Bridgestone MotoGP Briefing - Donington
17 June 2008
MotoGP’s busy summer schedule continues apace this weekend as Donington Park hosts the British GP, round eight of this season’s championship. The forthcoming run of events sees MotoGP visit some of the most frequented race tracks in premier class history with Donington, Assen and Sachsenring having held over 100 championship races between them over the years. Donington has held a round of the championship since 1987, and is the British GP venue for the 22nd consecutive time this year. Last year’s wet-drying race saw the first ever Bridgestone-shod victory at Donington with Casey Stoner. Suzuki’s Chris Vermeulen finished third to take one of his four podiums of 2007. Suzuki and Bridgestone also scored a podium in 2005, in wet conditions, with Kenny Roberts Jr. Donington remains, however, one of the most difficult tracks on the calendar for Bridgestone. No Bridgestone-shod rider has ever scored a dry-weather MotoGP podium finish, or taken pole position, at the track.

Clutch Failure Costs Chance Of More Points For Roberts
17 September 2007
Kurtis Roberts had a short afternoon at today's Portuguese GP, pulling in after two of 28 laps of the 4.182-km Estoril circuit outside Lisbon with a slipping clutch that robbed him of any chance of finishing the race. With only 13 finishers, the younger son of a legend would have been certain of adding to his points score, and in the first lap he had already improved on his starting position, moving through to 18th place. But by then Roberts was already having trouble with clutch slip, and when there was no improvement, he was obliged to pull in.

Qualifying Tyre Slip Costs Kurtis Dear
15 September 2007
Kurtis Roberts will have a hard job tomorrow in his first race at the slow and challenging Estoril circuit. A slip-up on his qualifying tyre meant he was unable to improve his time when it mattered, and the 28-year-old second son of a legend will start the race from 19th position, at the back of the grid. It represents a big change in fortune for the independent team. At last year's Portuguese GP, Kurtis's elder brother Kenny Roberts finished a close third after battling to the finish for the lead, setting the lap record as he did so.

No Glory In Home Grand Prix
25 July 2007
Kurtis Roberts failed to finish him home grand prix when teething problems hit the brand new Team Roberts KR212V which was making its debut at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In only six short weeks, Team Roberts designed, manufactured, and built a second generation KR212V. There were 210 new parts, 54 of which were manufactured at the team's headquarters in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Many of the parts, including the chassis, were brought as luggage to the circuit in the hills of Monterey, the site of many of team owner Kenny Roberts' greatest triumphs, both as a rider and team owner.

Kurtis Roberts, riding in only sixth MotoGP event since returning mid-season, qualified 18th for his home grand prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on a motorcycle that didn't exist only days earlier. The motorcycle chassis and other critical pieces were brought to Monterey from the team's headquarters in Banbury, Oxforshire as checked luggage on Wednesday. The construction of the motorcycle went smoothly and Kurtis was able to get straight to work when practice began at the scenic course in the hills of Monterey on Friday morning.

Kurtis Roberts In The Points Again At Assen
30 June 2007
Kurtis Roberts finished in the points for a second successive GP, managing to recoup 15th place after a difficult weekend at the revised Assen circuit for the Dutch TT. Roberts, riding as substitute for his elder brother Kenny Junior, is in only his fourth race, combining the role of test rider developing the all-new 2007 prototype MotoGP racer as well as trying to achieve results for his father's team. It is a tall order. Strictly limited testing time at each race is just one difficulty Kurtis faces.

Roberts Gains Five Places In Wet Qualifying
29 June 2007
Kurtis Roberts, riding in only fourth MotoGP event since returning mid-season, moved from 19th on dry practice times to 14th in a wet qualifying session for Saturday's Dutch TT - a position he felt might have been better if he'd had a little more time on the tricky new Assen circuit he was seeing for the first time. Roberts, who is substituting for his older brother Kenny, set the time right at the end of the session, at his very last chance, after losing time in the closing stages when he pitted for a tyre change. It meant he was obliged to try for a time with no second chances, crossing the start-finish line some 30 seconds before the chequered flag signaled the end.

Dani Shooting For Repeat of 2006 British Victory
22 June 2007
Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V), Honda's main man in MotoGP, has ridden to four podiums so far this season, but a victory has so far eluded the man who lies third overall in the World Championship points standings. Donington Park is where all that could change. The 21-year-old Spanish phenomenon won here last year from Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) and after his gritty ride to third two weeks ago in Catlunya - only just out of touch of Casey Stoner (Ducati) and Rossi at the flag, he is showing all the signs of getting his title challenge back underway.

Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) was second and Marco Melandri (Fortuna Honda RC211V) third. In bright sunshine, despite a vicious rain shower on the morning of the race at 7:00am, riders lined up for 30-laps of this sweeping 4.023km track. And it was Melandri from third on the grid who led into Redgate on lap one with Pedrosa on his tail and Casey Stoner (LCR Honda RC211V) up with them in third.

Hayden Grabs Fighting Third In Italian Thriller
05 June 2006
MotoGP provided one of the best races so far seen this season in front of a passionate 89,000-strong crowd at Mugello. Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) won from Loris Capirossi (Ducati) with Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda RC211V) a tenacious third. After intermittent rain over the first two days of this Grand Prix race day was bright for the most part and despite drops of rain falling during the 250cc race, the main event remained dry to provide enthralling racing over 23-laps of this magnificent 5.245km course.

Gritty Hayden Grinds Out Sixth Successive Podium
10 April 2006
Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda RC211V) came a narrow second to Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) in a tense MotoGP race here in windy Qatar. Loris Capirossi (Ducati) was third. This is Hayden’s sixth consecutive rostrum finish as he bids for his first win of the 2006 season. With a 33km/h wind, erratic in direction, blowing throughout the day, turns two and nine seemed to be the worst affected. There was also a 44 degree track temperature to contend with, although the elevated ambient temperature that is so often a debilitating factor here was ‘only’ 25-degrees now that this is an April race instead of an October fixture.

Honda’s policy of backing youth paid off handsomely in this the first of 17 track showdowns. There were five Honda riders among the top six finishers: Pedrosa second, then Hayden, Toni Elias (Fortuna Honda RC211V) in fourth, Marco Melandri (Fortuna Honda RC211V) fifth and Casey Stoner (LCR Honda RC211V) sixth. And both Pedrosa and Stoner are MotoGP rookies.

Pedrosa And Hayden End Final Test
13 March 2006
MotoGP pre-season testing came to a close when the teams and riders ended their three-day IRTA test at Jerez today. The next time they fire up their 990cc four-stroke grand prix machines it will mark the start of the 17-round world championship which opens on the same 4.423 km Jerez circuit on March 26. Honda fields its youngest ever senior class line up for a championship campaign this year. The six RCV riders have a good balance between youth and experience averaging 23 years of age, with Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner the youngest at 20, Makoto Tamada the elder statesman at 29. Nicky Hayden 24, Marco Melandri 23, and Toni Elias, a 24 year old complete the line up.
