Local hero Tomoyoshi Koyama from Team ISPA KTM Aran was best KTM rider in the 125 cc category and celebrated eleventh place with a huge burn-out in front of his home crowd. It was one of the diminutive Japanese rider's best results for the 2008 season. Meanwhile German Red Bull KTM rookie Jonas Folger rode much faster than in practice and was close to the point rankings throughout the race, despite suffering from a stomach upset
Repsol KTM 125 rider Marc Marquez was KTM's best performer at the Indianapolis Grand Prix, scoring a strong sixth place, less than half a second behind the podium rankings. A good set-up and some last-minute fine-tuning to his bike allowed the Spanish teenager a fast and consistent ride up with the front riders. He was in the running for a podium place when the race was cancelled after 16 laps when rain and wind lashed the track.
The 125 cc Czech Grand Prix on the Brno racing circuit proved to be a disappointing day for the KTM line-up with Spanish Repsol KTM rider Esteve Rabat the only one finishing in the championship points. Rabat finished in thirteenth place while Onde 2000 KTM rider Pablo Nieto was second fastest in sixteenth place. His team-mate Raffaele de Rosa, who was the fastest on Saturday in the rain, went out in the first round. De Rosa's bike had an engine seizure and he had a high speed crash in sixth gear. The Neapolitan was lucky to come away unscathed and uninjured.
