Pedrosa & Repsol Honda on Top
Yesterday
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa made a great start to his French GP weekend by setting the pace in today’s opening practice sessions aboard his RC212V. Team-mate Nicky Hayden had a more difficult day, ending up 12th fastest, but the American is confident of improvement tomorrow, so long as the forecast rain stays away. With showers predicted for tomorrow, there was extra pressure on the team to find the best-possible set-up during today’s two one-hour outings, Pedrosa looking superbly smooth and controlled around the historic French circuit, while Hayden worked to improve corner-entry performance.

HM Plant Honda teamsters John McGuinness and Steve Brogan will line up this evening for the first practice for Saturday’s Kennedy International North West 200. The North West 200 circuit runs between the towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine in Northern Ireland and has a history stretching back to 1929. Roads master McGuinness is a previous winner in the Superbike class at the event, while Brogan is a relative newcomer to the famous race. John will be riding in the Superbike class aboard the awesome new 2008 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, based closely on the machines used in the Bennetts British Superbike championship. Kiyonari Shines in Monza with First WSB Podium
5 Days ago
HANNspree Ten Kate Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari was one of the surprises in the second Superbike race at Monza today as he magnificently pushed his Honda to the top of the field and claimed his first ever World Superbike podium, despite the fact he had never raced the famous Italian track before. His maiden World Superbike podium was the reward for a strong race in which he worked hard to catch up with the front runners. Starting from 8th place on the grid, Kiyonari was determined to make his way forward and close the gap with the front runners. The last laps of the race saw Kiyonari closely following Haga and Neukirchner swapping the lead. He managed to overhaul the fighting dogs and grab the lead, but lost it in the final turn and finished his best race this season in third place with only 0.05 from victory.
