Britain’s Graeme Gowland was still getting to grips with his Berry Racing Honda in the 7th round of the World Supersport Championship at the Misano Circuit, after making his debut on it at the last round. The Misano circuit, which is located close to San Marino, was another new circuit for the reigning Spanish Supersport Champion but he improved his lap time in every session to post a lap time of 1:42.162 in the second and final qualifying session to qualify just 2.7 seconds off the pole position man Broc Parkes.

Micron World First For Honda’s CBR600

Micron has announced the launch of a brand new silencer for Honda’s 2007 World Supersport championship winning CBR600RR. It is, the company claims, the world’s first fully-Hydroformed underseat exhaust. The unit can be fixed directly to the standard header pipes of the CBR or, for a fully Hydroformed system, Micron’s own Serpent pipework. The end cap of the silencer unit also features carbon-fibre trim, another first for Micron.

The magazine undertook an exhaustive countdown of all the motorcycles on the market in the UK this year to come up with a ‘Top 150’ of the very best. Each machine was marked by a panel of experienced journalists and racers in a number of categories, including performance, handling, styling, engine, practicality, wow factor and value. Coming out on top as the undisputed number one was Honda’s CBR600RR.

BOS exhausts of the Netherlands have introduced aftermarket silencers for two of the most popular 2007 model sports bikes, the Honda CBR600-RR and Yamaha R1. Both are styled to enhance the appearance of the machines and deliver a more aggressive exhaust note in a road-legal package. BOS has been manufacturing exhausts since 1965 and uses the absorption type of silencer, which produces a distinctive sound without breaking strict European noise limits. Every silencer is specially designed for the make and model of motorcycle, with its own specific inside diameter tube, length and damping material. BOS pioneered removable ‘dB eaters’ 10 years ago and this design concept has been adopted by most of the leading exhaust manufacturers.

Honda’s evergreen favourite the CBR600 is 20 years old this year! The latest CBR600RR-7 is the latest in a long line of CBRs, stretching back to the first CBR600FH, which was launched way back in 1987. Back then the CBR600 boasted around 80 brake horsepower and a top speed of around 140mph, it was a revolution in the class, immediately topping the sales charts and becoming a winner out on the track in 600cc production racing. Today, the latest CBR600RR-7, which is in the shops now, has an impressive 118bhp and a top speed approaching 170mph!

Honda’s new-for-2007 CBR600RR has now been unveiled to the world and it promises to be the most advanced 600cc machine in the Supersports class. The CBR600 – which celebrates its 20th birthday in 2007 – is completely new from stem to stern and features a host of technological advances handed down from the MotoGP championship-winning RC211V in preparation for its blistering assault on the roads and tracks of Europe next year.

The above end-cans are now in stock with the UK Yoshimura importer Phoenix Distribution, with an RS5 end-can for the Kawasaki ZX636R due imminently.
