Dainese To Sponsor 2008 Tourist Trophy as Official Safety Partner

The company from Vicenza has been appointed Official Safety Partner of the legendary race that has been run since 1907 on the Isle of Man in England. In order to close the important sponsorship deal, the two most important superbike races of the Tourist Trophy (TT) to be held on May 31st and June 7th will be renamed The Isle of Man Dainese Superbike Race and The Isle of Man Dainese Senior TT Race. The TT will be the first “Italian Legendary Protection” event: a project that Dainese has been developing together with AGV with the objective of communicating and celebrating the long tradition that both Italian companies share in motorcycle racing history in terms of protection and safety.

Honda Bladeday2 - 23rd May - Donington Park

CJ Riders Fund Ready for Thruxton

After the snow swept Brands Hatch, the CJ Riders Fund still had a very successful weekend at what was meant to be the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Six inches of snow put a stop to the racing on Sunday, (6th April) and the meeting has now been rescheduled for May. The CJ Fund used the weekend to their advantage and had a practice run with their new CJ Unit, which worked perfectly and was situated in an ideal spot at Brands. The new CJ Promo Girls worked exceptionally hard throughout the weekend despite the freezing conditions, they still plugged away in their lycra suits collecting monies, look out for them at Thruxton!

2008 HM Plant Honda Team Unveiling Heralds A ‘New Era’

2008 marks the start of a new era for the all-conquering HM Plant Honda team in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. At a ceremony at the Sports Café in Newcastle yesterday, the 2008 team was unveiled, a team that hopes to take a clean sweep of the major British road-racing championships. In the Superbike class, HM Plant Honda has two new riders in Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow, a new machine in the awesome Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and they will be using new Pirelli control tyres. All of this adds even more spice and excitement to the championship, which this year will be held over 12 rounds between April and October. Running alongside the championship will be the Supersport and Superstock series in which Steve Brogan will be aiming for success in both classes. Last season Brogan did well as a substitute in the Supersport class and was second in the Superstock series – he aims to go one better this year.

McGuinness Denied Victory In Macau

Stobart VK Vent Axia Honda rider John McGuinness was denied victory by the cruellest of fortunes in today’s 41st running of the Macau Grand Prix where he had to settle for second place. The 34 year old from Morecambe was riding for the Paul Bird Motorsport team in the Far Eastern classic and was holding a slender lead when on the fifteenth and final lap, the 13 times TT winner came upon some backmarkers at the Melco Hairpin.

NEC Bike Show Announces Star-Studded Line-Up

With only eight days to go until the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show arrives at the NEC Birmingham (23rd Nov – 2nd Dec), the organisers have announced an all-star line-up of big-name riders and celebrities due to attend the Show, including World Superbike Champion James Toseland, British Superbike (BSB) star Chris Walker, The Long Way Down’s Charley Boorman, legendary motorsport commentator Murray Walker, The BBC’s Hairy Bikers as well as a host of other racers from MotoGP, World Superbike and BSB.

Honda’s class-leading sportsbikes, the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CBR600RR have once again proved themselves the best machines for the roads by dominating this year’s Isle of Man TT races, while continuing to feature among the most popular sportsbikes with the road-going public. Last week, in the capable hands of John McGuinness, Honda’s CBR1000RR took wins in the Superbike and Senior races at the Centenary TT. In the Senior race, John and the Fireblade also netted the new lap record, setting a new best of 130.354mph! The CBR1000RR also filled the top six placings in the Superbike race and the top three in the Senior race, proving that the Fireblade is still the machine to beat on the roads.

John McGuinness Does Magic Double With Senior TT Victory

John McGuinness provided a scorching climax to the Isle of Man Centenary TT Festival as he won the prestigious Senior race at record breaking pace for Honda as the Japanese marque repeated their 1-2-3 finish of the opening Superbike race. Riding the HM Plant liveried Honda Fireblade McGuinness was 30 plus seconds ahead of Hydrex Honda rider Guy Martin at the finish with Ian Hutchinson third for HM Plant Honda.

Honda is looking forward to this year’s 100th Anniversary TT races with one of the strongest line-ups ever in both solo and sidecar classes. In 1954, the company’s founder Soichiro Honda vowed to take part in the Isle of Man TT races and five years later on May 5th 1959 a party of four riders and five engineers set foot on Manx soil to begin Honda’s love-affair with the Tourist Trophy races. The first year saw a sixth, seventh, eighth and tenth place claiming the Manufacturers’ title, but just two years later Honda won its first race in the hands of legendary rider Mike Hailwood. Its riders had dominated practice for the 1961 Ultra Lightweight TT and Hailwood led a sweep of five Hondas in the top six placings, which he followed-up with a win in the Lightweight TT later the same day.

Four In Top Six For Stobart At Macau

Stobart Motorsport riders Michael Rutter, Ian Hutchinson, Stuart Easton and John McGuinness filled four of the top six placings to round off a successful event at the Rio Hotel Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. Michael Rutter was unable to add to his tally of six wins after having to settle for second place behind Steve Plater, whilst Ian Hutchinson claimed the final rostrum position in third for the VK and Vent Axia backed Stobart Honda team.

Stobart Motorsport riders Michael Rutter and Ian Hutchinson made their intentions clear by posting first and second fastest times after today’s first qualifying session for the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. Aboard the Vent Axia and VK backed Honda Fireblade which he has campaigned all season in the British Superbike Championship, 33-year old Rutter came within a fraction of beating his own qualifying lap record as he topped the timesheets in the one-hour session earlier today as he aims to become the first man to win the Far East classic seven times.

Colin Edwards & Casey Stoner Visit Club Amadeus, Northallerton

On Tuesday, 27th June 2006 “Texas Tornado” Colin Edwards will once again be appearing at the Club Amadeus in Northallerton. The Camel Yamaha rider’s visits to the North Yorkshire market town have become part of his build up to the British Grand Prix since he switched from World Superbikes where he was a double Champion. Colin will be joined by Australian Casey Stoner who is having a sensational first season in MotoGP after moving up from the 250cc GP class.
