Pourcel Debuts 2009 KX450F in Dublin
29 August 2008
Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing’s Sébastien Pourcel has been sensational in this year’s FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship as the 23–year-old Frenchman has taken more pole positions than any other rider, won the most heats – as well as two Grand Prix overall – and currently sits sixth in the series standings on his factory KX450F-SR still with a chance of taking the title. For the remaining three rounds of the MX1 championship Kawasaki will give Sébastien an even greater edge over his competition as he’ll debut the brand new fuel-injected 2009 KX450F in competition at the Grand Prix of Ireland in Fairyhouse, Dublin on August 31. Lighter, faster and stronger than ever before the 2009 KX450F is more than machine enough to push Pourcel back in to the winner’s circle.

Rob Barber Fastest Newcomer at Cancelled Ulster GP
19 August 2008
Rob returned from the Ulster Grand Prix with mixed feels after it was cancelled due to the terrible weather North Ireland suffered on Saturday. He commented ‘There was no other option but to cancel the races as the weather was so bad. Rob was really disappointed as he was consistently the fastest Newcomer in all dry Practice sessions. That was even more impressive when you consider the other newcomers Matts Nilsson, Jamies Hillier, Ollie Linsdall, Christian Elkin, and Colin Wilcocks.

Rain Stops Play at Dundrod
18 August 2008
There was disappointment all round in the Relentless Suzuki camp when Saturday’s Ulster Grand Prix was cancelled due to a severe weather warning in Northern Ireland. The organising Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club were left with no other option when 45mm of rain fell within a three-hour period on Saturday morning leaving the circuit in no fit state for racing. Relentless Suzuki riders Bruce Anstey and Cameron Donald had performed extremely well in the qualifying sessions with Anstey taking pole position in the Superbike class by almost four seconds. The Kiwi then took pole position in the Superstock class with a new unofficial lap record of 128.95mph. Donald also dipped under the previous lap record, posting a time of 128.62mph on his GSX–R1000 Suzuki making it a one–two for the Moneymore team on the front row.

Following on from his successful Ulster Grand Prix meeting last year, Hydrex Bike Animal Honda rider Guy Martin was hoping to get back in the swing of things after a less than successful season but once again, the great British summer had other ideas. After a bright start to the day, gradually the clouds rolled in and by the time practice was due to get under way at 1.30pm this afternoon, the heavy rain which blighted last year's event on the Dundrod circuit returned with a vengeance causing organisers to delay proceedings.

Maria Costello Forced to Sit Out Races at North West 200
30 May 2008
The petite blonde motorcycle racer from Northamptonshire, Maria Costello, seems destined never to compete at the Kennedy International North West 200, as she was yet again forced to pull out of the event due to injury. Costello had already faced challenge after challenge in the run up to the event with what seemed like endless mechanical set backs but the real threat came in the form of a broken shoulder blade she sustained four weeks earlier in a high speed crash while testing her Philip Youles Triumph Daytona 675 at Cadwell Park.

The two AIM Yamaha riders, Steve Plater and Ian Hutchinson rode well at the North West 200 races on Saturday with Steve Plater taking three wins and a fourth place plus the lap record in the Supersport class while Ian Hutchinson battled with machine problems but came through to secure three top tens. He was forced out of the last Supersport race in the closing stages with a water hose problem. A G’Day for Donald at the Triangle
20 May 2008
Relentless Suzuki by TAS rider Cameron Donald made a strong international debut for the Moneymore based team at Saturday’s Kennedy International North West 200 with a brace of podium finishes. The Australian rider, in only his third North West 200, narrowly lost out to Steve Plater in the blue Riband superbike race after being block-passed into the penultimate chicane at Juniper Hill by BSB regular Michael Rutter. This let Plater slip through to take the victory. Ironically, Donald suffered the same fate, at the same chicane, on the final lap of the CP Hire Superstock race, when a Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing ‘one–two’ looked almost inevitable. When the chequered flag was unfurled it was Alastair Seeley who took the win with Anstey second and Donald third – a double podium for Relentless Suzuki.

In Superstock Steve Brogan had a minor problem on his Fireblade and had to retire at the end of the first lap. In the Supersport races the HM Plant Honda rider took his CBR600RR to 11th in the first race and a fighting 4th place in the second race.

Plater Claims Pole for AIM Yamaha at NW200
16 May 2008
Steve Plater has claimed pole position for the start of the two Supersport races at the Kennedy International North West 200 races on Saturday while AIM Yamaha teammate Ian Hutchinson was fourth fastest and will start from row two. Plater had been running pole for most of the session until Alastair Seeley posted a quick lap towards the end of Thursday’s final qualifying to take over at the top of the timing sheet. But Plater was quick to respond with a time of 4m 33.749 seconds on his very last lap beating Seeley by 0.503s to start Saturday’s two Supersport races from pole position. Last year Plater finished second and a very close fourth in the two six-lap events and will be hungry for the win this time around.

Ryan Farquhar was on the pace in Tuesday's opening practice sessions for the 2008 North West 200 on the Q8Oils lubricated McAdoo Kawasaki race bikes. Despite some minor set-up issues, Ryan ended the evening third, sixth and seventh fastest in the Supersport 600, Superbike and Superstock 1000 classes respectively. Out first on the new 2008 ZX-10R Kawasaki Superbike, Ryan went straight to the top of the timesheets during the opening laps of practice. He felt that the bike was really powerful and recorded the fastest speed trap time of the evening at 195.1mph with the on-board GPS system. Ryan lost a bit of track time trying to perfect the rear suspension but still ended the session a promising sixth fastest average speed of 118.702mph.
