AEGIS – Knox's Most Technically Advanced Back-Protector
11 April 2008
Knox have invested all they know about protection in the AEGIS to create the most technically advanced back protector available. Named after the mythological protective shield of Zeus, king of the Greek Gods, the new AEGIS back protector is the result of an intensive 12-month R & D programme. Statistics show that over 25% of injuries to motorcyclists rated ‘maximum’ or ‘critical’ (the ones that cause crippling injuries or death) affect the spine yet there are still a significant proportion of riders unwilling to use a back protector. So the design team at Knox concentrated on tackling comfort, safety and style to resolve the issues raised by riders as significant factors when choosing a back protector. By developing solutions to these issues Knox have produced the most technically advanced and user-friendly back protector available today.

Is Your Protection Up To Standard?
17 May 2007
Did you know that the vast majority of armour produced for the off-road motorcycle market fails to meet current European safety standards? This is a serious situation for two reasons. Firstly, it is illegal to sell protective equipment that does not carry a CE mark (showing that it has been tested and approved for use). Secondly, it means that customers have no way of knowing whether the armour will actually work, other than putting their faith in the brand they are purchasing.

SPS Gloves Save His Wrist But Not His Supersport Bike
15 May 2007
The inventor of the revolutionary Scaphoid Protection System [SPS] inadvertently put his creation to the ultimate test, demolishing his limited edition Yamaha R46 motorcycle in the process. James Hawkes, a mechanical engineer, designed the SPS following two earlier motorcycle crashes, in both of which he broke his scaphoid (a small bone in the hand that connects the thumb to the wrist). He had the idea patented and approached British impact protection specialists Knox to put it into production. The first gloves incorporating SPS were displayed at the German Intermot show in autumn 2006. By spring 2007 James received his own pair of Teknic Speedstar gloves (their first to incorporate SPS) and purchased a brand new Yamaha R46 ‘Rossi replica’ to celebrate.

Knox Dry Inside Base Layer Clothing with 3XDRY® technology
25 April 2007
Following the success of its Cold Killers range of wind proof clothing, Knox has developed the Dry Inside base layer clothing system for summer riding and track use. It is the first cotton base layer for motorcyclists to keep the wearer cool and dry thanks to revolutionary 3XDRY® technology. This is particularly important for motorcyclists as most bike clothing has a synthetic lining, (usually made from polyester), which prevents the skin from breathing freely, making the wearer hot, sticky and uncomfortable.

New V2 CE Protectors
30 March 2007
British impact protection specialists Knox have launched a new range of protectors with which riders can upgrade their existing clothing. Knox is the protection partner of choice for many discerning clothing brands, including Triumph, Revit, Teknic, RST, and Weise. However, research shows that there is still a significant proportion of motorcycle clothing fitted with non-CE approved protectors (some of which even carries bogus CE-marking). This is a serious breach of the European Personal Protective Equipment Directive, which became law in 1995, and states that all protectors for motorcyclists must be independently tested to prove that they are capable of absorbing a significant amount of energy from an impact.
