Honda Gears Up for BladeDay2

Honda and motorcycle fans across the UK are gearing up for Bladeday2, a unique motorcycling event at Donington Park on Friday 23rd May, to celebrate sixteen years of the Fireblade – the bike universally known to capture the very essence of sports motorcycling. The anticipated 5,000 ’Blade and motorcycling enthusiast visitors to the event can expect an action packed day of entertainment for just £10 entry fee on the day (under 16s free), but remember to bring cash as no card payment facilities will be available at the event. Gates at the Melbourne Entrance open at 9.00am with the event, located on the Launch Pad site, ending at 5.00pm.

Arai Race Service Supports North West 200

For the third year in succession, the Arai Race Service will be at the North West 200. Operated by UK Arai importer Phoenix Distribution the Service, started in 1984 and now in its 24th year of supporting Arai racers, will play a crucial role in helping its riders as they compete at Northern Irelands’ premier event. Every technician working on the Arai Race Service has undergone an extensive training programme and knows every Arai helmet inside and out. In tough road race events like the North West, fit and a clear view are crucial. These essential requirements are fully taken care of by the technicians allowing the riders to focus their full concentration on the race.

Team Blackhorse Yamaha Ready for Oulton

The twenty year old Team Blackhorse Yamaha rider Olie Linsdell was well on the pace at Thruxton and was hugely disappointed after his crash on the last lap of qualifying, which left him with an injured left shoulder and unable to start the race. Thankfully the injury has healed well and Olie and the team are determined to get their season underway at the picturesque and challenging Cheshire circuit which has hosted some of the great races of yesteryear and where sections such as Lodge, OldHall, Knickerbrook and Druids are familiar to the riders and dedicated race fan alike.

Dainese To Sponsor 2008 Tourist Trophy as Official Safety Partner

The company from Vicenza has been appointed Official Safety Partner of the legendary race that has been run since 1907 on the Isle of Man in England. In order to close the important sponsorship deal, the two most important superbike races of the Tourist Trophy (TT) to be held on May 31st and June 7th will be renamed The Isle of Man Dainese Superbike Race and The Isle of Man Dainese Senior TT Race. The TT will be the first “Italian Legendary Protection” event: a project that Dainese has been developing together with AGV with the objective of communicating and celebrating the long tradition that both Italian companies share in motorcycle racing history in terms of protection and safety.

Dainese Announces 2008 TT Involvement

Dainese has today announced that the company has been appointed the ‘Official Safety Partner’ to the Isle of Man TT Races for 2008. As part of the significant deal, the TT’s two key Superbike races will be known as The Isle of Man Dainese Superbike Race and The Isle of Man Dainese Senior TT Race. The Italian company, which specialises in safety products for active sports enthusiasts was founded in 1972 by the current managing director, Mr Lino Dainese, who will be visiting the Isle of Man over the TT fortnight.

‘Young Guns’ Feature In New TT Races Promotion

The Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure has created a new TT advertising campaign to promote the 2008 TT races. The campaign, which will appear in national, bike and lifestyle media, and online, features some of the younger TT riders in iconic spots around the course. It will run from November to May 2008. Riders featured include Guy Martin, Ian Hutchinson, James Hillier, Gary Johnson, William Dunlop, Martin Finnegan, Ollie Linsdell and Manx rider Conor Cummins. Locations chosen include Kate’s Cottage, Sulby Straight, Kirk Michael, Ballaugh Bridge and Joey’s.

TT Scouts Draw a Yamaha R6

2007 was not only the Centenary of the T.T. Races but it was also a very important year for young people on the Isle of Man, as it was in 1907 that Lord Baden-Powell started the Scout movement. Yamaha went to the Centenary TT in a big way this year. Alongside renaming Ramsey, ‘Yamsey’ and providing Yamaha overalls and caps to the Manx Scouts who operate the TT Grandstand scoreboard, the company also presented a brand new Yamaha YZF-R6 to the Manx Scouts to be used as the first prize in their TT Centenary Tombola.

The man behind a unique film celebrating 100 years of the Isle of Man TT is looking for contributions from fans. Andrew Stickland would like to include footage shot by road racing enthusiasts during the two-week festival marking the Centenary of the TT in his upcoming film TT: Centenary Celebration. The film – the first High Definition title from Duke – promises to be an essential record of an extraordinary event in motorcycle racing history. It will document the atmosphere and passion that surrounded the Centenary celebrations, and meet some of the 60,000 fans who descended on the Isle of Man for the festival of speed.

Two Bike Outing For Southern ‘100’ Road Races

Maria Costello, the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT course, will be competing at the renowned ‘friendly races’ Southern ‘100’ Road Races next week on board both her Bering Honda CBR600RR and Bering Honda RVF400. Last year Maria rode the RLR Motorsports 400i at the Billown Circuit event but bad weather forced the organisers to abandon the first evening’s races leaving her with only one race to compete in. Maria finished in a respectable 15th place in the combined 125/400 race and was the 7th 400 home.

Honda’s Sports Machines Savour All-Round Success

Honda’s class-leading sportsbikes, the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CBR600RR have once again proved themselves the best machines for the roads by dominating this year’s Isle of Man TT races, while continuing to feature among the most popular sportsbikes with the road-going public. Last week, in the capable hands of John McGuinness, Honda’s CBR1000RR took wins in the Superbike and Senior races at the Centenary TT. In the Senior race, John and the Fireblade also netted the new lap record, setting a new best of 130.354mph! The CBR1000RR also filled the top six placings in the Superbike race and the top three in the Senior race, proving that the Fireblade is still the machine to beat on the roads.
