24 Hours Le Mans race, marking BMW’s return to competitive road racing after a 50-year absence. Despite being down on power compared to their rivals, the number 17 team of Marcus Barth, Thomas Hinterreiter and Rico Penzkofer completed 776 laps of the 2.65 mile Bugatti circuit, coming home in 16th place overall in front of 90,000 motorcycle race fans.

Suzuki Spank It At Le Mans!

Suzuki's new GSX-R1000K7 dominated the opening round of the World Endurance Championship at Le Mans in France with both Suzuki Endurance Racing Team entries finishing first and second at the end of the gruelling 24-hour race. SERT's number two team of William Costes, Guillaume Dietrich and Max Neukirchner crossed the finish line at 15.00hrs local time with total of 818 laps completed, just 1:19.938 minutes ahead of reigning World Champions SERT number one, comprising Vincent Philippe, Matthieu Lagrive and Julien Da Costa.

Double Suzuki Victory Ahead of Kawasaki

Two years since it last won the Le Mans 24 Hours race, the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team today stole a masterful victory at the Bugatti circuit, placing both of its machines on the top two podium positions. The Suzuki no. 2 of SERT ridden by William Costes, Guillaume Dietrich and Max Neukirchner finished ahead of the Suzuki no. 1, the World Championship-winning team from 2006 of Vincent Philippe, Matthieu Lagrive and Julien Da Costa, who completed the race on the same lap.

Battle underway between Yamaha GMT 94 and Suzuki SERT 1

After three hours of racing at the Bugatti circuit today, Yamaha GMT 94 leads the way, closely followed by the GSX-R1 of the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team. The battle between these two favourites is being extremely tightly fought-out. Not far behind is the Suzuki 2 of SERT, followed by the ZX-10R of Team Kawasaki France and the Yamaha Austria Racing Team.

BMW's Return To World Championship Racing After 50 Years

BMW Motorrad Motorsport achieved their first goal of the season by qualifying for the Le Mans 24 hour race. Their 37th place on the grid is better then many of the regular competitors, despite a considerable weight and power disadvantage, and now the whole team are excited about the prospects ahead in what is arguably one of the most gruelling races in the calendar.

Suzuki Tops Qualifying

Suzuki's GSX-R1000 K7 dominated qualifying for the opening round of the FIM World Endurance Championship at Le Mans in France today with the Suzuki Endurance Race Team topping the time sheets. SERT No. 2 Team riders William Coste, Guillaume Deitrich and Max Neukirchner put in a time of 1:39.354 on the 4.4km Bugatti circuit beating Yamaha GMT94 (1:39.559) and Suzuki's reigning World Champions Vincent Philippe, Matthieu Lagrive and new team rider Julien Da Costa - who replaces retired Keiichi Kitagawa for 2007 - in a close third with a time of 1:39.663.

SERT Dominate Final Qualifying Ahead Of Yamaha GMT 94

Two Suzuki Endurance Racing Team machines will begin this weekend’s Le Mans 24hrs as favourites. On the GSX-R 2, William Costes, Guillaume Dietrich and Max Neukirchner improved upon their fastest lap-times during today’s second round of qualifying. The Suzuki Team sits at the top of the qualifying board with an average riders’ time of 1’39.229. The GSXR-R 1 ridden by Vincent Philippe, Julien Da Costa and Matthieu Lagrive also improved during the second round of qualifying, taking second place just in front of the Yamaha GMT 94.

SERT And Yamaha GMT 94 Head-To-Head At First Qualifying

The GSX-R no. 2 of the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team has taken first place in the first qualifying round of Le Mans 24hr, which took place on this afternoon. SERT rider, William Costes was the only rider to come in under the 1’39 bar, achieving the fastest time on the Bugatti circuit, 1’38.733. The Suzuki no 2 takes pole position in the provisional qualifying. with good times achieved by his team-mates, Max Neukirchner (1’39.361) and Guillaume Dietrich (1’39.969). This season, positions on the starting grid will be determined by the average of the best times of the top three riders, at the end of the second round of qualifying, which takes place at Le Mans on Friday afternoon.

First Test, Thursday At The Bugatti Circuit

Teams are making their final preparations for this weekend’s Le Mans 24hr, the first of six races that make up the QMMF Endurance FIM World Championship 2007. The first official test starts on Thursday at the Bugatti circuit, Le Mans. The results and the falls from last weekend’s tests gave indications on some of the riders’ form. The first upset came from Suzuki when Matthieu Lagrive, GSX-0R no 1 rider and 2006 World Champion, had a fall during the Supersport World Championship warm-up in Valencia, Spain, resulting in a broken bone in his arm. Matthieu is still expecting to start at the 24hrs alongside Vincent Philippe and Julien da Costa.

Factory Team To Race R 1200 S In Endurance World Championship

BMW Motorrad has made the historic announcement that, for the first time in 50 years, the iconic motorcycle manufacturer is to enter a factory team in a world championship motorcycle racing event. Considered the ultimate test of motorcycle endurance, the BMW Motorrad factory team has entered the Le Mans “24 heures moto”, which takes place over the weekend of 21-22 April 2007.

Only One Month To Go Until Le Mans 24 Hour

The 2007 QMMF FIM World Endurance Championship will get underway on the 21st April with the Le Mans 24 Hour race. The 30th running of this historic race will be the first of six races which make up the 2007 Championship, which visits France, Spain, Japan, Germany, France again, and concludes in Qatar on 10th November.
