Ilmor GP Sepang Test Summary

Following the success of the recent test in Almeria, where despite being hampered by bad weather the team made significant progress, Ilmor GP had high hopes for the test in Sepang where they joined the likes of Kawasaki and Yamaha out on the track. Whilst prioritising further work on the engine calibration over the test the team also undertook an important tyre test with new supplier Michelin.

Ilmor Announce 2007 Riders

Northampton 18.12.06: Ending months of speculation, Mario Illien, Ilmor GP Team Owner today announced that Jeremy McWilliams and Andrew Pitt will make up the Ilmor 2007 MotoGP line up. Despite his crash in Jerez back in November where he suffered a fractured left femur McWilliams is well on the way to recovery, both he and ex-Kawasaki rider Pitt spent time today at the teams engineering facility in Northampton discussing plans for 2007.

Ilmor SRT X³ Makes History in Estoril Race

The goal was quite simply to finish the race, Australian ride Garry McCoy went one better putting in a consistent performance to bring MotoGP’s newest team Ilmor SRT, their first Championship point and making history in process – today was the first time a 800cc capacity bike has scored a point in the MotoGP series.

Ilmor Estoril Qualifying Session

Mario Illien's fledgling MotoGP team completed their first official qualifying session today ahead of the Portuguese leg of the World Championship in Estoril. Australian Garry McCoy had a difficult task ahead of him as he tested out the qualifying tyres for the first time. Despite being hampered by a rear shock absorber problem, the team exceeded most expectations finishing only 5 percent off the qualifying pace - an astonishing feat considering the 20 percent reduction in capacity of the 800cc Ilmor X³.

Ilmor SRT X³ Debut - Estoril

MotoGP’s newest team Ilmor was officially launched on Thursday 12th October at a jam packed press conference in Estoril. The team, headed up by Mario Illien in conjunction with chassis designer Eskil Suter, unveiled the radical looking X³ in front of the international media as Ilmor make their debut at the Portuguese leg of the World Championship.
