Final Day of Successful ‘Spanish Tour’ for MSS Discovery Kawasaki

MSS Discovery Kawasaki has called an early halt to their Spanish testing duties after a very successful day at the Granada circuit of Guadix. With nothing left to test and with the schedule completed, the Essex-based team will now return home to the workshop to improve their Ninja ZX-10Rs still further. With both Billy McConnell and Stuart Easton less than a second away from the opposition with a machine with plenty of development left in it, the whole team is extremely satisfied that they are on-track for the first race of the season on April 6th at Brands Hatch. The final pre-season test comes at Snetterton, Norfolk, from March 22nd through to the 24th.

Friendly Rivalry Marks the Start of MSS Discovery Kawasaki Guadix Test

MSS Discovery Kawasaki teamsters Stuart Easton and Billy McConnell indulged in some friendly rivalry yesterday as both riders aimed to be the faster around the Guadix circuit. Eventually it was the Australian McConnell who took the honours, but his Scottish team-mate was only just behind. Despite the MSS team not yet having the ‘full-power’ engine spec here at the Spanish tests, the team are buoyed by how close they are to teams who have many more testing miles under their belts.

MSS Discovery Kawasaki Enjoy Fruitful First Day of Testing at Almeria

MSS Discovery Kawasaki has begun their winter test schedule with a positive start on the first day of a three-day test at the Spanish circuit of Almeria. The test is a shakedown of the new-for-2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10Rs that riders Stuart Easton and Billy McConnell will campaign in this year’s 12-round series. The team will stay at Almeria for a further two days, before having a day off prior to further testing at the Guadix circuit.

Up And Down Final Meeting For Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki At Brands

The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team suffered another weekend of highs and lows at the final Bennetts British Superbike meeting of 2007.
Michael Rutter took the Ninja ZX-10R to 8th and 10th place finishes in the two Superbike legs, battling hard with the Rizla Suzukis and the Stobart Hondas in the early stages of the races. James Webb’s warm-up crash meant he didn’t have his number one engine for his MAXXIS British Supersport event and a high-side in front of him during the race meant he had to settle for 13th place and his first points finish for the team.

Frustrating Qualifying for Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki at Brands Hatch

The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team suffered two crashes in today’s qualifying for the last round of the British Superbike series, but still show plenty of promise for raceday. Michael Rutter was looking good for a position on the second-row of the grid before he crashed out of the qualifying session while on a hot lap. He managed to get back from the outside of Clearways with minutes to spare but was unable to register a faster time on his second machine and the 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory was bumped back to the third-row of the grid.

Jack Valentine Leaves The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki Team

The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team and Jack Valentine will part company after the final Bennetts British Superbike race of the season on October 14th. Since joining the team half-way through the season, Jack has helped the team to meet the challenges of their first season of regular Superbike competition.

Michael Rutter gave the Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team something to smile about at Donington Park today with a pair of top ten finishes aboard his Ninja ZX-10R. The 34-year-old’s 9th and 8th places in the two Bennetts British Superbike races did something to erase the pain of his young team-mate’s bad-luck in the MAXXIS British Supersport race. 18-year-old James Webb ended up in the gravel in the first turn after a collision with another rider, continuing the Kent rider’s poor run of luck on race-day after an impressive qualifying performance.

Chassis changes have given Michael Rutter more feedback from his Ninja ZX-10R, enabling the 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory to be closer to the leaders’ lap-times than previously this season.

Michael Rutter has some new chassis parts to try out on his Ninja ZX-10R, while draftee James Webb is aiming for a good finish after his impressive qualifying showing last time out at Cadwell Park. Meanwhile the rider he replaced on the Ninja ZX-6R, Stuart Easton, continues to make a good recovery from his smashed left heel, but the bone will not be healed until at least November.

The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team had a mixed bag of results at Lincolnshire’s Cadwell Park circuit today. In the Superbike class Michael Rutter took two points finishes, while young replacement rider James Webb crashed out of the MAXXIS British Supersport race. In the Bennetts British Superbike class, 34-year-old Rutter battled a fuelling problem and a brief off-track excursion but managed to take respectable 11th and 10th place finishes.

James Webb has had an immediate impact on the timesheets in the MAXXIS British Supersport Championship. The 18-year-old took the Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R to eighth position on his debut for the team in the fiercely competitive series. The rider from Tunbridge Wells replaces Stuart Easton, who broke his heel mid-week in a practice crash for Kawasaki France. The 23-year-old former British champion will miss the remaining rounds of the British Supersport championship. In the Bennetts British Superbike class, Michael Rutter has been suffering from a frustrating engine management issue but still was the fastest Kawasaki in qualifying by recording the 12th best time.

The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team took fifth place in today’s MAXXIS British Supersport race at Croft, in North Yorkshire. The result matches the best so far this year for Stuart Easton, and with new parts coming in time for the next round at Cadwell Park, great things are expected from both bike and rider for the final three races of the season. In the Superbike class, Easton’s team-mate Michael Rutter made some big improvements to the performance of his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R in between today’s two Bennetts British Superbike races. The changes saw the 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory knock the best part of a second off his first race best lap time and take ten seconds from his overall race time. It’s hoped that these improvements will continue at Cadwell Park in two weeks time.

The ISILON MSS Discovery Kawasaki team endured a frustrating qualifying day at the Croft circuit, home of round 10 of the Bennetts British Superbike championship. Michael Rutter secured 12th place in qualifying for tomorrow’s two races, but has found it hard to get the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R set-up to his liking around the 2.13-mile North Yorkshire circuit. The 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory is also suffering from a bout of the flu and has been running a temperature since the start of the weekend. His team-mate Stuart Easton starts tomorrow’s MAXXIS British Supersport race in ninth place on the grid. The 23-year-old from Hawick, in Scotland, will be looking for a good start from the head of the third row of the grid to try and secure the team’s elusive first podium of 2007.

Upgraded Motor Debut For Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki At Croft

The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki squad is looking forward to the debut of the new ‘WSB-spec’ engines in their Ninja ZX-10R Superbikes this weekend. Superbike rider Michael Rutter is looking forward to the two races – not only thanks to the new engines at his disposal, but also because his injured left wrist has improved in the three-week break since Mallory Park. Other technical improvements to the Ninja ZX-10Rs include a new swingarm with a revised rear shock linkage. In the MAXXIS British Supersport class, Stuart Easton will be hoping that some better luck than he’s experienced so far this season will help him net that elusive first podium of the year.

The ISILON MSS Discovery Kawasaki team has taken delivery of the first of the ‘factory WSB spec’ Akira engines for their Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R race machines. The Akira firm exclusively develops and maintains engines for the factory Kawasaki PSG-1 team in the World Superbike Championship, and thanks to the ISILON MSS Discovery team’s status as the officially supported team of Kawasaki Motors UK, they have been allowed access to these motors for the rest of the season and in time for the next round of the Bennetts British Superbike series at Croft on August 12th.

ISILON MSS Discovery Kawasaki riders Michael Rutter and Stuart Easton scored a pair of top-ten finishes at today’s British Championship races at Mallory Park, in Leicestershire. Michael, still riding while recuperating from breaking two bones in his left wrist, was forced out of race one with a technical problem, but bounced back to take a hard-earned 8th in the second Bennetts British Superbike race. His 23-year-old team-mate Stuart Easton clawed his way up the field to take 7th place in the MAXXIS British Supersport race.

Freak Weather Brings A Halt To Qualifying At Mallory

Torrential downpours during the last 24-hours have brought qualifying to a halt today at Mallory Park, round nine of the Bennetts British Superbike series. The rain has proved to be so heavy that parts of the track have flooded, leaving organisers no option but to cancel all the qualifying sessions and run free practice sessions instead, with the grid positions determined by championship positions in all classes. In today’s second free practice session ISILON MSS Discovery Kawasaki’s Michael Rutter was second fastest behind Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha rider Tommy Hill. Michael’s grid slot going into tomorrow’s race will be on the back of the fourth row in 12th.

Superb Seventh for Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki - Oulton Park

After battling the elements, three crashes and pins and needles in his recovering broken wrist, Michael Rutter still managed to salvage a good top-10 result from today’s wet Oulton Park races. Despite a crash in the first race, the rider from Kirkby Mallory managed to hang on for seventh in the second race at the 2.69-mile Cheshire circuit. His 23-year-old team-mate Stuart Easton was looking good for a top five result when he was sidelined from the MAXXIS British Supersport race with a technical problem. Both riders will want to bounce back for the Mallory Park round which takes place next weekend.

Despite returning from a broken wrist, Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki MSS Discovery Kawasaki rider Michael Rutter slotted his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R in 12th place for tomorrow’s two 17-lap Bennetts British Superbike races. His team-mate Stuart Easton spent the day refining the race set-up of his Ninja ZX-6R machine and eventually qualified in eighth. The Scot is confident of a good result, whatever the weather in the 16-lap MAXXIS British Supersport race.
