Michelin Men Get to Know Indy
Michelin’s MotoGP test team visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time on July 1st and 2nd to test tyres in readiness for the inaugural Indy MotoGP event scheduled for September 14th. The two day session between the Dutch and German MotoGP rounds was scheduled thanks to new regulations which allow tyre manufacturers to test at tracks which haven’t previously featured on the World Championship calendar. “These tests are a good thing,” said Jean-Philippe Weber, Michelin’s director of motorcycle racing. “They allow us to get an initial feeling for the track. They also allow us to better understand the track and they give us an idea of how the race weekend will go.”

Wet weather is a theme of the 2008 season, with rain affecting most of the nine race weekends so far.

Pedrosa holds second overall at the moment with five other Michelin riders in the top eight. Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha Team YZR-M1-Michelin) is fourth overall despite two DNFs, the brilliant rookie followed in the championship table by Colin Edwards (Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1-Michelin), Andrea Dovizioso (JiR Team Scot Honda RC212V-Michelin), Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda RC212V-Michelin) and James Toseland (Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1-Michelin).

Today’s winner was Casey Stoner 20(Ducati Marlboro Team Desmosedici).

Michelin Men Aim to Win Again at Donington
17 June 2008
The MotoGP circus crosses the English Channel for the British Grand Prix where Michelin riders will be aiming to give the French tyre brand its second consecutive victory and its fourth success of the year. As the 2008 MotoGP series nears half-distance Michelin has no less than five riders in the top seven of the points standings. Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V-Michelin) is second overall, just five points off the points lead, after his totally dominant win at Catalunya on June 8. Dazzling rookie Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha Team YZR-M1-Michelin) is still third on points despite missing Catalunya due to injury. Then it’s veteran Colin Edwards (Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1-Michelin) and rookies Andrea Dovizioso (JiR Team Scot Honda RC212V-Michelin) and James Toseland (Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1-Michelin) in fifth, sixth and seventh. Toseland has impressed in the first races of MotoGP career, with four top-six finishes so far, and the Briton will be out for a best-ever result at Donington, where he has previously enjoyed World Superbike glory.

Pedrosa the Main Michelin Man at Catalunya
10 June 2008
Michelin man Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V-Michelin) left the rest of the pack racing for second place at Catalunya this afternoon, the local hero smashing lap and race records during his awesome start-to-finish victory. Pedrosa was Michelin’s top performer in a great day for the French tyre brand, four of the first six finishers using Michelin tyres. Local hero Pedrosa – who grew up in Sabadell, less than 20km from the track – chose hard-compound front and rear Michelins for this aggressive track and yet was able to set a stunning pace from the very beginning that quickly left his pursuers behind. At one point he had built an eight-second advantage, finally crossing the line 2.8 seconds ahead after easing his pace during the final laps. Nonetheless Pedrosa broke the Catalunya race record by more than 14 seconds. His performance was particularly impressive because the track has not been in great shape this weekend with riders complaining of a lack of grip. Lap records were not broken in the 125 and 250 GPs.

With six rounds done and 12 still to go, Michelin riders hold three of the top five positions in the MotoGP points standings, the company’s Spanish stars Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V-Michelin) and Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha Team YZR-M1-Michelin) currently second and third overall and American Colin Edwards (Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1-Michelin) in fifth place. This weekend the eyes of Spain will be on Pedrosa and Lorenzo, who have already won races this year, as they aim for further access at Catalunya.
