Bridgestone MotoGP Briefing China
29 April 2008
After a brief break, MotoGP gets back on track with the Chinese Grand Prix at the state-of-the-art Shanghai International Circuit this weekend. China is one of the newest additions to the MotoGP calendar, having made its debut as recently as 2005, and this year’s event will be just the fourth MotoGP event to be held in Shanghai. No rider has claimed more than one victory in any of the three classes in the three previous visits to China, though Casey Stoner took a 250cc win in 2005 and MotoGP honours in 2007. Stoner’s win last year was the first for a rider on Bridgestone tyres in Shanghai, but Bridgestone has a reasonably strong record at the track with Kawasaki’s Olivier Jacque finishing second in the wet in 2005 and John Hopkins taking fourth place for Suzuki in 2006. Hopkins also took his first ever MotoGP podium in last year’s event finishing third, just six seconds behind Stoner.

Bridgestone MotoGP Briefing - Portugal
09 April 2008
It has been just over half a year since the Estoril circuit last played host to a MotoGP world championship event but significant improvements in bike, tyre and riding performances over the winter will make for an even more competitive Portuguese GP this weekend. Anticipating the race to April gives Estoril a spring-time calendar slot for only the second time since its first MotoGP race back in 2000, the last occasion being back in 2005. This year’s event will be the ninth Portuguese GP, a race weekend that has traditionally not been easy for Bridgestone, although Makoto Tamada took pole position and scored a podium finish in 2004, which marked the first European podium result for a rider using Bridgestone tyres.

Bridgestone MotoGP Australia & Malaysia Debrief
24 October 2007
The final intercontinental races of the 2007 MotoGP season saw recently-crowned champion Casey Stoner take consecutive victories aboard his Bridgestone-shod Ducati, the first in his home grand prix at Phillip Island and the latest in Sepang, which took his season tally to an impressive ten wins in 17 starts. Two other riders using Bridgestone tyres claimed podium results in this latest set of back-to-back races with Stoner’s team-mate and Japanese GP victor Loris Capirossi finishing second in Australia, while Honda Gresini’s Marco Melandri added a third podium to his 2007 collection with an excellent second in Sepang. Competition among bike and tyre manufacturers was close in both rounds but the technical demands of Phillip Island and the uncertainties of a resurfaced circuit in Sepang made life tough for tyre manufacturers in these penultimate events of the year.
