Britain’s one and only MotoGP star James Toseland will entertain the crowds at the bwin.com British Grand Prix at Donington Park next week in two very different ways. On Sunday June 22 the hopes and expectations of all British fans fall on his very capable shoulders as he takes on the likes of Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa on his one and only home appearance of the season in the 30 lap MotoGP race. On Thursday he swaps the handlebars of his Tech 3 Yamaha to the keyboard of the piano to indulge in his other great passion playing with his band Crash at the annual Riders For Heath Charity event, The Day of Champions, in the Donington paddock. On Friday night after the first day of practice, Toseland leads Crash back into action at a concert on the Stage opposite Starkey bar.
HANNspree Ten Kate Honda's James Tosleand maintained his series lead after a challenging day of racing at the Eurospeedway Lausitz in Germany today. The British rider now holds a 41-point advantage over nearest rival Noriyuki Haga following two tough races at the 4.265km circuit. Team-mate Roberto Rolfo performed well to hold onto his eighth place in the standings. Race one bought mixed fortunes for the HANNspree Ten Kate Honda riders. Rolfo got off to a good start from his third row position and was able to fight his way through the ranks to cross the finish line in an impressive fifth place. Toseland started from seventh on the grid, but a problem with the rear tyre on his CBR1000RR prevented the British rider from improving his position. He put up a strong fight to eventually finish in ninth place and pick up seven valuable points.
Following the second day of World Superbike qualifying at Silverstone today, HANNspree Ten Kate Honda's James Tosleand will start tomorrow's 28-lap race from the front row of the grid. Team-mate Roberto Rolfo qualified in thirteenth position for a fourth row start. lAs the predicted rain held off, Toseland continued his good form of yesterday by setting the fastest lap four times in this afternoon's second qualifying. The last of these set a new best Superbike lap at Silverstone with an impressive time of 1'24.999. Troy Corser just got the better of Toseland in the closing minutes by two tenths of a second.
