Strijbos Wins As Ramon Closes In
19 August 2007
Team Suzuki's Kevin Strijbos took his third win of the season and Steve Ramon recovered from a pair of first lap crashes to finish fifth and close to within 12 points of the FIM MX1 World Championship lead at a cold, deep and rutted Moneyglass Demesne circuit for the Grand Prix of Northern Ireland. Surprisingly for a mid-August meeting the weather at the 13th round of the MX1 World Championship was cold, rainy and windy over the weekend. The new venue has been constructed with a view towards the 2008 Motocross of Nations and although Saturday's schedule was slashed to a single session due to excessive rain and the debilitating effects on the track, Sunday was dry but blustery and with low temperatures.

Strijbos 2nd In Wet Ireland
19 August 2007
Kevin Strijbos made the most of a vastly-reduced practice and qualification programme during a rain-swept first day of the Grand Prix of Northern Ireland to post the second quickest lap-time just ahead of team-mate Steve Ramon. The 13th round of 15 in the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship at Moneyglass Demesne started on a soggy note with constant rainfall on Friday and through Saturday that washed out the new track and caused the timetable to be shortened to a 15 minute practice followed by a 30 minute chrono for both classes.
