Rea & Pitt to Participate in BSB Round

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda Supersport riders Jonathan Rea and Andrew Pitt will participate in the next round of the British Superbike Championship at Donington Park on the 26th of May. While the Superbike team heads to the USA for the new addition on the Superbike Calendar at the Miller Sports Park in Salt Lake City, it would leave the Supersport team with a month long break before their next round in Germany. The chance to do some extra testing at the highly competitive BSB round at Donington is a welcome event that will help the team in finding a competitive race set-up ahead of the WSS round on the same track later this season.

Kiyonari Shines in Monza with First WSB Podium

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari was one of the surprises in the second Superbike race at Monza today as he magnificently pushed his Honda to the top of the field and claimed his first ever World Superbike podium, despite the fact he had never raced the famous Italian track before. His maiden World Superbike podium was the reward for a strong race in which he worked hard to catch up with the front runners. Starting from 8th place on the grid, Kiyonari was determined to make his way forward and close the gap with the front runners. The last laps of the race saw Kiyonari closely following Haga and Neukirchner swapping the lead. He managed to overhaul the fighting dogs and grab the lead, but lost it in the final turn and finished his best race this season in third place with only 0.05 from victory.

Pitt Takes 4th in Monza Supersport Race

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda’s Andrew Pitt was well on the pace in the warm up session but struggled in race conditions at Monza today. After an imperfect start and a struggle through the first corner, Pitt came through the first lap in 8th position and started his move forward. Despite a strong overhaul of riders in front of him, problems with the grip of his tires forced him to abort plans to push further and he finished the race in 4th position.

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda SBK Makes Good Progress In Monza

The HANNspree Ten Kate Honda Superbike riders finished their second day of qualifying for the IDS Italian Round of the Superbike World Championship at Monza. Both Carlos Checa and Ryuichi Kiyonari are making their debut at the Autodromo Nazionale and placed their new CBR1000RR Fireblades on the 4th and 8th place on the grid respectively, in the Superpole qualifying. After struggling to keep his lap times consistent in the qualifying sessions, Checa managed to find a consistent race pace and was one of the fast men in the free practice ahead of the Superpole qualfiying. The third man to start his Superpole lap, Checa managed to set a satisfactory fast time and secured a front row start next to pole sitter Bayliss, Neukirchner and Haga.Team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari started the day as one of the fastest men in the final qualifying practice, but faced some critical moments later in the afternoon when he nearly lost control of his bike twice in his Superpole lap and will start from the second row tomorrow.

After a successful round at their home track in Assen in which the HANNspree Ten Kate Honda showed its dominance in the Supersport race and took a second and third place in the Superbike races, the team is now in Italy for the 5th round of the series at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza.

Checa Claims Double Podium at Assen

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda’s Carlos Checa concluded a strong weekend of racing with a second and third place place at the team’s home track in Assen today. The double podium rounds off a successful day of racing for the team, after collecting the number one and two spots in the World Supersport race earlier. Carlos Checa encountered some technical issues with his bike in the qualifying sessions on Friday and Saturday’s, but the issues were soon a distant memory as he set about to carve his way forward through the field and concluded the first Superbike race with a second place behind Troy Bayliss.

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda Dominates Supersport Podium

The HANNspree Ten Kate Honda team managed to take top honours in a close Supersport battle at their home track in Assen. Jonathan Rea immediately lead the race after his start from the front row and showed how quickly he has familiarised himself with the fast Dutch circuit. Andrew Pitt, who started on the third row, also made his way forward in the field quickly and took the lead from Jonathan in the 3rd lap.

Checa Pushes Hard in Second Assen Qualifying

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda’s Carlos Checa was the leading Honda man today in a Ducati dominated second day of qualifying in Assen. Carlos Checa ended the second qualifying practice in a best time of 1’39.37 and managed to further improve his pace in the afternoon session. He set his fastest lap of the day at 1’38.86 which sees him starting on the 2nd row in 6th position for tomorrow’s race. Ryuichi Kiyonari, the lead Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider in the morning’s qualifying practice, endured a crash in the free practice session. With only three more laps on his second bike before the time ran out, Kiyonari came into the Superpole unprepared and did not manage to improve his fastest lap of the day. He will start tomorrow’s race on the 4th row.

Rea Takes Second Spot in Strong Day of Qualifying

The second Supersport qualifying session saw HANNspree Ten Kate Honda’s Jonathan Rea firmly hold on to the provisional pole throughout most of the session, only to lose his leading position in the penultimate round to Broc Parkes. Rea managed to show his outright pace throughout the afternoon session and was the first one to dip under the lap record set by Kenan Sofuoglu last year. Rea finished in 1'40.944 which places him on second place on the grid for tomorrow’s race.

Frustration For HANNspree WSS At Valencia

The third round of the World Supersport Championship at Valencia was a frustrating event for HANNspree-supported riders after the second round podium clean sweep at Phillip Island. Gianluca Nannelli was the highest finishing HANNspree rider in fifth place, while HANNspree Ten Kate Honda’s Jonathan Rea was the second highest finishing HANNspree rider in sixth.

Third Round Thrills At Valencia

The 2008 HANNspree World Superbike Championship continued with the third round at Valencia today, where Lorenzo Lanzi and Noriyuki Haga clinched a win apiece in the two 23-lap races. The eventual first race saw many of the series frontrunners struggling to get to grips with the Spanish track. Tyres and set-up caused problems for several riders Yukio Kagayama, Haga and Michel Fabrizio all failed to complete race distance.

Kiyonari Claims 6th In First Superpole Appearance

Ryuichi Kiyonari concluded his first Superpole appareance today with a best of 1'34.370 which places him on the 6th spot on the second row for tomorrow’s race. The young Japanese is consistently improving his pace and made an impressive appearance in his maiden Superpole lap in which he took 0.6 off his best lap time on qualifiers. In the morning qualifying session, HANNspree Ten Kate Honda Carlos Checa put his new CBR1000RR Fireblade firmly on top of the sheets and passed provisional pole sitter Neukirchner with a new best lap time of 1'34.418. In the Superpole qualifying Checa had more difficulties to keep his leading pace on the qualifiers and finished 7th in 1'34.492 which puts him on the second row on the grid for tomorrow's race.

Pitt Claims Pole Position In Valencia

Day two qualifying saw HANNspree Ten Kate Honda rider Andrew Pitt remain firmly on top of the timesheets for the duration of the entire session, claiming his second pole position this season. Pitt endured some problems with the front of his bike, resulting in a crash in both the free practice and second qualifying session, but he maintained his lead on the rest of the field with no other rider able to dip under his best lap time of 136.773 he set in yesterday’s session.

Checa On The Pace In First

The first qualifying session ahead of the third Superbike round in Valencia saw the first 10 places on the timesheet with less then a 0.7 margin between them. HANNspree Ten Kate Honda rider Carlos Checa secured a third place in 1'35.042 the only rider capable of keeping his pace consistent, lapping 35’s on race tires for more then 15 laps. His sights are set on equalling this result tomorrow in the second qualifying ahead of the Superpole.

Pitt Claims Provisional Pole At Valencia

HANNspree Ten Kate Honda rider Andrew Pitt was well on the pace in the first day of practice at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia. Pitt improved his best lap time set in the free practice with another 1,2 seconds in the qualifying session and claimed provisional pole position in 1’36.773 ahead of Jones and Fujiwara. Pitt claimed 2nd in last year’s Valencia race as he replaced injured Sebastian Charpentier for the HANNspree Ten Kate Honda team

Carlos Checa Gets Wiiiiings

Ahead of the preparations for Sunday’s Valencia race, HANNspree Ten Kate Honda rider Carlos Checa made a special appearance to the track as he descended from a Cessna light aircraft directly onto the circuit. Checa, a regular parachute jumper, started his descend from 10.000 feet before landing onto the track in front of a handful of journalists and fans.

HANNspree Team Ready For Valencia Race

The Superbike World Championship starts its first race of the season on the European continent at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia this Sunday. The HANNspree Ten Kate Honda Superbike and Supersport teams, who completed a successful test at the same Spanish circuit two weeks ago, are all geared up for the third round of the championship. Carlos Checa is expected to continue his progress and put some more points on the board, as he makes his first Superbike appearance in front of his home audience.

The Pirelli test in Valencia saw lap times tumbling down further for the HANNspreeTen Kate Honda squad as they completed the second and final day of testing on the Ricardo Tormo circuit. The new lap record set by Xaus yesterday was only short lived and blitzed by Karl Muggeridge while Carlos Checa and Ryuichi Kiyonari both continued their consitent pace and came close to the newly set fastest time.

HANNspree WSS Team Leaves Valencia With A Positive Outlook

The HANNspree Ten Kate Honda Supersport team leaves the Pirelli test on the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia with a positive outlook for the next race here in less then three weeks time. It didn’t take Andrew Pitt and Jonathan Rea long to pick up a consistent race pace in their race simulations on the final day of testing.
