Dungey Wins at Las Vegas Finale

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing's Ryan Dungey capped off the 2008 AMA Supercross Lites season by not only winning the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout for the second year in a row, but by also being honoured with the Rising Star Award as well. In the Las Vegas season finale event, Dungey finished second in his heat race and then came from behind to take the win in the 15-lap SX Lites main. Later in the weekend, he was honoured with the new Rising Star award at the Live Nation awards banquet.

Reed 2008 Champion With Las Vegas Victory

Chad Reed is the new 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross /FIM World Championship number one after registering his ninth victory of the season in front of more than 39,000 spectators at the Sam Boyd stadium in Las Vegas last weekend. The Australian, still recovering from a broken shoulder blade, went into the final round of seventeen with a ten point lead over main rival Kevin Windham but blitzed the field once more aboard his YZ450F to clinch his second crown in the class (the other obtained in 2004).

2007 AMA Racing Awards Banquet Returns To Las Vegas

The 33rd Annual AMA Pro Racing Championship Awards Banquet will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Sunday evening, Nov. 18. The celebration held each year wraps up AMA Racing’s professional championship season honoring the top riders in American motorcycle racing. Stars from AMA Motocross, Superbike, Flat Track, Supercross, Supermoto and Hillclimb will be honored. New for 2007, the evening will also see the recognition of the top riders from AMA Pro ATV Racing. As has become tradition, the evening will conclude with the presentation of the AMA Pro Racing SPEED Athlete of the Year Award. Last year Motocross/Supercross star Ricky Carmichael became the first rider in AMA history to win the award for the fifth time.

A Big Showdown In Store At Las Vegas AMA SX Finale

The season finale of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas this Saturday, May 5, will feature one race of celebration and another a highly anticipated showdown. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s James Stewart clinched the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series title last weekend in Seattle and will attempt to go for his 13th win of the season. His Las Vegas race will be a coronation run for Stewart, who has dominated the season with 12 wins in the 15 rounds leading up to Saturday’s finale. Stewart’s 2007 season joins Jeremy McGrath’s 1996 and Ricky Carmichael’s 2001 season as one of the best performances in the history of the series.

Carmichael Debuts New RM-Z450 In Vegas

Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael made his comeback from a shoulder injury to race his new Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 to second overall at the US Open of Supercross at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at the weekend. The RM-Z450 that the team raced incorporated a combination of chassis components from both the 2006 and 2007 bikes.

Carmichael Wins Ama Supercross Title

Ricky Carmichael has clinched the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross crown for the fifth time after finishing second to James Stewart at Saturday night’s Las Vegas Supercross final round at Sam Boyd Stadium. In a race where both titles could have gone to either Carmichael, Stewart or Yamaha’s Chad Reed, the RM-Z450-mounted rider finished runner-up in the THQ World series behind Stewart after the 20-lap Main Event in front of 35,000 fans.

Stage Set For Ama Supercross Title Showdown

At the beginning of this year’s Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series just about everybody figured that the championship would be decided by the “Big Three” of Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed and James Stewart. It was a dream that the title would come down to the season finale, but with the relentlessly grueling schedule of the series it’s rare that a championship battle plays out to a final race showdown. This year it has done just that and on Saturday night, May 6, Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium will play host to one of the most exciting final races in the 30-plus year history of AMA Supercross, the world’s premier supercross series.
