Josh Hayes has a two-race winning streak coming into Saturday’s Lockhart Phillips USA Formula Xtreme Series presented by HMR. The Erion Honda rider from Gulfport, Miss., is hoping to make it three straight at the famous Northern California circuit in round four of the 10 race series. Hayes is the defending Formula Xtreme Champion and he’s bounced back after bike problems at Daytona to win last month at both of the Birmingham, Ala., and Fontana, Calif., rounds. Those victories have moved Hayes into the series lead, 10 points ahead of Bay Area native Steve Rapp, of Attack Kawasaki. Rapp won the series opener, the Daytona 200, in March.

Josh Hayes is hoping to return Honda to prominence in the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei. So far, so good for the Gulfport, Mississippi rider. Hayes, of Erion Racing Honda, leads the series standings coming into round four at Infineon Raceway, in Sonoma, Calif., on Sunday May 20. A few weeks ago Hayes was tied for the series lead with Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Roger Hayden, but after scoring a runner-up finish last month in Fontana, Calif., to Hayden’s third, Hayes has opened up a narrow four-point gap on his rival. Both riders are seeking their first Supersport win at Infineon.

Spies Vs. Mladin At Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown
13 May 2007
In 2006 young Texan Ben Spies ended veteran Mat Mladin’s long-time domination by earning the AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited title. Mladin, while giving credit to his Yoshimura Suzuki teammate, claimed that one reason he lost the title was complacency on his part. The result is that Mladin, the six-time AMA Superbike Champion from Australia, trained harder than ever and is determined to take back the Superbike crown from Spies who is now entering the prime of his racing career.

Mladin And Spies Bring Their Battle To Infineon Raceway
12 May 2006
This year is Mat Mladin’s 10th anniversary of racing AMA Superbike. Since the Australian came on the scene in 1996 he has changed the landscape of Superbike racing in America. The six-time champ owns nearly every significant record in the series and shows no sign of slowing down. He also owns more wins at Infineon Raceway than any other rider. All things considered, you might expect Mladin to be the favorite coming into Infineon Raceway’s Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown Weekend doubleheader on May 19-21. However, this year the all-time winningest rider in AMA Superbike history is facing perhaps the toughest challenge of his career in the form of Yoshimura Suzuki teammate Ben Spies.
